Although he was glad that Qin Jiran loved his sister beyond her beautiful face, he was curious of how Qin Jiran managed to win his sister's heart, considering there would be a lot of obstacles between them.
For one, his sister already had a pair of twins whose father's identity remained unknown. Not all men would willingly accept another man's child even if they loved the woman. Tang Beixuan knew this was one of the reasons why his sister didn't dare to see anyone or consider getting into a relationship after her rift with Feng Tianhua.
Secondly, Tang Moyu's reputation as the fallen empress had left a mark on her person. "I do think she's beautiful, but I think her heart is more beautiful than her face. That's something people aren't aware of. For them, she might be an overbearing, selfish woman who doesn't care about the people around her, but that isn't true. Moyu is better than that. She cares about her friends deeply, although she doesn't obviously show it." Feng Tianyi said.
Tang Beixuan considered his words and thought about how his sister acted when they were younger. Because their mother was too strict on them, Beixuan had to stay in his room and wasn't allowed to leave unless he finished his lessons, which were too much for a kid like him. It was always his sisters who found a way to sneak in snacks to his room, pretending to be checking on him.
Sometimes his Moyu Jie would take a quick peek at his lessons before giving him some pointers to get the right answers, saving him a lot of time.
Feng Tianyi sighed as he remembered those times when he was feeling frustrated over the hot and cold treatment he received from the empress, until that fateful day came. The day that she truly admitted her feelings for him and decided to work things out with him instead of stopping what she couldn't avoid any longer.
"She rejected me twice, Beixuan. You don't know how hard it was for me to change her mind. It was hard, but Moyu was definitely worth all the trouble, I'm telling you."

He initially thought that with Qin Jiran's personality and his net worth as an author, which automatically puts him on par with his sister's status, would be some sort of a free ticket to his sister's heart. "Was it because of the twins?" He asked. That's the ultimate reason why his sister would reject any man's affection. In the empress's heart, her little buns were her utmost priority in this lifetime.

"Yes, they were part of the reason. She made it clear that if she is forced to choose between me and her children, she wouldn't think twice to choose them instead. Not that I could blame her. If they were mine and there's a stranger wanting to compete for my affection, I would also do the same and choose the little buns."
"And the other reasons?" The youngest of the Tang siblings continued to probe. These details were not something he would get to hear from his sister's lips, ever.
The devil shrugged.
"Reasons like she's incapable of loving a person in a romantic way and she didn't want to complicate things by ruining the friendship we've established for months." He explained.
Tang Beixuan hummed. That sounded like his sister alright, but Qin Jiran hasn't answered his most important question. How did he manage to win the heart of the elusive empress?
"So back to my question, how did you do it?" When Qin Jiran raised a brow in confusion, he continued. "How did you convince my sister that it's worth trying? That she wouldn't regret being with you despite the circumstances around you?"
"How did I?" Feng Tianyi gave it a good thought. What had he done to make Tang Moyu accept him?
"I showed her how persistent and unwavering I could be. I showed her that not only did I love her, but I also cherish those people around her, especially her twins. I already accepted that I could only be second in her heart, but at least I know I'm the only man in her heart."
