210 My Whole Life Is a Lie 2

Since Zhang Wuying had never treated her well from the start, from now on, she would never ever regard that woman as her mother. In Tang Moyu's eyes, Zhang Wuying was merely the woman her cowardly father had married, who had manipulated her, tortured her for years.

She should have known better… Tang Moyu shouldn't have ignored those red flags that flashed along the way. She should have suspected that something was off about the woman who raised her. Even her best friend, Li Meili had suspected that she wasn't Zhang Wuying's child by the way the older woman had treated her when she was growing up.

"Yan Qiuyu. I'm sorry, Moyu, but that is the only thing I can remember. She didn't talk much about your mother and only cursed her whenever she was drunk." The older Tang apologized.

"Yan Qiuyu." Tang Moyu hummed and covered half of her face with her right hand as she pondered where she should start her investigation. At least she had a name for a lead. Whoever this Yan Qiuyu who gave birth to her and made Zhang Wuying hate her was, she needed to know what happened in the past, to be able to face her future.

Tang Wanyu kept on muttering apologies to her for all the things she had and hadn't done in the past, but the empress had already tuned her out as her heart was filled with grief and uncertainty.

The empress was a person who usually didn't hold grudges against other people unless they wronged her badly. She wasn't one who would viciously retaliate if they didn't touch her bottom line, but this time… Tang Moyu couldn't stop the raging anger coursing through her veins.

For the longest time, she strived to become the perfect daughter, the daughter her parents could be proud of, and yet... yet she had only suffered grievances and betrayal from the family she came from. If she had known that she wasn't Zhang Wuying's daughter, she would definitely not force herself to become a cold and unfeeling person that she was now.

Tang Wanyu excused herself after she realized that her sister needed time alone to sort her thoughts after finding out the truth about her birth. She hoped Moyu would be able to overcome her frustration and anger over the matter and live happily with her well deserved new found family.

Once she left, Tang Moyu forced herself to push away the unwanted thoughts from her mind and resumed her work. She hadn't said anything and had kept her thoughts to herself, which eventually was noticed by the devil once dinner was over.

"Moyu? What's wrong?" Feng Tianyi noticed that Tang Moyu had left the guest house and went to the garden on her own after she tucked her twins in bed for the night.

Tang Moyu was used to keeping everything to herself, only allowing herself to cry when no one was around to see her in such a vulnerable state.

"Moyu!" He forced his wheelchair to move forward and reached the empress whom he had found crying alone, sitting on one of the benches in their garden. He stopped right beside where she was seated and pulled her in for a hug.

"Tell me, what's wrong. Why are you crying?" He demanded, allowing Tang Moyu to bury her face on his shirt, not caring if she was a crying mess right now. Now, that he was here, he wouldn't let her face everything on her own, no matter how complicated the issue was.

His woman was crying, for fuck's sake! He needed to know if someone had dared to bully her again, because he wouldn't hesitate to reclaim his title as the devil and destroy anyone who made Tang Moyu cry like this.

"Tianyi… my whole life is a lie. They played me well." Tang Moyu said in between her sobs, clinging unto him as if her life depended on him.

"What do you mean, Moyu?" Feng Tianyi could't understand what she meant. He let her cry her heart out and decided that his questions could wait until she was ready to share what had troubled her tonight.

Perhaps, Tang Wanyu had said something that caused Moyu to act like this. Tang Moyu had spent her whole afternoon with her elder sister, and when she came back, she had acted indifferent, up to this moment.

Feng Tianyi dried her tears and cupped both sides of her face, seeing her eyes rimmed with red.

"Moyu, you can tell me what it is. Did someone bully you? Then let me teach them a lesson they will never forget." He told her. "Who did this? Who made you cry?"

"My mother." Tang Moyu sniffed. "No…" She shook her head, remembering that Zhang Wuying wasn't her real mother. "She's not my mother. Not, according to Wan Jie."

Tears rolled down her cheek again. The overwhelming feeling of betrayal and resentment consumed her, even her logical mind was having a hard time controlling her sudden burst of emotions.

"What?" The devil furrowed his brow. Did she mean like Tang Wanyu, she was only an adopted daughter in her family? "Are you adopted? Is that it?" He asked.

Tang Moyu shook her head and pushed her long hair away from her face. She'd thought that it would only happen in dramas and novels, but to actually find out that she was born from a mistress…

No… she can't really tell if Yan Qiuyu was her father's kept woman. Right now, Tang Moyu only wanted to scream at how unfair her father was to her. Absolutely infuriated because he had allowed that wretched Zhang Wuying to ruin her life, just because she wasn't her real daughter.
