159 A Night Out With Friends 1
Gu Yuyao shrugged.
"What else? Fire them all. There's no point in keeping them if they can't do their job properly. Either that, or we will suffer bigger losses because of their incompetence."
"I agree with Yaoyao, Tianxin. I know you are worried about their welfare because they need to provide for their families, but we can't just overlook their incompetence for the past four months since we took over. If they are working with Zhelan to sabotage us, that's all the more reason why we cannot keep them." Tang Moyu added.
Lu Tianxin nodded her head in understanding. It was just that she couldn't help but wonder if they still had any redeeming points to save themselves from being fired.
"Look, Miss Lu. I know you are concerned about them, but if we're to choose between their expertise and loyalty, I'm sure Moyu would agree with me to choose loyalty. If they could sell us out to our competitors, then there is no guarantee that they would care whether the company crashes down or not, as long as they could still benefit from it." Gu Yuyao explained.
For Lu Tianxin, that sounded very harsh, but true at the same time. She needed to harden her heart, she didn't want to become their weakest link. And of course, she also understood what her cousin and Gu Yuyao meant. Tang Enterprise wasn't running a charity. The business was supposed to earn money, not lose it. She must strengthen her resolve and not be easily swayed by her empathy for their employees.
She sighed. She couldn't help but be worried about certain things after all. Dealing with this project was harder than she'd expected, but nevertheless, she would still need to cooperate and not cause additional problems to her cousin and Gu Yuyao.
"Now that we don't have to worry about the person-in-charged, what do you plan to do next, Moyu?" Gu Yuyao questioned the empress.
"I want this project to get back on the right track as soon as possible. Removing the incompetent team from it is one thing, we might need to see what else could be done to expediate the building and construction of the shopping mall. Perhaps, we should send two teams at the same time, but this might cost us more than we could afford on this project."
"Sounds doable if you ask me. I'll see what I can do to lessen the expenses, but we better send the teams out as soon as we can. By the way, are you sure you aren't planning to pin Tang Zhelan for embezzlement just as you'd put the previous CFO in jail?" Gu Yuyao asked curiously.
The man had been furious when Tang Moyu filed several cases against him and swore to the heavens for revenge, but the empress only gave him a cold look as if she wasn't bothered by his empty threats against her.
Lu Tianxin frowned. It seemed like Tang Zhelan had thrown Mr. Han under the bus to save her own ass, but what Tang Moyu said made sense to her. It was better to find solid evidence of Zhelan's schemes rather than waste resources by pinning her down with dismissable evidence.
Their meeting ended and she went back to her own office to sort out her pending before picking her son up from Moyu's place. It seemed that Luo Luo liked the two little buns' company and had insisted on spending more time with the twins while she was busy at work.
At least at her cousin's place, Lu Ziluo wouldn't feel alone and different. He was usually ignored by the other children his age at the Tang Estate because of his unknown parentage. The other Tang family members didn't want the boy anywhere near their children, making Luo Luo an outcast, just like the Tang twins, not that he was bothered by it anyway. But Lu Tianxin was still uncomfortable with it.
She couldn't understand why her family was treating her and Moyu like they brought shame to the family, when all she and Moyu did was they had children out of their expectations.
True, Moyu didn't know who fathered her child, but that didn't mean her worth as a person was diminished by it. She herself on the other hand, had raised a child who wasn't hers. But she loved Luo Luo like he was her own flesh and blood that he wouldn't think less of her just because she hadn't given birth to him.
Her phone rang, breaking her trance. Lu Tianxin answered it and was surprised to hear Ye Xiaozu's voice on the other end of the line.
"How is it? Have you figured out how you'll fix the mess your incompetent people made on the project?" His stoic, cold voice irritated her down to the bones. Why couldn't he be at least a little civil towards her? Did he really have to be an ass? She wondered.
Lu Tianxin took calming breaths before responding to him. She had to remind herself that she had nothing to do with him any longer and they could only be business associates.
Just as Tang Moyu reminded her last time, she had to draw a clear line between her personal and professional life. She cannot allow him to get involved with her affairs. She cannot allow him to enter Luo Luo's life when it was clear that he wasn't strong enough to keep his greedy relatives at bay yet.
"We've decided to replace the whole team altogether and send out two smaller teams to continue the project." She assured him.
