LUCIFER
After making up with her, Lucifer made sure to be more attentive to her needs. He also made sure to stay clear of the harem. Although that led to reports about Elena causing a fuss because she couldn't see him. Lucifer sighed deeply, she knew that one was getting a bit clingy. But he found it convenient to have her around because she offered more blood than his other offerings. If she continues making a fuss like that, he may have to dismiss her.
It would be a shame to search for another person who is willing to give a lot of blood. For now he is fine because he has Sumire but when she returns- Lucifer sighed deeply. He hasn't thought about it yet. However eventually he will have to return her.
For now there are more pressing matters. Lucifer's gaze fell on the man in front of him. Ibuki Suigetsu.
"I hear my granddaughter is here."
Lucifer frowned. "Where did you hear that from?"
"Does it matter? She is here, isn't she?"
"If she is?" Lucifer challenged.
Suigetsu exhaled deeply. "You should have discussed this with me. I knew how attached you were to her, and that you would take her eventually. But, I assumed that you would discuss things with me first."
Lucifer raised his eyebrow. "Why would I have to discuss things with you?"
"She is my granddaughter, my flesh and blood."
At those words Lucifer scoffed. "Now you are claiming blood ties to her. Where were you when her parents died?"
"Were you not the one who assisted in their deaths?"
Lucifer frowned. "I simply set the manor on fire. I didn't do anything else. They would have been able to escape."
Suigetsu chuckled. "I heard that you had been visiting frequently so you could court her. But, they sensed darkness from you and wouldn't give in to your demands."
"This isn't about me. You could have easily stepped up when her parents died at Hiriji's hands."
"I could have. But, I had no time to raise that silly child."
Silly child? That silly child is more special than anyone in this god forsaken planet.
"If you had taken her under your wing, you could gave
"-and have you take her away earlier?" Suigestu scoffed. "If she was with me, you would have taken her."
Indeed, if Suigetsu took Sumire under his care. She would have been miserable. It would have been easy to lure her away because she wouldn't have had anyone by her side.
"You cannot have her if that is what your asking."
Suigetsu frowned. "The deal was to give her to me."
Lucifer sighed. "I never agreed to that. See yourself out." He dismissed Suigetsu with a wave of his hand. The darkness pushed the man out of the room and Rui stepped from behind the bookshelf.
"That one is going to harm the lady directly sooner or later."
Lucifer sighed. "I am aware. Thankfully Sumire is training again, so her body should be in top shape. Just in case he tries anything."
"Uh-huh. I don't doubt the lady's strength, I have seen her practicing with the other guys. But, I think she needs a guard. Just in case."
"Why do you think I hired Kusabe Renna?"
"Uh, the real Kusabe? Boss, you really invited Makoto Soujiro's number one assassin to our doorstep?"
Lucifer sighed. "It's for Sumire's safety. Besides, she won't find any important information in this place."
"Indeed. But if she applied, that must mean Makoto Soujiro found out she was here before anybody else. Kusabe was part of the first batch of people we recruited. You're not worried about that? He clearly has connections that we cannot ignore."
"Makoto Soujiro and Aki. It's a relief that the two aren't working together." Lucifer tapped his pen. "Do we know where Aki is?"
"Unfortunately no. After he raided the last base, we couldn't find him."
Lucifer exhaled deeply. "Keep searching. He is bound to pop up sooner or later."
"Are you not worried, that the reason he disappeared is because he knows about Ibuki going missing?"
Actually, he has been thinking about that. Aki has always been very protective when it comes to Sumire. It's surprising that he? hasn't found out about the incidents that have harmed her. That man, is destroying his bases more important than Sumire's wellbeing? Or is he planning something?
Lucifer shakes his head. After giving some instructions he exited his office.
There are so many issues to tackle right now.
But the main issue should be dealing with the attack on his bases. Even though Arata is only attacking the bases that aren't important to him. They are still places that belong to the organisation. As the leader, he needs to take careful measures. Abroad, Terashima is making a mess with his clients causing them to lose their business.
Lucifer sighed. Terashima must be very occupied if he isn't rushing to her side. It's good, but he ought to stop him soon.
After walking for a few minutes, he bumps into someone.
It was Sumire. It looked like she had been running from something.
"What's wrong my heart?" Lucifer asked.
"T-there are--there were some strange men trying to get into the bathing chamber."
He gets a proper look at her appearance, and realized she was still wearing a bathing robe. Did she run here all the way from their room?
Lucifer's gaze dimmed. 'I knew I should have seen him off myself.' He pulled the girl into his arms.
"Ssh, my heart. You are safe now."
Rui is right, she definitely needs a guard. He didn't specify that Kusabe guard her. But maybe he should have. Because if he did, she would have been there. No matter how strong she is, nobody would expect to be attacked in the bath of all places.
Lucifer tucked a strand of stray hair from her face and kissed her eyelids. Sumire's entire body was trembling and he pulled her closer.
"My heart?" Lucifer realized that she had stopped speaking.
Something is wrong. Her face colour has gone pale and her breathing is unsteady.
She's hyperventilating.
Lucifer pressed his lips against hers, to give her some air.He felt Sumire grip onto his shirt.
'Do not worry Sumire. I will never leave you alone. Those people who harm you will pay with their lives.'
After he was sure Sumire had enough air, he scooped her up in his arms and kissed her eyelids, nose and lips. Sumire mumbled thank you before shutting her eyes. Lucifer turned his attention to Jacks who just appeared from the corner.
"Did you find them?"
Jacks nodded. "I was going to visit her, when I caught the attackers escaping from the window. It seemed Sumire did take one of them down, since Renna found someone dead in the bathroom."
Lucifer's gaze dimmed. Perfect, there was still people he can take his anger out on. As much as he disliked to leave her side now. He knew if he didn't go, there would be a high chance they'd find a way to escape. He turned to Jacks and placed the girl in his arms.
"Take her to the tower chambers. I'll have our room renovated before she returns there. Straight to the tower, no detours and guard her with your life if you have to."
Jacks nodded. "Of course. You don't have to ask." He trailed off. "Does she, remember anything yet?"
"A little, she has been getting flashes. But, do not overwhelm her just yet." Lucifer trailed off and leaned forward as he kissed her again. "I shall return soon my heart."
