Chapter 244 Sparring with Diana 3

In a way, when one sees the way other people use their magic, they can see the perspective of others and implement the techniques themselves.

Or rather develop techniques to counter them.

/SWOOSH/

As the fires swirled all around and the plants that were rather empowered by the stronger spell Diana used, Callius was not moving from the place he was standing but rather just countering every attack with his magic.

'Field Type Fire Magic, Solenoids.' He thought inside his mind as he controlled the fire in a way that the energy inside was conserved, but the fire was moving in a circular motion, making it seem like a pillar of fire protecting himself.

'Even though the control is still not perfect, I can at least use half of the power now.' Callius acknowledged as he knew that pushing himself to utilize his fire magic to its fullest extent was not possible. However, in the midst of his tactical adjustments, a sudden pain coursed through his chest, eliciting a groan of discomfort.

"Kurgh-," he gasped, feeling the effects of the gas that had been released by Diana's plants.

'So the gas started showing its effects.' Immediately realizing what had happened here, he thought to himself, since while fighting, Diana had been filling the room with her gasses as she had aimed to make him lose his control over his body.

'She is certainly my sister.' This thought passed through his head as his gaze wandered around the young girl who was looking at him with a focused gaze.

'My fire has yet to reach the level where it can pass through her plants.' Knowing this, Callius was aiming to improve his magic in the midst of the spar, which he had certainly done. But that didn't mean, Callius was at a disadvantage.

No, it was the opposite. Even though his magical power output was lower than Diana, the combat experience he had was doing wonders in this fight, as he was able to counter her attacks without missing one, until right now.

Since Diana used magic that affected one's body movements by making them breathe a natural substance released from a plant.

It was a battle of wits and adaptability, a clash between their respective strengths and weaknesses. The spar became a valuable opportunity for Callius to test his limits, uncover new perspectives and techniques, and strengthen his connection with his own magic.

Of course, that was also the case for Diana. 'The way he uses his magic, it is unique.' She thought. 'But, I feel like I had seen this before.' As she thought to herself, she wanted to identify the source inside her but couldn't.

Even though Diana did not have a tool like [All Seeing Eye], she too had an art of her own. And it was related to the magic itself. Therefore she was able to grasp the way Callius used his magic this quickly.

'But, brother. You can't win against me like that.' Thinking that, she decided to finish this spar, as her mana reserves were reaching their limits. 'He has already been affected by my gas. It is my win.' As this thought filled her head, she immediately started conjuring her final move.

In a way, this was what she had always done with others. If her enemy was resilient enough to withstand her continuous attacks, she would rather engage in a combat of durability as she would slowly exhaust her enemy, both mentally and physically.

And when everything reaches the climax, the little gas particles she had released from her plant would show their effects, as her enemies had already been exhausted mentally, making them vulnerable to the sudden change in their bodies.

Then she would finish the fight with swift and precise movements, just as she had done here.

/SWOOSH/

Conjuring a bunch of lances in front of her head, she immediately threw them at the Callius as she was aiming at her legs without injuring him fatally.

'It is my win, brother.' A triumphant smile was on her lips as she looked at her brother, who looked like he was struggling to move his body.

/BOOM/

'Got you, my dear sister.' But at that moment, she saw a smile on his lips as he suddenly moved at a fast speed from the place he was standing by, blasting himself off.

'You are always moving your left hand whenever you're conjuring a magic of attack.' Callius had keenly observed Diana's habits and tendencies throughout the match, patiently awaiting the perfect moment to strike. 'And you are always so full of yourself like everything will always go in your way.... Such a bad habit to have for a mage.... Let this brother of yours give a little lesson to you.'

In a burst of speed and agility, thanks to the fire magic he had used under his foot, Callius closed the distance between him and Diana, swiftly evading the lances she had thrown at him. Partially thanks to Diana being full of herself, but also his insane reflexes.

With a surge of fire mana, he summoned a blazing inferno around his right hand, shaping it into a concentrated sphere of intense heat.

'Now, you will try to use your vines to defend yourself while focusing only on one place.' He thought as he saw Diana's right hand raised as she was mumbling at a fast speed. 'But that won't save you.'

/SWOOSH/

Just as he thought, suddenly another bunch of vines which was rather firmer, appeared in front of his eyes.

/SWOOSH/

'Because I had already conjured another magic on your back.'

As he thought that, he immediately activated the simple spell of Fireball on Diana's back.

Sensing something was amiss, Diana instantly felt the hot energy coming behind her.

'Huh?' Before she could think anything further, the flames consumed her, singeing her clothes and scorching her skin. She staggered backward, the pain searing through her body, though she was able to cope with the pain with her sheer willpower thanks to the strength of fire being low.

With sheer willpower, Diana summoned the last reserves of her mana, conjuring a protective shield to mitigate the damage protecting herself from losing her consciousness. The flames subsided, leaving behind a charred battlefield.

Though, a scorching heat of fire was in front of her head, as her brother was standing right before her face.

"It is over, Diana," Callius mumbled as he looked into his sister's eyes with a serious look.

"Impressive, brother," she said, her voice tinged with admiration. "But this battle isn't over yet."

As a person with great pride, she didn't want to lose like this without being able to land a single hit on her brother. Thus, Diana mustered her remaining strength and summoned vines from the ground, entangling Callius in their grasp. The vines coiled around him, attempting to restrict his movements and drain his energy.

"I knew you would do that." However, instantly seeing through what she was preparing, Callius was unfazed. Drawing upon his experience and mental fortitude, he focused his mana into a concentrated burst, channeling it through his body. The flames erupted from his being, incinerating the vines that sought to bind him.

Breaking free from Diana's grasp, Callius unleashed a final onslaught. He weaved through the air with grace and agility, launching a series of precise fire attacks that pushed Diana to her limits.

Realizing the inevitable, Diana conceded defeat. She dropped to her knees, the exhaustion evident in her eyes. "You win, brother," she admitted, a hint of respect and obsession shining through her weariness.

Callius approached her as his hand reached the head of her sister while smoothly patting him over there.

"You have improved, Diana." With those words, he sat down, grabbing a nutritious shake from his ring....

-------------------------A/N----------------------------

It was crucial to include these chapters to showcase Callius' true strength and the level of his magic in comparison to the rest of the main cast. We had not previously witnessed him in any magical confrontations with others. So, I hope you weren't bored.

And please tell me if you like this style of fighting scenes. Now, I am trying to add more thoughts and details with each move rather than just expressing the scenes I am picturing in my head.

Hope you liked the chapters.
