CHAPTER 83

As soon as the door shut with a loud bang behind her, Andromeda dropped the drink in her hand and picked up her phone.

Her brows kneaded as her fingers continuously tapped skillfully on her phone before her tired gaze settled on the contact she wished to see. "Perfect."

She waited, half eager for the call to ring on the other end and receive an answer hopefully.

"Hello," she heard the familiar masculine voice call out.

"Hello, dear. Good morning."

"Morning. How are you, Andy?"

"Fine… I guess." She drew out the last part. She wasn't so sure about how to answer that and knowing him, he always had a way to figure it out.

"Andy. You know whether or not you tell me, I'll still figure it out. Why? Did you stress from work or something? Did anything happen to your dad?"

"No, no, no." She shook her head slightly, "Not my family. Just stressed out with work, that's all."

"I see…" There was a bit of silence after he responded in a not so convincing manner before speaking, "Okay, then is there anything I can help with? Who knows, perhaps my sonorous voice would help you keep calm."

A loud uncontrollable laughter fell from her lips at his words. Recalling back to those years, he usually sang for her when she was stressed with school projects and other related stuff like that. He was always there.

"What? You seemed to love my voice back then. Don't tell me you have suddenly outgrown me?" he feigned annoyance while Andromeda's eyes went skyward at his remark.

"Oh, come on, drama prince. I appreciate it, but no. Not that okay? However, I do need your help on another matter."

"Okay," his tone mellowed down sardonically, "since my baby doesn't want my voice, what other ways is there?"

"Stop being silly, Tian and besides, I am not a baby."

"Fine. Tell me. How can I help?"

"Better." She cleared her throat before continuing, "Please, you know back then when I was in Paris, there was this company I always got all the rarest of materials from?"

"Sure. Andy's Fabrics, right?"

"Yes."

"And the manager loved you because your name was Andromeda and always got you whatever you wanted," Xie Tian recalled.

"Yeah."

"Alright, what's the help?"

"I lost contact and it's been five years. I'm practically out of ideas on how to get in touch with him again. We have a fashion show coming up and I need some rare materials. If it's hard, I know only him can find me what I want or give me a perfect alternative."

"Sure."

"But the problem now is if I go through normal route…. well they have become extremely popular over the years. And it's hard to get what I want in such a short time."

"Oh." He let out a heavy sigh. He would know better because he was in Paris but she wasn't. "And I heard the old man stepped down for his son to handle the business due to some health reasons."

"Oh my!"

"Seriously? When you cut off from Paris, did you never intend to keep touch no matter what?"

"That is what cutting off means, Xie. I am sorry but I had my reasons," Andromeda explained.

"Fine. I would help you reach out to him. I…" he began changing his tone. "Happen to know the son. So getting his father's contact would be easy."

He winked at nothing even though she could not see him. "Don't worry, Andy. I would be able to place the orders you want first hand. I am sure he would be happy you did not give up on your passion and are going full book into your career."

Andy couldn't help but nod at the thought of it too, "Yeah. I guess I ought to pay Paris a visit one day. I would though. If you can get me his number, please do as well."

'No worries. You see why you need me? You can't run from me, baby."

"Shut it, Xie."

"Hahaha," a husky laughter tore through his throat, calming her worried nerves at once.

For some reason she could not explain, his words always did that and at the same time, kept her on edge.

"Thanks, Xie."

"Welcome, Andy. Now get a little break and relax. I would handle it for you."

"Sure."

Getting such affirmation from him, her chest felt free instantly. It was as though the load belonging to God knows who had been relieved by her maker.

Checking her watch, she noticed she still had a good eight minutes to catch her breath before her team returned and work continued.

Just like that, another day passed them by, with each bringing her close to the day she would be revealed to the world as the top designer and creative director of Starlight Apparel.

Just like that, her work to avoid Liu Xueyi was successful but little did she know, it may not entirely be like that.

She had successfully gotten another tired front for the day and gave everyone a thirty minutes break to catch their breaths.

With the day coming close, they got fewer breaks at lunch, so whenever she gave a break, she made up for it and everyone was on board with her making the work easier.

Seated behind his desk, Liu Xueyi spent his time typing on his computer screen and finalizing some of the documents and files needed for the business proposal to send out to his father, when he heard a knock on his door.

"Enter."

The door pushed open, revealing a young man. Without being told, he knew better to keep the boss waiting. He walked in, lowering his head and waited for Liu Xueyi go ahead before he spoke.

"Carry on, I am listening. How has work been these past few days?"

The young man cleared his throat, casting a side glance at the office to help him get his shit together under the tense atmosphere Liu Xueyi was putting up.

"Good morning sir. We just took a break from work."

"And?" He typed on without breaking a sweat or casting his gaze on the young man.

"She is over-exerting herself to meet with the orders and also get everything ready in time for the fashion show," the young man reported.

"Is that so... Are there any problems she is facing, Cao Yan?"
