CHAPTER 59
~Two hours later~
Seated on a stool facing the bar, Andromeda brought the cup in her hand to her lips and in one gulp, swallowed all of the liquor.
A wide and aloof smile appeared on her face as she lifted her head and then dropped it on her hand without warning.
"Ah! Andromeda! You need to pour it all out!" She encouraged and served herself another glass full of wine.
"That bastard… I am done. No, I just have cut off from him. I am still nowhere near done with him. By the time I'm done, his whole legacy would be finished."
She said the last part in a deep voice and laughed out loud to the hearing of the bartender who shook his head at her.
"Stop laughing. I am celebrating my freedom." She arched her brows at him playfully and returned his half-smile with a reassuring one. "Get me another bottle when this one finishes."
"Aye."
On the far left side of the lounge, a man was seated in one of the booths as his pair of dangerous eyes shone in delight staring off in her direction.
"Hhehehe, when the cats are not around, the mouse goes off to play," he muttered to himself, chuckling at the absurdity of the situation.
Mere looking at her, he had the idea that she could not hold her liquor. She was not even up to three cups in and she had begun speaking out of control and moving her body in a sluggish manner.
He beckoned to one of his men standing behind him and then whispered an instruction while pointing at Andromeda.
With his gaze still fixated on her, he reached into his pocket and took out his phone. He peeled his gaze briefly from Andromeda and searched for a specific contact and dialled the number.
He waited patiently for the call to go through and once the ringing started, it stopped followed by the expected deep voice of a man.
"Hello, Bolin, what's up?"
"Nothing much. How is the movie thingy coming along?"
"Same old. Tsk, you weren't supposed to miss it. Why aren't you here? The guys are all around waiting to enjoy the fun," he scolded playfully.
"Hhahaa," chilled laughter tore through his throat and got drowned in the music at the club. "You know me. I am sorry but I wasn't feeling it." He leaned forward and picked up his glass of wine before leaning back against his couch.
"I see. Can't blame you, I am getting tired of the party as well. However, this is different. You treat me as though I am not someone important? What are we bros for?"
"Hahahaa, exactly my point," he chuckled lightly again.
"You're drunk," Liu Xueyi stated flatly.
"A bit tipsy but nothing out of the ordinary. At least I hold my liquor strong against you," he mused.
"Show off. Enjoy. I would rather show off on other things. Drinking is not for me," he laughed.
"Oh well," he shrugged and peeled his gaze back to Andromeda. "Besides, if I was not out here, I would have not seen this lost cutie pie of yours."
"Huh?" Immediately Liu Xueyi's voice became serious. "What do you mean?"
"What else would I mean, Xueyi? I found a lost puppy here at the bar drinking her sorrows away."
"Which of the bar?"
"Well, the club in the estate. You should hurry. I would not be here long and I can only ensure my men keep unwanted hands away. I know you wouldn't want that right?"
He had expected that Liu Xueyi would counter everything about what was being but rather than such a response, he could hear the heavy breathing of his friend as he took action immediately.
"Tsk, naughty pesky CEO. After this, you cannot deny you do not like this girl," Rong Bolin taunted slowly.
"Rong, listen up, under no circumstance are you allowed to slip out of that lounge," Liu Xueyi ordered.
"Why? I have helped eno…"
SCREEECHHHH!
He cringed from the noise the car made through the phone before letting out a wicked smile.
"Holly molly! Hahaha, I should say be careful but you know I love danger." His eyes sparkled with mischief at the thought of Liu Xueyi driving rough.
"Looks like someone is eager, huh?" Rong Boling added.
"Just watch her. I am on my way."
"Fine. Once I see your shadow, I am off. We shall drink over this another day."
He did not wait to get a response from Xueyi before he ended the call abruptly and chuckled evilly.
More than anything, the guys loved it when Liu Xueyi showed an interest in any woman.
And ever since the last time he did and his past became terrible, he avoided relationships like they were plagues.
Fine, have fun all you want. He wouldn't. Take a girl for pleasure's sake, Liu Xueyi was so stiff neck to bend any rule for nobody until that fateful night when he got drugged.
With the speed he went at, it did not take him long to arrive at the club and found her at the bar, drunk. He took one long glance at the surrounding, hoping to see Rong Bolin but did not find him.
All he saw was the shadow of a man and several other men close to the secret exit. 'Thanks, man.'
Although they just met, he had always felt the urge to protect her and just like now, seeing her crying while still gulping down so much drink made his heart clench.
Just like that night. Perhaps it was a situation like this that got that lady into such a state.
Although she had no one to protect her from him, Andromeda was different, she had him now to protect her from the others, so he thought.
With each step he took, flashes of the night and her blurred face in his vision came flooding back in. He arrived at her side and placed a comforting hand on her back.
The second he did, all the other eyes of men that had raked over her from where she sat turned away. If only she knew she was like bait to sharks.
"Andromeda," he called softly.
She turned to the side and saw him. Her cheeks puffed up, but it did not hide her puffy eyes from all the crying she had done.
"Why are you crying?" He asked taking the stool close to her and drawing closer to listen.
"Crying?" She brushed it off and took the last gulp of her drink. "I am not crying," she faced him again. "I am celebrating."
"Fine. What is the occasion?"
"Ending all there is with Wu Bai." Hearing that name, his eyes dimmed at her and brought his hand on her arm.
"What is wrong Andromeda? Tell me, I would take revenge for you."
"You will?" Her swollen eyes shone at him when she heard that and rather than feel happy, he watched as more tears welled up in her eyes and the next thing he knew, she burst into another fit of tears.
"Andromeda."
She spent the next few minutes just crying with him there to watch her. After that, she whipped her head up and said the phrase that would break his heart and change their lives for good.
"He cheated on me."
"What?"
"That scumbag… He played me for five good years of my life," she revealed. "I was nothing but a pawn to him."
His heart clenched at the news, but he kept quiet and listened. She ended up voicing out her pain, telling him how she overheard them plotting against her and doing things in her presence thinking she was asleep.
By the time she was done, leaving out important details about the location, the event and other things, she shook her head and when she gazed into his eyes again, all he saw was determination amidst the crying.
"No. No more. I am done, crying, Xueyi. I am done feeling sorry for that scoundrel. I do not know what was wrong with me but I… should be happy, right?"
He nodded at her and watched as she reached for her glass cup and brought it to her lips. Empty!
Her eyes widened in realization and she searched for the bottle. That too was empty. Not letting her do more harm, he took the bottle from her hand and turned her to face him.
"I will protect you, okay. No one would ever hurt you."
Those words struck a chord in her heart and she felt safe. Placing both hands on his suit, Andromeda lowered her head for a minute. Someone finally, really cared.
The next thing he knew, she whipped her head back up and pulled on his suit, bringing her face closer.
"Perfect then. I can just chase after you. Come here, give me a kiss let's make that Wu Bai jealous."
His eyes widened at the sudden turn of events. His heart, beating at the fastest rate it had done. He had always teased her for a kiss. Now that she wanted it, he was…
Before Liu Xueyi could grasp what was going on, Andromeda tugged on his suit some more and pressed her lips together while shutting her eyes as she leaned forward for a kiss.
