Chapter 529 The First Move

CHAPTER 529

It wasn't hard for things to get back to normal with the movie's production. And even when Yu Weilan was offered the role that would best help her, she begrudgingly accepted.

To her, if she was going to make Andy pay or see her fail, she wanted to do it and see it up close.

Taking his anticipated vacation with Andromeda right after the talk show with the cast, Liu Xueyi did not waste time digging deeper into Yu An's background.

Till now, she had not relented in dragging most of the top companies into doing business with her, and she was moving quickly.

Disturbed by her advancement, Rong Bolin and Liu Xueyi had to meet up and plan a course of action.

Seeking help from Tang Yan as well and having him dig into their legal past, the trio were ready to bring Yu An down should anything shady happen.

The news delivered to Liu Xueyi concerning the Sun family did not go unchecked. Having Xu Fang handle the matter discreetly, Liu Xueyi ensured Andromeda knew nothing of it.

As much as she often stated that she did not need her family, especially her father, he knew how deeply family meant to her.

Especially how much she tried to block out the pains that came with not having anyone to back her up.

Staring at her picture on the frame on his desk, a soft smile broke out of the corners of his lips as his mind took him down memory lane, recalling their first meeting.

How bold Andromeda came knocking, seeking a formidable foe to fight her battles with her—a kind of backing he was sure he would give her anytime and day, whether she asked or not.

Just then, a knock came on his door. After answering, he gave permission to enter. Liu Xueyi's gaze focused on the door when it opened to see Fu Chu Hua with someone behind her.

"Sir," she began, her confidence shining through as she clutched tightly to the documents in her hand—an attempt to hide whatever nervous situation she was going through. "You have a guest. Mr. Lian."

She stepped to the side, paving the way for Mr. Lian to take a step inside.

"Thank you. You may leave." Turning his gaze to Mr. Lian, he gestured for the young man to take his seat.

Looking not more than his early thirties, Lian Jung gave a nod, accepting the offer as he took his seat opposite Liu Xueyi.

The moment he sat, he wasted no time with pleasantries and hit the nail on the head on why he was there.

"I am sure you must have received a call from the chairman, Mr. Liu." He paused, waiting for Liu Xueyi's response. When the latter nodded, he continued, "Good, as what I am about to say requires a lot of knowledge, and we need to act fast."

"Or simply watch and access what is happening before we make a move without..."

Liu Xueyi did not get to complete his words when Lian Jung interjected, "I believe the Fang family is pushing through with their threat. Should that happen, I wonder what the Liu family would do about it."

Quickly accessing the man before him, Liu Xueyi's eyes narrowed on Lian Jung. He had a point. He wasn't known for being simply impudent or overly sure of himself.

If there was anything, the moment you see Mr. Lian Jung in your office, you know it is a near-critical situation.

If it was the former, then there was hope, but when it became the latter, all possible solutions needed to be thought of. Knowing this, Liu Xueyi was sceptical when it came to the Fang family.

They could be playing a game, waiting and watching to see how they reacted. And with Yu An's business gaining ground every day, the last thing he wanted was making enmity with one ofthe bigest investors.

Still, he did not appreciate being backed into a corner or put in a tight spot. If things became terrible, getting other investors in their stead would be easy. A pain in the ass but easy nonetheless.

"What if they are testing waters?"

"Then might I remind the ruthless CEO that the company you run isn't one to test waters? I heard they are pulling out major investment which we all know supports the current movie being shot by Director Qi."

"I see. That's their target, huh?" Liu Xueyi muttered more to himself than Mr. Lian.

"Pardon?"

Lifting his gaze, his brows creased a bit. "How far have they gone?"

"The movie is at its peak of production. Furthermore, the anticipation from the fans has gotten higher since Ms. Kai took to acting. Should things flop now, it would make Liu Company and its entertainment line seem like a joke. More investors would fight on this. Delay would happen, and the traction gathered may be lost."

Understanding the situation, Liu Xueyi lifted both hands in front of him, his expression turning colder by the minute.

"What do they want? They cannot pull such a stunt and not want something."

Mr. Lian nodded, adjusting his glasses. "My thoughts exactly but that is for you to watch out for. They will make an insane request soon."

"I know. Okay, time to counter. When their demand comes, we'll be sure to meet them with indifference and state our own terms."

"Now, we are on the same page, Mr. Liu. We need to make sure they know who owns this company and majority of the shares. I have some proposals with me. Your secretary is reviewing them in the meantime. She knows how dire the situation is."

Liu Xueyi arched a brow. Now he understood why Fu Chu Hua gripped those documents that way.

She was one loyal worker he had met in all his years of working. Her service to the company was deeply appreciated.

"Alright. But first of all, I need to make a call to someone. I bet he'd be thrilled with becoming an investor in my entertainment company."

A dark glint flashed in Liu Xueyi's eyes as he picked up his phone, searched for a contact and dialed the number.
