CHAPTER 346 - In Her Favour 3

As much as the judge was happy, they found pieces of evidence against those who tried to harm him, he was not one to play favourites."

Noting his loss, Lawyer Chang kept silent and allowed Attorney Longwei to continue.

"I would have but not my mother. Her life was threatened too, so I could not act. She was in the hospital as of then and one wrong move would have ended her life."

"So, you dropped it all?"

"No. I fled. To a place, he could no longer contact me and stayed hidden."

"Why return and why speak now? Do you not fear your life and mother's life or…?"

"My mother is dead. I have no one but myself. I do not fear for my life but if saying the truth would save more fashion designers and ladies from his claws, I would. Which is what I am doing now."

"That is all, your honour," Attorney Longwei dipped her head in as she took her seat.

She had hoped to use the fact that Sarah had not reported this back then to their advantage and save Wu Bai but turns out he messed with the wrong girl.

A satisfactory smile spread across Lawyer Chang's lips and he proceeded to play the recordings and tape.

Once everything was done, it seemed as though Beatrice's case was nothing but a tiny ice cube in the mountain of icebergs.

On and on his worth fell as he was proven to be a liar, a threat, a thief and a con.

"With all of these charges against you, how do you plead, Mr Wu Bai?"

"I may have threatened her but I did nothing," Wu Bai stated, clinging to whatever string of hope was left anywhere.

"Is that so?" Lawyer Chang raised his brows at him.

Most people would plead guilty and not compound their problems but here he was, fighting a lost battle.

"Yes. She is lying."

"She is not lying," Andromeda chimed in.

She knew where this was going and she hoped deep down that this judge would not be blinded by his words the way the other was.

"She is. Just the same way, Liu Xueyi should be sued for harassment, she should be sued for defamation."

"Oh. Are you pressing charges, Mr Wu?" Judge Jungie inquired.

He loved it when suspects were ruled by their emotions. They ended up making mistakes that would further implicate them.

"Yes."

"Then can I also sue you for harassment, an almost rape case and theft?" Andromeda's question resounded shocking everyone.

She had wished to stay away from this current trial and not speak up, especially with the almost rape incident.

"My client is trying to say that with what happened to Ms Lee, she faced something similar to what we have seen here. Due to my client's confidentiality, I cannot state what they are," Lawyer Chang chimed in, protecting the issue Andromeda faced.

As much as he wished for everyone to know the evil person Wu Bai was, he needed to protect her.

"Your honour, if I may," Attorney Longwei signified.

Once he gave her to go ahead, she rose to her feet and turned to face Andromeda.

"Miss Kai, I think you should not implicate yourself further with an almost rape case cannot situation. Or my client would actually sue for that."

"He is guilty of so many things," she retorted where she sat.

"Like what? Is there anything new? Because for someone who you were to marry, you sure hold so much grudge that I can only see it as jealousy because your marriage fell through."

"I," Andromeda stated firmly. "I broke off the marriage, point of correction. And I have my reasons."

Exhaling sharply, she returned her eyes to the judge.

"It may not count now."

"It does. You should be held accountable for your words, Ms. Kai. This is the court of law."

"Fine. At my bachelorette party, my ex-fiancé drugged me and was going to rape me."

"Was? Meaning he never did and it was a party, anyone could have drugged you."

"Yes, but the only drinks I had that day were specifically handed to me by him. As much as I don't drink, he kept on forcing me to take more."

"He was in a happy mood. You were getting married the next day."

"Yes, and thankfully he took me up to rest but that was when I discovered his ploy. For the five years of our relationship, he had been cheating on me with his top designer."

"So, you decided that they had stolen your designs because of that or you simply used that as a payback?"

"I think it has been established that Ms. Zhang here did so. Not only that, while I was barely unconscious, he planned to rape me."

"Who would do that when they were getting married the next day?"

"Wu Bai would, to blackmail me."

"Why?"

"The very reason for the flaw in the contract and my designs. I never complained about her stealing the credit for my work because he always said it was for the good of the company's image that Beatrice maintained ownership and if I loved him, I should let it be."

"For a graduate like you, isn't that stupid?"

"Yes. I do not deny it. I was in love with him. He wished to blackmail me to prevent me from leaving. And now I see he was scared I would grow tired of his ways and want out like Ms Lee."

"Accusations. Then why did you not report? Or is this all a lie?"

"I didn't because Beatrice pulled him away to have a good time with him."

"And do you have proof?"

"I do not which was why I also could not report anything. Also, after checking with my lawyer, there was nothing I could do. I signed the contract in a hurry, thanks to him."

"I…"

"That is enough. I have heard more than enough to judge this case," Judge Jungie stated, hitting his hammer on his desk.

Having stated the evidence before him and what Wu Bai was accused of, he linked the proof sent to him to the bribe of the judge to Wu Bai.

What Wu Bai had not counted for, was the fact that when Fang Mei wished to help, she used his name to do her work, just in case anything went to shreds.

Instructions were sent to the jury which deliberated on the case before them. Several minutes after, the jury's decision was announced to the entire court.

"In accordance with the law, Mr Wu Bai, you have been found guilty of all charges filed against you. Ms. Beatrice Zhang, you have been found guilty of the following crimes."

He went ahead to list her crimes as well as Wu Bai's and gave his verdict along with their punishment.

By the time everything was done Andromeda tilted her head back and pressed her hands against her face, shutting her eyes in relief as several sounds erupted from behind her.

"It was ruled in your favour, Andromeda. You won. Congratulations," Lawyer Chang said in a whisper before pulling away.

She could not believe that after everything, things played out this way.
