Liu Xueyi tried to hold in his laughter, not wanting to annoy Andromeda.
When his mother spoke, she nailed the mistake Andromeda made to completion.
"So, you admit that a vacation with Xueyi has taken over your mind?"
"Huh?"
Andromeda's eyes widened. She finally understood what was going on and it wasn't one she was winning.
Immediately a faint blush appeared on her face at his mother's insinuation and when Liu Xueyi let go of his laughter, her cheeks flushed more.
"Honey."
"I'm sorry but haha mother is right."
"Huh?"
"The vacation you had with me did make you forget," Liu Xueyi emphasized.
"And whose fault is that?" Andromeda questioned.
"Not mine. I am very innocent right now."
She rolled her eyes at him and shook her head. It was useless arguing with him.
In the end, he was going to win.
"I am glad my son is free and happy with you, Andromeda. Just from the sound of his laughter, I can tell you make him happy."
Even with such praises, Andromeda was at a loss for words on how to respond to her.
All her life she kept a low profile. She did great with her studies but having such praise like this from a mother was rare.
After all, she lost hers.
Back then she had the joy of her mother, the praise, the support and love but when she died, Andromeda tasted despair.
"I…" she gulped and took in a deep breath. "I do not know what to say, Mrs Liu. Thank you for honouring me."
Seeing how bashful she was, Liu Xueyi held her hand lovingly and placed a peck on her cheeks.
"Mum, you are making her blush too much. How would you compensate me?"
"Huh?" Both mother and girlfriend reacted in shock.
No one had expected Liu Xueyi to say those words out loud but he did.
What compensation was he asking for in the first place, Andromeda wondered.
Was he not the one who ought to compensate his mother for her doing a good job? His job.
Her eyes lit up as understanding washed over her. Exactly.
It was his job and not his mother's, so he wanted compensation. To him, his rights were stolen from him and thinking about this, Andromeda found his actions adorable.
The extent to which he showed his love for her always warmed her heart.
"Compensate you?" Mrs Liu's voice echoed in the room, following Andromeda's giggle.
"Yes."
"Why?"
"She is mine, mother. Only I have the right to make her blush."
"Tsk and what of those times you make me blush? Did your father request compensation from you?" Mrs Liu challenged.
"That is different."
"Nope, it is one and the same," she added.
"Sigh, mum. I am your son; you also belong to me."
"And where was your mighty head when he was paying my Pin Jin?"
Andromeda cast a shocked glance at him. She had not expected her future mother-in-law to be this good with her words but even now she could tell she kept Liu Xueyi in his place.
"Oh, I know," she began. "You were still stuck up in heaven or God hasn't even thought of forming you in my womb. So, yes, my dear. I am not yours."
Accepting his defeat, "Fine, you win. How can you be so good at this, mum?"
"Because I gave birth to you. Now, I think we have bored Andromeda to death with our argument."
"No, no, no. Not at all. I am fine honestly. I appreciate the fact that you were this free in my presence, ma. Thank you. It was welcoming."
"No thank you. All right, I would leave you two love birds alone. Liu Xueyi, do not forget, I will push through for the dinner tomorrow."
"Tomorrow? "Mum, we just arrived," Liu Xueyi explained with alarm laced in his tone.
"I know. And like I said before, I would not give you an excuse to evade me this time."
"Mother."
"Stop whining and complaining. The best o can give you is Friday evening. At the very least you know you can eat to your fill and then you can sleep the Saturday off."
Listening to how Mrs Liu disciplined her son, not giving him a chance to impress her or get away with things made Andromeda feel happy.
She was glad he had such a relationship with his mother. Now for his father, she wasn't sure.
But regardless, she was glad about everything.
"Fine. You win."
"Of course, I always win. Andromeda, see you soon. I need to leave."
"Sure. Until next time, ma."
"Bye."
The second the call went dead, Liu Xueyi whipped his head to the side and stared at Andromeda with wide eyes.
"Young lady."
"Young man," she answered imitating his pose and the fierceness in his eyes.
"Yes, love?"
Her cheeks puffed up, revealing a charming smile. "How can you be so adorable?" Andromeda teased.
"Good genes my love. Good genes."
"I see. And I know you got that greatly."
"Sure. I am a…"
He had only begun speaking when Andromeda cut him off with a kiss. For the next few seconds, they remained in that position, sitting on their sides while their lips locked in a lovely awaited kiss.
She broke the kiss and peered deeply into his eyes. "I love you, Liu Xueyi Blade."
