CHAPTER 276
Knowing his mother, she was going to make sure the dinner was lit. He wasn't too sure as to whether or not she was going to invite their extended family.
Regardless, he was getting ready for anything. Should he put proper actions in place, then everything would be well.
At the very least, Andromeda would not have to go through anything with his family. However, informing her was always the best course of action.
Dialling her number, he waited for the call to go through and once it went, he brought it to his ears.
"Hello, love. How are you?" His baritone voice echoed in the surrounding.
"Hi, babe. I'm good. You?"
"What can I say? I have been better. So, what are you doing at the moment?"
"The usual. What's up? What about you?" Andromeda inquired.
"Nothing much. I just finished a call with my mum."
As soon as she heard the mention of his mum, Andromeda straightened her back on her seat a silence fell instantly.
Sensing the silence, he was forced to ask why she had suddenly become less chatty.
"Huh, Andy, are you there? Hey, Andy."
"Huh?"
"What's going on, tell me?"
"You do not have to worry yourself too much. I knew this day would come when I would have to meet your family."
"And trust me, they are nice. At least you have met my kid sister. She literally loves you."
"Yes, Xiao Xin is a darling. However, parents are a big deal and a big step you know."
"Then what are you scared of?"
"Nothing. I have virtually not had this done before. When I dated Wu Bai, only once I met hides family and that was towards her marriage."
"Andy," his deep voice cut in before she could think more deeply than she had already done.
"Love, I am no Wu Bai. I love you genuinely from my heart and if it had not been that my mum wanted to meet you, it would have been a bit later. I personally, I wanted you prepared, less overwhelmed and also to have proposed to you but..."
The more he spoke, the more Andromeda's eyes went wide as she listened.
After her failed marriage attempt with Wu Bai, she never thought she would get into another relationship soon or even meet such a caring, handsome young man who wasn't out to just use her and abandon her.
"Liu Xueyi," Andromeda began.
In essence, all the words he had spoken failed to land a mark on her hearing due to how distracted she was.
"Huh?"
"Can you please recap?"
A knowing smile formed around the corners of his lips before nodding slightly. "Sure."
Without further ado, he dipped his right hand into his pocket and made his way over to the window in his house.
"Andromeda Kai."
She took a deep breath as well, getting ready for the words he was going to tell her.
"I love you, very much. I haven't felt this way in ages and meeting you has had a huge impact on my life. I want you to know that I do not take you for granted and I want you in my life."
Her eyes brimmed with joy and tears just having to hear him say that.
It wasn't a proposal since he didn't want to just yet. Even at that, she was happy he treasured her.
"I know what you have faced in the past and I do not plan on wasting your time. However, I would not rush you as well. You have plans, dreams and goals. I want to see you through that. Now while we do that, I also want you to feel welcome with my family."
"It would be an honour, Xueyi. It would be a big honour."
"Good. Now, mum wishes to meet you. She has invited you over for a family dinner on Wednesday."
"Ohh..."
"Yes. I am sorry the time is too close and you..."
"I would go," Andromeda chipped in quickly. She was not one to be held back by her past and to crown it up, especially a pass with a scoundrel like Wu Bai inside.
She had long finalized in her heart that she loved Liu Xueyi and gave him her body, heart and soul.
She had no regrets and she did not need one.
"I would go. Wednesday would be fine," Andromeda concluded.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. You do not have to worry so much. I am sure I would love your parents. Thanks for considering me though."
"In that case, thanks."
"Haha, stop it. No need to thank me."
"Not really, you deserve all the praises, petting and pampering. And that being said, we would need to prepare. How about going shopping with me tomorrow after work?"
"Sounds like a good plan."
"Great. I will pick you up from your office when we are done tomorrow, okay?"
"Sure. By the way, have you had dinner?"
"I-I... huh..." He did not know how he was going to out the words to her.
He had been too busy finalizing some documents needed to seal off the bidding proposal and forgot himself.
Thankfully, Andromeda nor his mother wasn't at his house, or else he would have gotten the scolding if a lifetime.
"Xueyi..."
Her voice trailed off in a warning tone, reminding him of what was coming should he give her a negative answer.
"I do not want to lie to you. I have been busy."
"Then why didn't you order your food, huh? Or take even as small as five minutes to microwave your meal? I specifically prepared you different dishes to help with that but yet you..."
"I love you."
Even before she got the chance to nag him, Liu Xueyi played his cards well.
She had a way of letting go when he kissed her, told her he loved her or even hugged her.
He did not want to stress her brain as she did so much for him on Sunday.
"Taking a break would distract me, just like mum's call. I would be done in five minutes, and after that, I would eat. Now don't be mad and forgive me, okay? My heartbeat, do not stress your lovely head because of me."
"If you do not want that, then at least take care of yourself properly."
"I will. It's late, I need you to relax first. I will call you before I go to bed. But if you are asleep by then, take this, mwah... Kisses. Goodnight love."
"Fine. Goodnight, honey. Love you."
