Whoever planned the attack had a pretty good grasp of the situation in the fortress. Ethan saw hundreds of dark golems climbing the walls and others crossing the gate. Meanwhile, an equal number of specters were flying above the walls and attacking those who resisted with magic projectiles.

"I'd better leave the flying enemies for later," Ethan muttered and then summoned his claymore.

Those dark golems seemed like trouble, at least to Ethan's current strength. Still, he knew what he would need to do in order to make things more even. Without a hint of hesitation, Ethan grabbed the potion he obtained from Ian and then drank it. In the next moment, his body was filled with energy and power.

Congratulations! Your health increased by ten points!

Congratulations! Your mana increased by ten points!

Congratulations! Your stamina increased by ten points!

Your health, mana, and stamina will be recovered by ten points for the next six hundred seconds.

In order for them to move like humans, golems had to have a core, and the core was usually located on their heads or on their left chest. Sometimes, golems had two cores in those places. Knowing that Ethan fired several Water Balls at the monsters when they entered his range, hitting both points. Of course, he didn't cause much damage, and however, he successfully weakened those hard spots.

When a few of those golems turned around to see what hit them, it was already too late. Ethan beheaded three of them while piercing the left chest of two others. Ethan didn't really feel anything when the three of them fell dead.

"The head, huh," Ethan held his sword firmly. "I guess that works better for me."

Several golems turned around to face the stranger who had the balls to attack them from behind alone. Still, they got hit by Water Balls before they could do anything. Since their core was in the head, the attack stunned them for a second. That alone gave Ethan plenty of time to approach and behead them. Despite his crazy accuracy and speed, it was only a matter of time before a golem could wound Ethan and that soon happened. Despite their size, a golem suddenly charged toward Ethan and, like a truck, hit him from behind. The impact sent Ethan flying for several meters, and he only stopped when he hit another golem. A single attack made him lose half of his health. Despite that, the pain was quickly decreasing.

"I don't really need it," Ethan said and then jumped split the golem's head in two. "But thank you for activating Frenzy!"

The extra power Ethan received had been enough to make him able to defeat the golem without using Water Balls. That being said, thanks to the potion, that effect soon disappeared. Despite the exhaustion and his sore muscles, Ethan cut down the golems left and right like a machine. Although he couldn't use anything around him to make the fight end faster, thanks to the mystic potion and his Water Balls, he managed to fight and slay the golems without worrying about anything aside from swinging his sword. The simulator was incredible, but the sensation of his power returning was much more intense now.

Before the effects of the potion could disappear, Ethan saw himself panting right, standing above a small mountain of corpses. Those belonged to the golems that were trying to enter the fortress. Although he defeated more than two hundred of them, the fight was far from over. Ethan's felt like his body was heavy like those golems, and yet, he still walked toward the gate of the fortress.

"I won't be able to rely on the potion, so magic is out of the question," Ethan concluded. "I need to increase my strength and speed to evade the attack of the specters. This is probably the best solution since it will increase my stamina and decrease my fatigue."

Since his Swordsmanship also leveled up a few times, Ethan was confident that he could defeat the golems with brute strength alone. Still, he couldn't help but feel like he was taking his time to use his skill points. In the past, the very moment he obtained them, he used to make the battles easier after all.

"I don't remember being that careful on the battlefield," Ethan shrugged. "Well, people change, and I'm living proof of that."

When Ethan crossed the gates of the fortress, he found numerous dead golems alongside the corpses of several guards wearing full plate armor. While looking at their faces, Ethan couldn't help but frown. They were so pale that it looked like their blood had frozen, and Ethan was pretty sure that wasn't a normal characteristic of a magic race.

Regardless, he didn't waste many seconds thinking about that because he found a group of soldiers protecting a certain door while being surrounded by dozens of golems. Although they seemed pretty alive, the guards couldn't do anything since they were being bombarded by magic projectiles cast by the specters.

"I ignored them for far too long," Ethan said and then held his sword firmly. "Still, can they get wounded by physical attacks?"

The specters were like purple ghosts. The only difference between them was that they had a round shape. They were like a sphere since they didn't have limbs. Ethan threw his short sword that was about to about to break into one of them, and as expected, the sword passed through without causing damage. However, at the very least, he managed to draw their attention.

"This seems a bit too early for that, but I think I will be able to pull this off," Ethan muttered while touching the blade of his weapon with his left hand. "Rather, this is the only thing I can do in this situation."

Water Balls might damage the specters, but it wouldn't be enough to kill them. Besides, Ethan didn't have that much mana to use one spell per monster. The very moment the specters prepared to attack, Ethan tried to concentrate some mana on his left hand. When he felt that his preparations had been complete, he rubbed his hand on the sword. At that exact moment, a light-blue glow appeared on his weapon.
