Chapter 9 09 - Bronze 2 Stars

Leo didn't know what the guards were talking about, but if he knew he wouldn't care either. Currently his mind was very focused on the screen on his cell phone, which showed what his current bank balance was.

[Leonardo Lentz. Bank Balance: $12,650]

'Twelve thousand dollars…'

Leo was very excited as he looked at the number of digits in his bank account. He already had $100 left over from the previous day's purchases, plus $1,050 from the 7 vultures he killed and $11,500 from the 23 rats he killed. Leo had already made more money in one day than many Awakened Bronze 2 Stars made in a week! Because he worked alone and could kill monsters with high speed by never missing a shot, Leo's efficiency was higher than many groups of Bronze 1 Star or 2 Star Awakened.

With that much money, Leo was motivated to buy a Bronze 3 Stars bow at the very least, as he knew a Bronze 2 Stars Bow wouldn't last long, but when he saw that a Bronze 3 Stars bow cost $20,000 he had to control himself a bit.

'I thought I was rich, but the life of an Awakened has as many expenses as profits…' Leo thought a little less excitedly than before.

But what he didn't think about was that normally an Awakened would stay with the weapon he bought for at least 1 or 2 years before buying a better weapon. No one could make money as fast as he was making with the strength of an average Bronze 1 Star. If a Bronze 3 Star Awakened knew that this young Bronze 1 Star was finding a Bronze 3 Star bow expensive for having to hunt 2 days to get this money, it would have been likely they would come to beat Leo out of anger.

After returning home, Leo finally took a nice shower and ordered a hearty meal to replace the calories he'd lost while hunting the monsters that day. As much as humanity had invented more and more delicious dishes over the years, Leo was still one of the few humans who felt that there was nothing better than French fries.

After eating a big meal of French Fries with cheese and bacon, Leo finally sat down on his living room floor and opened the system screen. He had 551 experience points left. That was enough for him to level up Aim-Bot once more, but since he decided to keep Wall-Hack and Aim-Bot at the same range for now, Leo finally used his experience points to move up from a Bronze 1 Star to a Bronze 2 Star.

[Do you wish to level up from 'Bronze 1 Star' to 'Bronze 2 Star'? Once the evolution is confirmed, all Exp you get from Bronze 1 Star monsters will drop by 50%, from Bronze 2 Star monsters will drop by 20% and from Bronze 3 Star monsters will drop by 5%. Do you still wish to move up to 'Bronze 2 Stars'?]

Leo was shocked when he saw this message. He didn't know that the amount of Exp he would get from monsters would drop if he leveled up. But coming to think of it, it wouldn't make sense for Silver 1 Star Awakened to gain the same amount of Exp against Bronze 1 Star monsters as newbies who just finished awakening. This would make it much easier for Awakened to level up by killing monsters weaker than themselves, and Leo knew that the easiest way for Awakened to evolve was by killing monsters more powerful than themselves.

'As much as I get less experience points for killing Bronze 1 Star Monsters and Bronze 2 Stars Monsters, I don't need to worry about that. With my new strength I will be able to hunt Bronze 2 Star monsters even faster than the other day. With a Bronze 2 Star strength I will probably be able to hunt at least twice faster Bronze 2 Star monsters, which will make this Exp decrease not as significant as it seems.' Leo quickly understood that even with the amount of Exp going down this was still much more advantageous than him staying at Bronze Rank 1 Star.

But of course, now that he knew this, Leo intended not to level up his Rank as fast as he previously had planned, since if he leveled up his skills first it would also have an effect of killing monsters even faster and without the disadvantage of earning less expience.

"Yes," Leo confirmed that he wanted to increase his Rank. As soon as Leo confirmed his choice, he began to feel a force inside him begin to stir. It was as if he had a hot liquid flowing through his veins, burning everything it went through, but instead of the burned places receiving a searing pain, Leo started to feel a muscle ache as if he'd worked out in a gym workout much harder than he was used to. His muscles were hurting, but they were hurting because they were getting stronger. This was a pain Leo was very used to while working out a few years ago, but this was the first time he'd felt it this intensely. The worst part was that the hot liquid was coursing through his entire body, causing even some muscles he had never used to start to ache.

"Arrrrghhhh…" Leo started to groan in pain as he writhed on the floor, but because it was a muscle ache, each time he squirmed the pain only increased because he was moving the sore muscles.

Eventually, Leo finally laid down in a position where he could stay still and just stared at the ceiling as he felt the hot liquid slowly disappear from his body after doing a few laps through his blood vessels.

'I should have done that lying in bed…' Leo thought, frustrated as he looked at the ceiling of his room. The only upside was that the floor of the apartment was freezing cold, which helped a little to ease the aches in the back of his body, but still he knew it would be impossible to move for the rest of the day.

'At least I ate before doing this…' He thought of one good thing at least.

After thinking this, Leo's body was so tired that he just slept in that position. This happened at 1 o'clock in the afternoon, and Leo had just woken up the other day at 5 o'clock in the morning. Despite the constant pain when he moved in his sleep, the tiredness was so great that even this was not able to wake Leo up.

When he woke up, Leo felt that the muscle aches had all but disappeared. Not even his spine was hurting from sleeping on the floor, which was a big surprise for him.

When he made a little effort on the ground to get up, the momentum caused by his arm was so strong that he was practically thrown into the air. A shocked expression was on Leo's face now. He knew he'd used minimal force, but the result was as if he'd used at least twice as much as his previous force.

Very carefully, Leo began to walk slowly around the house, afraid to use too much force on anything and accidentally break something and finally left the apartment.

'At least I didn't break anything,' Leo thought as he smiled and entered the elevator.

p??d? n?ve? Upon reaching the ground floor, Leo went to the gym he was used to working out in and decided to test his strength before heading to school. He knew he could lift a weight of 130 kg (280 Pounds) on the bench press before becoming an Awakened. As an Awakened Bronze 1 Star he didn't get a strength buff and only got one ability, so he hadn't bothered to measure his strength after awakening. But when he lifted the 130kg weight and felt it wasn't heavy, Leo started to feel the difference. At 140 kg it was still light, 160 kg started to get heavy, only at 180 kg (400 Pounds) Leo felt he had reached the limit of his strength.

'My strength increased by 50 kg…' (110 Pounds) Leo was shocked as he looked at the result.

He even went to weigh himself on the scales, but when he saw that his weight was still 90 kg, Leo was still shocked. He was lifting 2x his own weight after becoming an Awakened Bronze 2 Star! fr(e)ewebnovel

Leo tested his own stamina and saw that he could last much longer running at constant speed than before, and his top speed was also greatly improved.

'Professor Edward will surely be shocked when he sees that I became an Awakened Bronze 2 Star when I get to school,' Leo thought with a smile.

He had no problem being known for being a genius. He didn't even have thoughts of trying to hide his own strength to keep a low profile, as he knew that the greater someone's talent, the more resources that person would receive in the future, so it would be better to create a path like a genius at the very beginning so that no one would be surprised at how fast his strength grew and think that there was something wrong.

With a slightly tired body, Leo returned home and took a shower to wipe off his sweat, had breakfast, and finally went to school. This would be his first time in the school's Elite class, and he was excited for the knowledge he would receive, as it would further accelerate his growth in the future.
