Chapter 3443 Everlight Returns
Davis returned to his home with Everlight on his shoulder.
She reappeared after seemingly being satisfied after staying for a while in his soul sea. It was as though she just made sure that her place was still there for her to return.
Above the city, Davis caressed Everlight's little fox head as he let her view her new home. She was surprised to see the new city as she hadn't heard about it.
"Everlight, do you want to marry me here or in the Starlight Jade Wolf Clan?"
Although Everlight was a fox now, she had more ties with being a wolf and the wolf clans since she lived most of her life as a Light Sky Wolf. Without her, he probably wouldn't have met his sworn brother as he would've stayed clear of them for not wanting to go seek trouble.
"Fhi~" Everlight hummed softly, her voice surreal, "My place is by your side, so I will marry master here."
"Didn't I tell you to call me by my name?"
Davis raised his brows. He didn't have a problem with him being called master, but he liked to hear his name called intimately as that would close the gap between them by a large margin. Unlike Nadia, who had spent so much time with him, Everlight was away for a long time after all.
"Master is more apt, allowing me to feel that I belong with you." Everlight maintained her position.
"Aren't you quite bold and straightforward?"
"I've always been that way, but a certain someone changed me, made me fall in many ways, but also made me far stronger. I was shy, but now, I'm more comfortable with my body and my decision to be with you. I love you, master~"
Everlight kept shaking her small head in delight while her fluffy nine-tails danced behind, occasionally caressing his neck and face.
Davis could only shake his head.
As long as he maintained the beast-taming pact, they would not be much different than master and pet, even though the Transitory Beast-Taming Pact was an equal pact and more like a husband and wife pact ever since he found out that it was used to nurture a female magical beast and even allow their fertility to increase.
Nonetheless, it is likely Everlight acknowledged that her prowess was bestowed entirely by him and, hence, treated him with immense respect.
He loved being intimate, but he loved to be respected as well, although he didn't think he deserved it with how many wives he had around.
Even he occasionally felt he had to put a stop to it but just couldn't seem to put his foot down because there was simply no need to as his woman wasn't forcefully stopping him. Twenty or thirty lovers, it was all the same, although they probably wouldn't allow him to reach three digits or half of that, no matter what.
But apparently, there was a new force coming for him through the establishment of family laws, so he was eager to know what they were going to come up with him.

Davis grinned as he looked forward to the challenge, but he knew not to go too far as this concerned their mental well-being. He intended to listen to them and give his bodily rights to them, but he also needed to make sure that he didn't coldly refuse the ones he came to make love with.
He would never bother to sleep or be intimate with anyone whom he didn't love as he considered dual cultivation to be sacred, but accidents do happen, like with the time with Panqa, Lanqua, Shea, and Yilla, so he needed to have some form of redressal to state that he would like to accept new women in his life without having to agonize his harem.
He was aware he was being selfish, but to put it roughly, he was balls deep to be able to extricate himself.
He brought Everlight to his chest and held her dear.
"Everlight, I know I can trust you. You have proved yourself a long time ago and proved it again by coming back to me, so let me know when you want to go back to Saintess Lunaria after our marriage."
Everlight blinked as she heard his soul transmission, "Master… I…"
"Saintess Lunaria also needs you. More precisely, your life energy stemming from your innate runes is practically what she needs right now. Didn't you hear her make many jokes about it? She is either embarrassed or socially awkward from long years of seclusion and needs to make jokes about it to get her intent conveyed, but it is clear that she wants you badly but won't go too far since she has her own pride to consider."

Everlight went silent.
She was honestly going to ask for an opportunity to meet Saintess Lunaria herself, but first things were first. She didn't plan to say anything until she was married, but he understood her intentions even before she could say anything, causing her to be both speechless and moved.
"Thank you~"
She hummed lightly before nudging softly over his chest in his embrace.
Davis smiled and brought her down as he descended.
"Everlight!"
Entering the mansion, he was quickly swarmed by some of his women and children as they saw Everlight.
It was still a bit dangerous for his children to stay here as even though the city's defenses were strong, it lacked eyes, reinforcements, and the retaliatory weight compared to the Aurora Cloud Gate, but it looks like they decided to stay after seeing how vibrant the world was after exiting the sect.
He didn't have the heart to send them back as he didn't want to pamper them overly.
As their father, he wished they had a worry-free and carefree life, but as an Anarchic Divergent, he was itching to shape them up into going into survival mode at the slightest hint of danger and, hence, accepted their plea to stay here.
Living here might shape them up a bit. It was a ghost city anyway, so there was not much danger to worry about right now. The population was less than a thousand, with most of them only entering to see what was going on or were previously those who had land and decided to stay despite the calamity, so anyone entering would be quickly identified and notified to the Reaper Soul Legion.
Everlight was elegant and noble like Nadia, but she was more playful and sociable; hence, she entertained the children and the others adequately.
He spent a few hours talking with them, but Everlight then soon left with the others, stating that she had to recondition their soul essences in her azure essence orbs in order for her to revive them at their current state and not their previous state.
Even the ones in seclusion came out when they heard Everlight was going to update their checkpoint, as mentioned by Mingzhi.

Davis blinked.
Even he hadn't updated his checkpoint. This was probably the last time he could do it, but he intended to do it during their marriage night. It was a pleasurable experience after all, as Everlight basically bubbled the essence out of their soul but, most importantly, placed a lot of karmic burden on her for having their anarchic souls.
If she revived any one of them, then the karmic burden was only going to increase little by little or significantly until it reached the highest, which was his level of having twelve Paragon Magical Beasts and a Celestial Transcendent.
At that point, he was very clear Everlight wouldn't survive, much less anyone else, so he had to be careful.
He was willing to remove his soul essence from her azure essence orb if it could just mean that she would be free of most of the karmic burden, but with how headstrong Everlight was as she was the one who demanded that he keep his soul essence inside her or let her die as she would use her ultimate species technique to revive him, he didn't think she would agree to remove his soul essence.
Hence, he only had to think of not making it worse.
He made some excuse and got himself out of there.
