He knew the Malevolent Darkness Soul Physique only increased perception towards Darkness Laws and granted the ability to use Darkness Laws even if someone was training in Light Laws from the beginning. Other than that, it fueled negative thoughts in their souls that corrupted them.
However, his father, Evelynn, Sophie, and Mingzhi were all able to gain control over their Malevolent Darkness Soul Physiques and make them tamer, preventing it from affecting them much.
Davis feared that it might overcome them one day, so he still wanted to know its real nature.

Saintess Lunaria looked pleasantly surprised that he knew about such a thing when people were mostly wallowing in righteousness, believing they were all for justice.
"There is not a single person in the world who is anything but pure and untainted by darkness. The masses regard me as such, but I don't think that way at all, so even I am not completely free of being suddenly afflicted with the Malevolent Darkness Soul Physique."

He remembered his father's master.
"You mean High Elder Lavea Jenn?"
Saintess Lunaria couldn't help but smile, "Indeed, she is a Divergent who has successfully converted her darkness factor to create a mutated darkness-lightning physique, but I'm not talking about her. I'm talking about her master's husband, Guardian Elysian Veritas, who successfully created the Twilight Illuminator Soul Physique from his darkness factor that allowed him to use light and darkness at the same time and even combine them, further allowing him to fuse them and give birth to Twilight Laws."
