"Damn it!"

The Third Division's General roared at the ruthlessness of the assassin organizations.

To think that they would go far enough to attack together with hundreds of Immortal King assassins from different assassin organizations… it looks like they were absolutely intent on acquiring one of the Emperor of Death's weaknesses. His expression was furious, but tears couldn't help but flow from his eyes.

His brothers of long years had died just like that.

It wouldn't be a lie to say that if he could turn back time, he would've stayed with them.

Nonetheless, he instantly sent a transmission to the Vice General, telling them to speed up and not care about being low-key anymore. However, he didn't divulge the details and only conveyed that they were found out.

In the distance, the flying boat sped up as the fuel compartment containing thousands of Mid-Level Immortal Crystals started to burn up quickly. The flying boat that seemed to traverse ten kilometers every second shot further in speed, causing an immense boom to echo as it broke the First Haven World's sound barrier.

It reached speeds that were beyond what Mid-Stage Immortals Kings were capable of.

Inside the flying boat, Logan frowned as he saw the solemness spread through the atmosphere.

When he looked at the Vice General reacting to the messaging talisman by increasing the speed of the flying boat using its core, he knew something was up.

"What is it?"

"…"

The Vice General's expression was not good. He wore a bead necklace around his neck. Taking it out and casting a good look at it, he saw that more than seventy percent of the beads were dull. This meant that those who remained were all killed, causing him to feel remorseful.

Logan knew better not to ask anymore. However, he received a reply.

"We were probably attacked by Immortal King assassins. Perhaps they've seen us take you inside the palace and launched a full attack to kill you regardless of your identity because your son has left for a secret realm. Otherwise, they wouldn't have dared, and I also would've gotten the news."

The Vice General clenched his teeth, appearing ashamed.

"Immortal Kings…"

Logan believed that it was the next stage, uttering lightly with wonder. How come people that powerful were hunting him down?

'No- they're not hunting me. They're hunting my son!'

Logan's gaze flashed, thinking that he didn't need this life then. He had confirmed that his son was already safe through their speech, but if not, this kind of chase would not happen. Otherwise, there would be no need for assassins or anyone else to chase him.

"What are our chances of survival?"

He asked, causing the Third Division's Vice General to sigh lightly, "I figure there's not much. I've already broken an emergency crystal, requesting reinforcements from my Obsidian Crystal Turtle Clan. Perhaps we'll have some chance against those ruthless assassins."

"Tell me more about it."

Logan narrowed his eyes, causing the Vice General to want to ask what a mere Immortal could do, but considering his status, he started explaining.

Outside the flying boat, the General followed closely.

His figure soared through the skies as he sat on an obsidian tortoise shell that carried him across the mountains and rivers while his billowing cape fluttered behind him like a shadowy cloak. In his hand swelled out a curved obsidian blade that resonated with spatial energy, which he used to suddenly cut the space behind him as the shell turned around.

*Rippp!~*

A spatial tear burst forth, creating ripples in the air around the tear as it suddenly revealed the silhouettes of hundreds of assassins in the air. As soon as the shockwave of the spatial tear hit them, they spread apart, trying to conceal themselves once again in the moonlit night.

'Fast… they're burning their blood essence, using escape arts to catch up!'

The General imagined that they were most likely top rankers of the three other assassin organizations since he already knew that the Emperor of Death wouldn't be attacked by the Ghost Tear Hall unless someone in there had a personal vendetta against him.

His eyes glinted with determination as he faced the daunting horde of killers. He channeled his spatial powers, creating ripples in the air around him, distorting the fabric of reality. With a swift motion, he sent a wave of spatial energy surging forward with his saber, cutting through the space between him and the first line of assassins.

But as expected, the assassins were not ordinary foes.

They anticipated the second attack, some even moving before he acted, as they used oracular arts to predict his movements.

As soon as they dodged, hundreds of attacks from different directions fell on the General.

Fire, water, wind, lightning, sound and even space. Attacks made from different Laws soared in the skies as they tried to sink him. But at that moment, the obsidian tortoise shell he was standing on abruptly glowed, causing a shield to be formed around him.

*Booom!~*

The attacks fell, causing a huge explosion to echo but also sent him flying to the side.

"An Early Immortal Emperor Grade Defensive Artifact…?"

"Not bad."

Random voices echoed in the skies, but the General regained his balance and lunged forth toward the assassins who wanted to rush past him. The saber in his hand reverberated with spatial undulations, and a metallic taste filled his mouth.

He sacrificed twenty percent of his blood essence to pour spatial undulations into the saber, slashing forth an entire region.

Silence spread across the region as though a black screen appeared in a straight line, cutting through mountains and rivers as it made a spatial tear as long as a mountain range and as deep as an ice cap!

It stopped the assassins in their tracks, causing them to turn to look at him.

"Here I come!"

The General's eyes were bloodshot, appearing to have overdrafted his blood essence as he burned it once more.

Without wasting a single moment, he lunged forward once more, the obsidian blade cutting through space like a comet, slicing through several assassins at once. His spatial attacks were powerful and wide-reaching, but the assassins adapted quickly. They split into smaller groups, weaving and dodging through the spatial strikes with uncanny coordination.

The skies became a battleground of speed, agility, and obscure arts. The General danced through the air, his movements fluid and calculated while the shield guarded against him from any ambush that may have appeared around him. Moreover, he used his spatial powers to distort the trajectories of the assassins' ranged attacks, causing them to veer off course and collide harmlessly with each other.

But as he continued to defend and dodge while reaping lives with his saber, one of the things that allowed him to coordinate his defense and attack crumbled.

The obsidian tortoise shell cracked and shattered.

The assassins were sharp and devoid of fear despite the threat of cornering a rabbit. They didn't miss that moment, their dark figures flashing through the skies, pouncing over to the General before they rushed past him as though he didn't exist at all.

"Aa… aaa…."

The General tried to speak out something, but his throat was stabbed with a dagger. However, if it was only one dagger, then he could at least move, but there were around fifty types of daggers pierced through his body, some or many coated with high-quality poison.

Within a few seconds, his entire skin turned purple and green, and he fell from the skies and smashed into the ground, never to stand up again as his entire body melted into a poisonous blood paste.

*Booom!~*

Sometime later, the deafening sound of a crash echoed, reverberating throughout the mountain range as it caused many flying magical beasts to fly away like startled birds.

The assassins appeared in the air, witnessing the flying boat carrying their target momentously take many of their attacks and ram into a mountain. Wood splintered, sails ripped, and enchantments sparked, but the vessel's momentum was too great to halt immediately. The boat scraped against the rocky surface, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.

Smoke and dust filled the air.

Nevertheless, as the assassins saw the aftermath, they knew such an impact would shake the insides of the boat like anything, causing its passengers to end up dead. But since they hadn't confirmed if their target was dead or alive, they continued to wait, watching the boat's magical propulsion system sputtered and hissed, releasing sporadic bursts of dangerous sparks.

"The fuel compartment is overburning…"

An assassin from the Soulsteal Pearl Temple uttered, causing a few others to nod in agreement.

"Well, they were traveling at full speed, overloading the propulsion formation as they burned a lot of energy, so the crash itself would've killed them all. It's going to explode, but just in case, go check…"

The high-ranking assassins commanded the lower-ranking ones, causing them to go near and investigate using their soul senses.

As they delved inside, they saw some parts of the walls appear crimson as something red was thrown at them. They were none other than the exploded bodies of the people who were inside, appearing to be nothing but meat paste now.
