The Starlight Jade Wolf King's heaving body flinched before he retreated, the place he had been standing exploding into a mushroom of scarlet flames. The intense phoenix flames scorched the ground and completely evaporated the spirit water flowing through the waterways.

The Starlight Jade Wolf King clicked his tongue as he watched the soul of the Fire Phoenix Clan's Ancestor make some distance between them as he retreated like him. The Ethereal Soulcleaver, famed for its ability to obliterate souls, didn't work on him. Or rather-

The Starlight Jade Wolf King growled. He knew he should've launched another attack, but the backlash from sacrificing the blood essence made him stiff for a second, allowing his opponent to retreat. The First Ancestor and Second Ancestor were rapidly chasing the other Ancestor, who was quick on his legs and retreated along with the escaping soul. That one second was enough for the Starlight Jade Wolf King to be never able to reach his opponents, so he instantly sent his Ancestors the order to regroup.
Within a few seconds, the First and Second Ancestors arrived back.
However, the scarlet wall of flames was still present, blazing and powerful as it seared the space.
The Starlight Jade Wolf King slashed the wide wall of flames with the Ethereal Soulcleaver, causing it to finally disappear, but when he looked into the distance, he saw that there was no sign of the two Ancestors of the Fire Phoenix Clan.
"Curses. We got company..."
He didn't even get a moment of rest before the First Ancestor and the others sensed a Vacuous Beast spawning right in their Prefecture. Davis could only smilingly shake his head. He was quite joyous that his sworn brother's attitude towards him didn't change that much. Even if some hard feelings remained, they both knew that dwelling over them wouldn't be good for them as they never meant harm to each other.
He walked over to his sworn brother and raised his head, life energy surging from his palms as it fell over him.

The others turned shocked as they saw the Emperor of Death use life energy, finally understanding that the elders were not kidding when they said he truly possessed both life and death energy. Their eyes flashed with curiosity.
But this time, the Starlight Jade Wolf King gawked.
