Chapter 77: Unanswered Calls

"Tell me, Marvin… Can you manage the Reprinter Unit and rebuilding the base?" Zhang Qin Feng asked after allowing Valerian to return to the safehouse to plan for what she'll need.

Feeling somewhat jealous of Valerian to get a job, Miriam and Miria followed her steps back to the safehouse to continue what they were doing. Since there is no limit to how many small explosives Zhang Qin Feng is asking for, they should keep coming out with more instead of feeling it enough.

"I can do it, boss. Leave it to me." Marvin nodded to Zhang Qin Feng as he was given the approval to set the order on the Reprinter Unit. Having this equipment by his side makes his work much easier too.

"Then, I'll let you do what you're good with." Zhang Qin Feng said and patted Marvin's back. The latter left as soon as Zhang Qin Feng seems to have nothing left to say.

"Alright, it's your turn right now. What kind of engineering you're good with?" Zhang Qin Feng asked. He made a casual walk along the base with Satella in front of them. No matter how safe their base is, a zombie or two sometimes still lurks around the corner, making a casual walk around seems to be dangerous.

"Electronics, boss. But I can help with repairing small items too.

[Please inquire if he's capable of creating a small rig for data mining. This would lighten the system's burden as the user delegates smaller tasks like this to talented individuals like Victor]

Zhang Qin Feng smiled when Stein interrupted him in the middle of listening to what Victor had to say.

"Victor, I have a blueprint with me. I will need you to create, research, and make a much better version of this machine if possible. Can you do it?" Zhang Qin Feng asked.

"I can't promise I can do it immediately, but if the boss is willing to invest some time in me, I'll make sure that they can be improved. But before this, I'll need to have a crafting station and access to electrical power to work efficiently. Will… This be a problem?" Victor asked.

Since working with electronics equals using electricity, Zhang Qin Feng's approval is a must because electricity was the most expensive resource right now in the post-apocalypse. It was actually applied to both Valerian, Miriam, and Miria's profession as well.

Even the kitchen where they prepare the hot water to cook the Instant Noodles needs electricity to operate.

Perhaps, that's the reason behind Zhang Qin Feng's first request to Valerian. To create a battery through all the knowledge she has. But it also has to be less conventional compared to the power generator that existed from where he came from.

Part of the reason why Zhang Qin Feng did not bring a generator from where he came is due to the clash of technology between two different worlds. Although a typical fuel-powered generator could produce some electricity for the others to use, they're bulky and noisy.

The vibration created from the motor alone might attract the zombies if it was used without planning.

"That won't be a problem. You can use some of the power from the generator, but try to be thrifty with it. At least, until Valerian came up with an idea for a battery to be produced." Zhang Qin Feng smiled as he replied to Victor's requirement.

"By the way, are you alright with repairing some of the weaponry we looted from the scavengers? Please bring them back to their optimal condition where they can be used efficiently without too much effort." Zhang Qin Feng added before he allowed Victor to leave.

"I will. Please expect something good from me!" Victor bowed at Zhang Qin Feng before leaving.

It was finally the time for Zhang Qin Feng and Satella to be all alone.

"Since everyone had their own job to do, what about me?" Satella asked. As a soldier-type clone, all she knew is scavenging, hunting, and searching for survival gears. Except for the fact she's able to shoot everyone to death in a blink of an eye, she had no expertise like the others.

"Help me to support the others. Only with them able to contribute to the base can our lives get much more comfortable. I want to enjoy my life, what do you think?" Zhang Qin Feng leaned his back on a crumbling wall and pulled Satella to his side.

"Enjoy life? What is that?" Satella asked. The concept of enjoying his life was out of nowhere as there was nothing much for them to enjoy here. Unless for the delicious food they had daily, perhaps not a single one of them have an idea about the word 'enjoying.'

"Of course, there's something. To be a boss of a base like this, to have people working for you, to sleep until whatever time I like before waking up, and to live without worrying about the zombies outside our house. That's what enjoying life is." Zhang Qin Feng replied.

"Do you mean… to live longer than the others?" Satella asked.

"Correct. To live longer, to have more than other people have, to do what I like without bothering what others think of me. Of course, to make sure I can sleep with you anytime I want, without worrying there's a zombie or scavengers outside waiting for us."

Zhang Qin Feng grabbed Satella's breast as he finished with what he had to say.

"Ah! You're a bad boss!" Satella yelped after getting her breast grabbed by Zhang Qin Feng by surprise.

"I'm sure you'll be bored of me after a few more times… But that's fine. I'm sure Miriam, Miria, and Valerian will be a good option for you later." she said.

"We'll talk about them later. For now, all my attention is on you alone. I will have to leave later, so let have a quick session before I had to go." Zhang Qin Feng said. Forcefully ripping her shirt open, Zhang Qin Feng proceeds to enjoy an outdoor session before leaving.

But as he returned to the modern world, he found out that his phone had almost fifty missed calls from multiple numbers.
