Chapter 349: (EDT) Second Part - Departing Again
"Explain what you just said in detail." Zhang Qin Feng said. His expression immediately looks troubled after listening to Marvin's words. From their tone, it was not something that could be easily solved with firearms alone.
"Huh…" Marvin sighed after he finished the can of sugary drinks. Looking seriously towards Zhang Qin Feng, he started to describe what does the word means.
From Marvin's explanation, it seems that there are multiple nameless places where clones were produced in large quantities to sustain the requirement of manpower. And since the pre-apocalypse period had no specific regard in terms of clone rights, these bodies were made in large numbers to fill all the available positions.
As long there's a need for operators, the request can be made to the Cloning Facility. There's even an option to create a batch of custom clones if there's a need for those.
A facility like this is usually capable of producing between 5,000 to 10,000 clones in a single day. Furthermore, since all the clones were born with the Blood Petrification Disease to prevent them from revolting, the clone's order kept on coming in.
Furthermore, a facility like this doubled as a holding cell for criminals they labeled as heretics. To the Cloning Facility, people like them were the best seedling to produce the clones because of their rich experience, prone to mutation genes, and aggressive nature.
Because the Cloning Facility was regulated and protected for the interest of this world, even the nation itself took the facility seriously. In terms of supplies, a single facility like this could produce the same amount of clones daily without worrying about the exhaustion of resources.
Unless there's a significant failure in the system, it could keep pumping out clones for the next fifty to a hundred years to come.
But this was not what they had to worry about the most.
Although the sheer number was a problem, they're mild compared to the seedling used to create the clone. Since it was a holding cell to those so-called heretics, this means the possibility of the Seed Crystal Virus there going through a mutation buffet is highly possible.
And there's nothing more dangerous than this.
Zhang Qin Feng's heart almost fell to the ground when he listened to what Marvin had to say. If this was indeed the case here, won't the team in the safe zone be in danger right now?
"Marvin. In your opinion, how likely our worries would happen?" Zhang Qin Feng continued to ask.
"Over 50% chances. If we're going to save the people there, we have to do it now. It's been five days since you left the safe zone, and we used half-day to talk. Even if we were making our way to the rescue now, it would be the eleventh day we arrived there."
"We can only hope they could hold on until we're there to help." Marvin shook his head, and this was considered the most positive estimation in his mind.
"That's better than not doing anything. Get some men to start refueling the ship and prepare the supplies. Let's waste no more time and get our people out from there before the worst come to them." Zhang Qin Feng ordered.
"Yes, Boss. I'll get them prepared right now." Marvin immediately left to handle all the arrangements for the first Assailant-Class Patrol Ship to depart shortly.
"Boss, we have a few warfare specialists inside the shelter. If they're coming along, I'm sure they could be a great help in your rescue mission. Should I get them to help?" Hoya-2231 extended his support to Zhang Qin Feng.
"That would be great. Please get the people ready to depart on the shortest notice. As for the rewards, tell them that I can agree to most things, as long it's within my ability. They can take their time to let me know later." Zhang Qin Feng replied.
"Immediately, Boss." Hoya-2231 nodded and made his way towards the shelter.
The Vermilion Empress immediately got into full alert mode as everyone was working at their top speed. This time, there were about thirty people, including the crew operating the ship.
Their preparation was completed as the Assailant-Class Patrol Ship was released onto the water and sailed north at their maximum speed. This preparation was all done in less than half an hour.
Carrying all Zhang Qin Feng's worry and hope with them, their order is strictly to stay alive until the second Assailant-Class makes its way to them in the next few days.
"Boss, may I have your attention?" Hoya-2231 said after the Assailant-Class was gone from their view.
"Yes. Anything else you need?" Zhang Qin Feng turned around and looked at this shelter's representative. His initiative and ability to keep his composure made Zhang Qin Feng want his service even more.
"Since the matter with the small continent up north is temporarily settled, please follow me to the Research Facility. The researchers there seem to have a positive breakthrough in the first phase of their research." Hoya-2231 explained what he had to do while extending the invitation to drive Zhang Qin Feng over to the island.
It seems that the inconvenience of moving between the island and the Vermilion Empress was still a problem right now. The two places can only be accessed through a fast boat from now, and each night when the water tide rises, the shelter door has to be shut to prevent the water from coming in.
After making a short fifteen minutes trip, Zhang Qin Feng finally arrived at the Research Facility. This was also his first time to come inside the No: 213 Programmable Shelter.
"Boss!" Valerian greets Zhang Qin Feng like how a proper subordinate would have done.
"En. I heard from Hoya that there's a breakthrough in the research. What are you guys going to show me?" Zhang Qin Feng smiled and anticipated the surprises they had.
"You got that correct, Boss. But I'll let Lucian make the presentation as all of this was thanks to his hard work and professionalism. He can be said to be the one that contributes the most to this breakthrough." Valerian said while taking a step back.
Everyone's attention was on Lucian as he gently coughed and prepared to do his presentation.
