Chapter 260: Back To Turbine Town (2)

"Boss, this is the data report you're asking for," Marvin soon came with a memory stick with all the things he asked for. After receiving that data, Zhang Qin Feng returned to his room and continued studying the data.

Although he looked like studying the data, all Zhang Qin Feng did is to delegate the task according to his understanding.

The system was omnipotent in a certain way. However, it still needs his instruction and decision when it comes to priorities. It might sound like the system is monotonous regarding these matters, but it has to be done.

This way, Zhang Qin Feng could put the system to good use instead of searching for an optimal solution that limits the overall creativity. This was the system's most significant weaknesses before this, hindering Zhang Qin Feng's growth.

"Feng, it's dinnertime." Satella came into the room with a tray of food. Although this wasn't her first time seeing Zhang Qin Feng in his serious mode, she finds him looking more attractive each time he's behaving like this.

Knowing that she shouldn't disturb him, Satella left the food at the far corner of the table before returning to Armed Force's building.

The next day morning, they repeat the same thing all over again. The only difference this time is instead of taking the Reprinter Unit out from the truck, they used a significantly spacious truck with removable roofing to let the machinery operates.

There are some restrictions on what these people were doing. But through the battery pack designed for vehicle use, Marvin successfully increases their working schedule two hours longer than yesterday.

Satella also noticed that the number of zombies on the bridge is about the same as yesterday. This was something she has to be concerned with.

The squad decided to stay here for another hour before going back to check for any changes in their surroundings, especially the forest beneath this motorway inaccessible to them.

Her initial monitoring yields no result, but her sixth sense tells her that something is happening here.

Satella's intuition is pretty accurate, although it was a little out of her way. She couldn't see what is happening precisely due to the distance between her and the problem.

Inside the Turbine Town's Repopulation Shelter.

A clone was seated on a chair, shaking its leg while monitoring the situation outside. This clone was also the reason behind the reduction of new survivors released from the shelter.

It had a resembling appearance with Satella but with a short, boyish haircut. Their height, skin tone, and clothing also matched, but this clone was less feminine than Satella. If there had to be a reason for this description, it was mainly from the lack in the chest department.

Yes.

This clone that resembles Satella had a flat chest. It was as flat as the surface of an ironing board widely available in Zhang Qin Feng's modern world.

But this wasn't the main issue.

Outside of this Repopulation Shelter, there are plenty of the exact flat-chested Satella clones. But different from the original Satella and this flat-chested Satella, these copies don't seem to have a mind of their own.

These copies were zombies. Although, to be exact, they weren't regular zombies.

The cells in their body differ from the usual zombies. Within them was a mutated version of Seed Crystal Virus, which had gone through a series of real-life-and-death simulations from one zombie to another.

This realistic simulation was like a tournament to search for the mutated Seed Crystal Virus with the highest potential. The side effect of the infection started with the change of appearance, whether male or female clones; getting infected by this mutated virus will turn their appearance to Satella-like.

But it also runs a strict evaluation process. Out of hundreds of the infected, only a handful successfully Satella-Lize. As for those failures, their fate was to be eaten to strengthen the virus concentration further.

And to make it worst, the Turbine Town turned into a complete red zone no survivors dare to enter after Wind Base relocated. Without control, this place was now categorized as the same level as Strand Metropolis.

"I've found the best way to enhance the prototype's performance at last." Zhang Qin Feng stretched his arms, neck and cracked his bones to destress. He was happy that He found the solution on the third day after Satella brought up the matter with the Reprinter Unit and the exoskeleton prototype.

He made his way to the Heavy-Engineering Department even before dawn to ensure that the modification can be added to the prototypes before Satella and the others are ready to leave.

It was quite a busy morning for Zhang Qin Feng. Still, he's confident that their experience with the exoskeleton prototype would be better after this modification.

Zhang Qin Feng has no idea that his decision today was what got Satella and Marvin coming back alive later.

The squad left as they had done each morning.

"Alright, continue with what we were doing for the past few days. I'm sure all of you noticed that the exoskeleton on you feels more fluid than before. But don't get reckless." said Satella as she briefed them in the first truck.

Marvin was with another soldier at the second truck. Because there's nothing much for them to do except operating the Reprinter Unit, they only need to listen to the briefing through the Luna Device.

After getting out of the truck, the team spread out and get into their position as quickly as possible. Those responsible for getting rid of the zombies started their day with a gunshot. In contrast, those responsible for moving the debris begun their day with the more manageable pieces.

It was until two soldiers noticed that Satella, dressed differently from what she's wearing today, appeared close to the pack of zombies.

"Hey! What is Vice-Boss doing over there?" one of them asked.

"Who knows? Let's get there and give her a hand. Did her exoskeleton go wrong? I don't see a reason for her to take off the suit if nothing is wrong with her exoskeleton." the other soldier said.

But that was the start of their nightmare.

"Uuk! Vice-Boss!" their scream can be heard from the Luna Device as their vital sign went out.
