A blood-curdling scream echoed through the elevator's shaft softly as the connection with the soldier is cut off.
What comes next was the ridiculous amount of strength that came from below. At first, the cable tightened like it was pulled by some force. But soon, the power used got heavier out of a sudden. Even with the brakes engaged on all four tires, the truck is still rolling closer to the elevator's shaft.
Those waiting for an answer on the surface knew that there's no time for delay. A cruel decision must be made. The soldiers immediately cut the cable off using a military-grade cutter.
The truck's front then came back on the ground when the pulling force was gone. But then, it was accompanied by the howls from the dangerous beings below them.
It was a typical sound from a monster they knew very well.
A Tyrant.
There must be more than two of them down there, judging from the sound and how long it continued. But it was still too early for them to decide if they're lucky or unlucky right now.
They can be considered lucky that the Tyrants were gathered 500 meters below the surface. But it was also unlucky that it has to be a pack of the most dangerous beings infected with the Seed Crystal Virus out of so many things.
"What are we going to do now, boss?" the soldiers were waiting for Zhang Qin Feng's decision.
He should have his answer right now on why the zombies were concentrated on the far end of the building. But it still didn't explain how all the Tyrants got down there. The only possibility was to assume that they evolved down there after such a long time.
But this hypothesis wasn't accurate either.
Unsure of what kind of decision he can make, Zhang Qin Feng pointed at the soldiers to guard the tunnel until he knows what he had to do. Queenie decided to stay with the soldiers. As for Satella and Zhang Qin Feng, they'll have to rely on one another to come up with a solution.
The two left the open-air disposal area and returned to the car.
Using the advanced communication method through Stein's assistance, Zhang Qin Feng connects his Luna Device with the signal tower they assembled nearby. This allowed him to utilize the function for long-range communication, although there are many restrictions in between.
First of all, Alex and Shaun were recalled back from their task to secure the motorway. Right now, there's something else more important than running forth and back between the highway.
The next call was directed to Victor. He was ordered to get the vehicles ready, along with the required arrangement and supplies, including camping preparations. This would allow them to assemble a quick response team to assist Zhang Qin Feng over here.
As for Marvin and Valerian, both would help him manage the Wind Base until his return. With two top-ranking leaders of the base are stuck at this Electronic Recycling Hub, this was the best arrangement they could do.
Although everything was prepared in a rush, they're not a bit lacking in quality. By the time Alex and Shaun returned and got themselves ready for the refreshment, the preparation is already complete and ready for deployment at any time.
Since Satella was the only one capable of driving the car back to the base, she made her trip right after Zhang Qin Feng finished speaking with the people in charge.
By the time she arrived at the base, Shaun's team was ready to be deployed.
They picked up their pace to the Electronic Recycling Hub as the sky was slowly getting darker. If they're unable to reach that location before nightfall, it would be problematic, especially with the zombies getting more active at that time.
Furthermore, the more people they have at the facility, the better.
This was so far the best option with Zhang Qin Feng's presence here. Because he's no longer able to use the dimensional travel on a whim right now, it was up to them to make sure that they protect him at all costs.
"I suggest that we make a few smaller camps around this building. Let's park the vehicles together and create a safe zone for the boss to rest tonight." Shaun suggested. With three trucks over here and Satella's car, they can easily create a spot to protect Zhang Qin Feng while he rests comfortably.
"Hey… What are you taking me as?" Zhang Qin Feng tossed the magazine in his hand at Shaun. He finds it funny that everyone started to assumes that he was a non-combatant right now.
Perhaps they forget that before this, he was the one leading the convoy over to the old Wind Base and brought everyone over here?
"We're just worried about you, boss." Shaun chuckled. The moment he grinned, Queenie followed. Even Satella finds it funny and smiled along with them.
"You guys… I'll teach all of you a lesson when we're back to the base. What about not getting a night of sleep for a week sound?" Zhang Qin Feng grabbed one of the vacuum-sealed packages and started to fill his empty stomach.
Unlike the packaging for the Plant-Based Steak, these vacuum-sealed rations were divided into three compartments. The whole packaging can be thrown into the boiling hot water to be heated before they're ready to be opened.
They come in three different flavors, but the most popular one is undoubtedly the curry menu. Each of them seems to be addicted to the flavorful combination of spices and spiciness that goes well with rice, noodle, or anything else.
When it was getting late, Zhang Qin Feng took their suggestion to rest first. Satella would be accompanying him while leaving the night duty to Shaun and Queenie.
In the first few hours, the night security was going on smoothly without trouble. But as it gets closer to dawn, a few soldiers panicked and requested help. Their voice was stuttering, although no gunshot was heard from their camping site.
"What's wrong? Shaun opened his eyes from his power nap and decided to give it a check. But he got panicked as well. Knowing that this might be over what they could handle, Shaun pressed the emergency button on his Luna Device.
This button immediately caused all the nearby Luna devices to vibrate nonstop.
"Wake up! We're surrounded!" Shaun said.
