Chapter 213: Su Ruolin (2)
'She looked familiar. The daughter of the convenience store under uncle's studio?' Zhang Qin Feng tried to remember where did he see her before. His memory about her is pretty vague, but he remembered that he has seen her before inside this building.
'Ah! I remembered! She's the girl that tells me to use the stairs when leaving the building." Zhang Qin Feng finally remembered her. It was just a short and brief moment between them. The total words they exchanged when he came to interview is no more than twenty words, but until now, he can still feel the coldness from her words.
'Who would have thought that the rejected candidate is actually a millionaire now? I remembered that when I get out of this building, I promised that I will buy this company, correct?' Zhang Qin Feng chuckled.
With the light finally turned green, he starts the car again and drove into one of the empty parking spaces nearby. After making the payment for an hour, Zhang Qin Feng got down from the car and went to the nearest convenience store for some refreshment.
The convenience store is naturally a branch outlet under the Golden Stars Retail Co's management. Walking into the store and checking out their products, he ended up grabbing a pack of sandwiches and a can of ice coffee.
When he went over to the cashier to make his payment, Zhang Qin Feng saw the girl again by the cashier. She seems to be embarrassed by something while looking apologetic behind the cashier.
"How stupid are you? To think that the stock for our hottest item during lunch is run out because something is going wrong from your side. I won't be helping you with this." the store manager was scolding her ruthlessly from the miscommunication.
By right, this shouldn't be a part of Su Ruolin's responsibility.
To begin with, she was just a secretary to the marketing department head. Coming here in a rush was not a part of her job. Furthermore, the mistake was not from her, but from the store manager's own irresponsibility in handling the order.
But as usual, people are well known for their ability to put the blame on someone else.
The store manager was also one of the trash employees that had little to no respect over those with a lower position. Each word muttered from that mouth is made with daggers that hurt someone's pride.
He was supposed to get these kinds of stuff done at the back of the store, but only God knew why he was so fired up and decided to push the blame at Su Ruolin.
"Sir, it will be 15 dollars for everything you've bought." said the cashier.
"Here you go." Zhang Qin Feng paid and left after grabbing what he bought. Since meeting Su Ruolin was a mere coincidence, there's nothing much for him to think about.
Until…
Su Ruolin was rubbing her teary eyes after coming out from the convenience store. From the look of it, she was feeling mistreated by the store manager. Although Zhang Qin Feng knows not much about her work, he still knew that a minor form of respect should be given to everyone.
The way the store manager handling his problem was too much. This might work if he's in the post-apocalypse world, but not here.
"Sob - Sob…" Su Ruolin sat on one of the benches near the store and rubbed her eyes. Her eyes were already turning red by the time Zhang Qin Feng came to her side.
"Take this." Zhang Qin Feng gave her the iced coffee in his hand. Although it wasn't much, giving her a coffee to lighten the mood seems to be the only thing he can do for her. Plus, no matter how much he likes to deny the things between them, she used to be a neighbor living in the same building.
'This was just a gesture of goodwill to the friendly uncle and aunt that own the convenience store where I lived before this.' Zhang Qin Feng convinced himself.
"Tha - Thank you… Eh? It's you! What are you doing around here?" Su Ruolin accepted the coffee from the stranger. But when she noticed it was Zhang Qin Feng, her tone changed.
"You moved, correct? Did the girlfriend of yours brought you back to her home?" Su Ruolin said. It seems that she remembered Zhang Qin Feng because he visits her parent's convenience store too often.
"Yeah. We've bought a house and living together now. How are your parents doing? Are they still healthy?" Zhang Qin Feng asked out of his concern.
"They're doing well. But I'm not. You've come for an interview before at our office, correct? You're lucky they didn't hire you at that time. I'm sure you saw that I got scolded inside the store earlier." Su Ruolin wiped her tears off with a tissue and tried to look confident before Zhang Qin Feng.
"Maybe, things were as lucky as you say." Zhang Qin Feng chuckled. She wasn't wrong. If he were to work with the Golden Stars Retail Co., he might be the one that got scold by the store manager right now.
Furthermore, was it not because of their rejection, will he end up working at his uncle's place, encountered Stein, get together with Wang Yufei, and so on?
"So… What brings you here today? There's nothing much to do here except taking a look at the office buildings," she asked.
"I have a business appointment here before this. Now I'm just wasting my time taking a look around this place." Zhang Qin Feng replied.
"Look at you… Someone was doing quite well himself to have time to waste around. What about having lunch while you have nothing good to do around here?" she suggested. From the look of it, she's trying to get Zhang Qin Feng to treat her.
"Why not. Where to?" Zhang Qin Feng smiled. He had all the time he wanted anyway.
"Really? Then let's go to the restaurant at the corner! The grilled pork over there is delicious, you know?" Su Ruolin immediately brightens up after knowing that she'll be getting a treat.
