Chapter 188: Preparation (1)
"How many people do you have in the base?" Zhang Qin Feng asked. Right now, knowing how many people he had and the current situation of this base is crucial before he plans on what to do next.
"If nothing happened in between this time, we should have 25 people, including myself and Shaun," Tane answered. It seems that he kept track of the people's count while positioning himself on the rooftop. This might be seen as a lousy way to lead a team, but it was undoubtedly a safe and secured way to protect himself.
"Alright, then let's do a quick headcount. Get everyone here. I'll have something to say after everyone gathered. Alex, go and get the military truck into this facility. And check the perimeters with Queenie to ensure there nothing left out." Zhang Qin Feng added.
"Yes, Sir!" the two leaders nodded and left in a hurry.
It took the local survivors minutes to get themselves mentally prepared to meet with the new leader of this facility. Although some of them had some worries in their mind, it would be shelved aside to make way for Zhang Qin Feng's new doctrine if they wished to continue to stay over here.
There are only twenty-two survivors left when they're gathered at the building Zhang Qing Feng and Satella used before this. It seems that this building was a pretty good location to held a meeting as it was the home for their first boss until a month ago.
"Where are the three remaining survivors?" Zhang Qin Feng asked.
"It seems that the others send another guy that was bitten into the barricaded area this morning before your arrival. As for the two remaining fellows, they should have escaped the base when we're fighting against the zombies." Shaun replied. He seems embarrassed by the fact two people have escaped while they're busy with the zombies.
"But you don't have to worry. The two that left have no significant contribution to the facility. As for the facility controls, we have most of them here. As long we feed the generator with the radioactive material, I'm sure the base operation will slowly get back to normal after a day or two." Shaun added.
"Good job." Zhang Qin Feng said. He then went to the outside and showed his face to the local survivors of this base.
"I am Zhang Qin Feng. Leader of the Wind Base. I'm sure I don't need to state the reason for my arrival here in this facility, but let me make something clear. I will run this place from now onwards. If you're unhappy to follow my lead, I'll give you some provisions so you can leave this place."
"For those that willingly follow me, I'll make sure that you'll be protected as long you contribute to this base's improvement. I'm sure every one of you here has something you're good at. Those that are staying and contributing can come over and tell me what your expertise is. As for those unwilling to follow me, stay where you are until I'm ready to distribute the provision to you."
After making clear his intention, Zhang Qin Feng went to a corner with a tablet computer in his hand. He made sure to keep track of their names and expertise before organizing them to the department that needed them.
By the time the military truck is finally here, Zhang Qin Feng went up to the back of the army truck. It took Stein a minute to transfer the second Reprinter Unit out from the Dimensional Storage.
"What the… Isn't this the Reprinter Unit? We'll be able to do much more thing with this machinery here." a few local survivors were happy that they had something to help them.
Zhang Qin Feng also brought a Substance and Matter Printers out from the back of the military truck. It puzzled the soldiers because they were seated at the back all the way until they arrived at this facility.
From what they know, there's nothing on the back of the truck until now.
Amongst everyone, Satella was the only one who was not shocked by Zhang Qin Feng's magical trick. It was beginning to become a trivial matter to her because she started to get used to it.
"Alright. Let us get the generator back online. The generator was just the first step to get this base back on its track. We'll have more to do after that." said Zhang Qin Feng.
The facility started to run again when the generator was repaired and getting feed with the radioactive materials. But based on the number of materials they have, it wasn't enough for the long run. Lucky for Zhang Qin Feng, keeping the generator up for at least a month won't be a problem.
But he also found the reason for the worm-like creature to stumble across this facility in the first place.
The generator seems to be an older version of what they're using right now. Since it relied on radioactive material as the fuel to generate energy, the disturbance in vibration and heat is inescapable.
Having this generator running equals inviting the worm-like creature and zombies sensitive to sound to come at them.
It was troubling, but Zhang Qin Feng had no other choice but to rely on this until he finished moving all his people from the current Wind Base to here. The foundation for their works went on quickly with the help of the Reprinter Unit.
Two days later, the facility was up and running. However, many parts of the facility are still yet to be under Zhang Qin Feng's control. To make sure he had total control over them, he would have to decide which method to proceed with.
He could either choose to send his men outside to look for the parts or change them. The first option would be seen as more economical, as the chances of success might be between 50-50. This was calculated by judging how far can the survivor run with limited resources on them.
The second option would be pricier, as the parts, resources, and manpower would take a chunk of assets from what Zhang Qin Feng currently has.
