Chapter 184: Hidden Threat (3)

"Give me a situation report of what is happening right now." Zhang Qin Feng said as he was on his way back to the battlefield. The corpse of the Mutant Chameleon is in his Dimensional Storage right now as he had no time to slowly inspect this abomination closely.

[Toot…]

[Luna II sense two missing vitals from our registered devices. Our number has likely dwindled to thirty-one soldiers left. Two of the vitals were also weaker than the others. The system believes that they're currently injured and waiting for first aid]

Stein reported.

"What the status now?" Zhang Qin Feng asked again after arriving at the battlefield. Exploiting the power from the automatic mode from his Centurion Custom, Zhang Qin Feng helps blow a few zombie heads that were coming too close at them.

"One death, two injured here in my team." Alex was the first to report the situation of his team. Out of eleven personnel, only eight were fit to continue.

"One death, no injured." Queenie followed after Alex.

Her team was evidently doing much better than Alex. But there's a reason for that. Their arrival was much later after all, and their positioning is also less noticeable compared to Alex.

As for Satella and Zhang Qin Feng's team, they're all positioned on the upper level. Since no zombie managed to get through Alex and Queenie's two levels barricade, it was natural for them not to be affected.

'Stein, how many zombies remained around us?' Zhang Qin Feng asked.

[Approximately 250 zombies with 1 Tyrant]

The system replied confidently.

"Everyone, continue with what you're doing. Our first priority shall be the zombie's horde. Make sure to leave nothing moving before we spent the last bullet we have." Zhang Qin Feng said.

"Yes, Sir!" the soldiers responded to his order. Out of a sudden, their attack was fiercer than before.

"Satella, how many bullets do you still have?" Zhang Qin Feng asked as he approached the building both of them were at earlier. It seems that Shaun already positioned himself on the ground floor to make sure that the attack from the mutant chameleon doesn't repeat.

"Ten," Satella screamed on top of the two-and-a-half-floor tall building.

With all the needed orders were given, Zhang Qin Feng didn't return to the building he was on earlier, but the one across the road. This building is significantly different from the other buildings surrounding it.

The word "New Shangwen Technological Park" was engraved on top of the left and right pillars as Zhang Qin Feng made his way into the building. Pushing the door open, a different row of words was on the metal plaque behind the receptionist's lobby.

[[Facility Control Tower, New Shangwen Technological Park.]]

'Stein, what is the status of this building right now?' Zhang Qin Feng asked. He was curious about the answer because as the control tower of this entire facility, shouldn't it have its own power generator to keep this building running?

But right now, this building is the same as the others. If it was not because the door is still capable of opening automatically, Zhang Qin Feng would have assumed that this building is a lost cause.

[The system notice a faint level of electricity generated from the spare generator two floors underground, but it was losing power as well. Based on the voltage supply, one week was the most it can run before going offline]

'Can you find out the reason for all of these?' Zhang Qin Feng asked.

Although he knew that some local survivors took parts of the essential control modules when escaping, it shouldn't have that much impact on the facility's day-to-day operation. Furthermore, as the central control tower of the entire facility, would the keys be given to people that cannot be trusted?

[If the system were to make a guess, it was because the control over the facility is incomplete. It was only completed halfway when the outbreak started]

[The evident sign that the construction was rushed to completion can be seen almost everywhere. This might have contributed to the disorganization in the control modules they're using]

'That might be possible. If this was not the case, I can't think of why this facility can turn into a mess like this.' Zhang Qin Feng said. He cautiously ascended to the upper floors using the staircase. He soon arrived at the door separating him from the rooftop used by Tane.

His hand reached to the handle and gave it a tug. After finding that it was locked, Zhang Qin Feng gave the door a few knocks and told the other side to open the door. But his words went to deaf ears as there were no responses at all.

*BANG! BANG! BANG!*

Zhang Qin Feng knocked on the door harder for their attention. But for the second time, it went to deaf ears again.

"Looks like they've been getting ready for quite some time in case of unexpected arrivals." Zhang Qin Feng chuckled after they ignored his call twice.

This could only mean one thing.

These people might have no idea about how the leaders ended up as the target to be zombified. Still, they're not entirely innocent when it comes to the reason behind the Tyrant's incredible durability.

Since these local survivors had chosen this path, Zhang Qin Feng finds no reason for him to maintain the attitude as before. Since it was a fight they wanted, then all he had to do was accepting the challenge!

'Did they think that a mere metal door and frame would be sufficient to keep me here?' Zhang Qin Feng asked.

'Stein, calculate the direction and how far I need to stand to blew a hole in the wall.' Zhang Qin Feng asked the reliable system for a suggestion.

[Toot…]

The system immediately helped Zhang Qin Feng adjusted his firing point through private communication in his mind.

As for those on the rooftop, they're both curious and suspicious about why it went silent after two knocks. There is no sign of anyone leaving the frontline and coming into the building, except for Zhang Qin Feng.
