Chapter 162: Large-Scale Attack (1)

"Pristine?" Zhang Qin Feng's facial expression changed after hearing this keyword. Although their situation right now is far from critical, finding a vehicle in a pristine condition is akin to growing a pair of wings in their expansion and survivability.

A smile quickly appeared on his face the more he thought about what Satella mentioned.

"Look at your face… You're smiling from one end to another. You're just like what I expected." Satella hugged one of Zhang Qin Feng's arms and enjoyed the celebration. Although their numbers were just around sixty or so, their bond was much stronger than the other survivors.

It might be due to the way Zhang Qin Feng and Satella ruled the Wind Base. In a way, the base hierarchy is similar to a fast-food restaurant. Except while it was for instant decision making, Zhang Qin Feng, the founder, hardly get himself involve in the day-to-day operation.

Perhaps this was the reason why the Wind Base could develop this far.

"Why won't I smile from this piece of good news? If we managed to get it working, it would significantly boost our expansion speed." Zhang Qin Feng replied while pinching her cheek lightly.

"What do you want to do next? Should we abandon our plan to attack the horde and sneak to the other side without alarming them? This way, we can conserve at least half of our resources." Satella asked by whispering beside his ear.

It was a casual conversation, but not one that can be talked about loudly in an open area and not while they're celebrating their findings.

The party continued for another hour before they eventually got rid of the bonfire and returned to their post. The base allows the guards to rest longer if they were working when the others were partying.

The morning was here by the time Zhang Qin Feng opened his eyes again. But different from usual, this morning was livelier than how it used to be.

"Ah, you're awake?" Satella said. It was a pure coincidence as she was coming back to the room to collect something.

"What's going out outside?" Zhang Qin Feng asked. "They seem to be more energetic than before," he added.

"That's because some of them has started with the serum injection program. It was pretty standard for these guys to start showing what they can do now after some augmentation on their ability." Satella said.

"Also… You should come out and check out what Liam made. It was sensational. Did you purposely get a machine here so he could do something like this for all of us?" Satella asked.

She didn't wait for his reply and left the room after kissing Zhang Qin Feng on his forehead.

'Sensational? What's wrong with that processor Marvin twerked?' Zhang Qin Feng was puzzled by Satella's words and decided to look after freshening himself.

Zhang Qin Feng nodded at the cake on the table when he came out from his room. Although the cake seems to have nothing special in his opinion, that was just the difference in presentation.

What was surprising here was that Liam could create an artisan quality cake without the need to provide him with ingredients like chocolate, nuts, dairy, and butter.

"Boss, what do you think? Would you like to have a bite?" Liam came with a plate and fork. Although the concept of eating a cake for breakfast was weird, that was not something they would have bothered here in post-apocalypse.

Over here, one can eat anything at any time. The concept of breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with different cuisine, does not exist here. Everything could go as long it's nutritious and filling.

"Why not? Get a slice for me then." Zhang Qin Feng nodded at Liam.

He had a lengthy conversation with Liam. And from his mouth, it seems Marvin wasn't entirely satisfied with the overall work he had down to the antique food processor. There's much more for him to try, but there was a problem in between.

The modification in the machine has reached the level where anything he would do will have to disassemble the entire piece of machinery. It was unfortunate. But with all available Substance and Matter Printers was used to manufacture other things right now, they can only wait for their turn.

"Ah… Then let him know that I can bring a new machine over when I found it. If I saw him later, I will tell him myself." Zhang Qin Feng said. With how quickly they managed to turn a processor into something that can make gourmet quality food, he would be foolish not to prioritize them.

After he finished the cake, Zhang Qin Feng went downstairs.

It was indeed busier with everyone having their part of work to accomplish. Even the twins were a part of this rocket launcher project by helping Victor push the rocket-propelled warhead further.

It seems that Satella was ready to lead the Vanguards today. A few of them have the rocket launcher strapped on their back as it officially gets to be used now.

"You're going out now? Be extremely careful out there. We're in the middle of transitioning to new weaponry, so don't get too excited about attacking the zombies. Always focus on your safety first, alright?" said Zhang Qin Feng.

"En. I will. Did you eat what Liam made today? I think he called it Keki?" Satella seems unable to forget the taste and flavor of the cake Liam made this morning. But that was understandable. It was hard to bake a cake in post-apocalypse with no flour, dairy, butter, nuts, and chocolate.

"Then, tell him to make it often. Ingredient-wise, I'll bring more over here so you can enjoy the food more often." Zhang Qin Feng said.

Soon after he finished with his words, an explosion came from the back, likely from the shooting range. The blast seems to be louder than before.

"It must be the others. Have a look. Alex will be following me out this time." Satella said. Once again, she kissed Zhang Qin Feng on his forehead before leaving.
