Chapter 132: Savior

That night, Zhang Qin Feng received quite an induction class of this world's common sense into his brain. If they delayed this procedure further, it might lead to some complications in the future, and that's not something everyone would prefer.

Based on what he was told, it seems that everything in this world goes around in a cycle. Manpower, people, base, resources… Having more doesn't mean it was better, but having none means you're no better than dying.

That means that except for those ambitious individuals that lead the survival base, the concept of hoarding does not exist. Even before the outbreak, the social security and support were too perfect. But what the perfection led to wasn't improvision but damnation.

It was slowly going downhill to destruction when families were no longer a concept they practiced. The advancement in science allowed the locals of this world to choose how they would like to "design" their offspring.

As to those who are unwilling to die earlier, there's a few methods they could consider. To clone a healthier custom body before replacing their consciousness over, or to use the internal organs from the clone body to replace what they needed.

What if an accident happened? An explosion in the town center because of a gas leak? And there's a report of over a hundred deaths and thousand injured?

The hospitals might be packed with people, but only a few days at most. Those that unfortunately died might have a 50% rate of getting cloned again with the memories intact, but if they don't, there's no big deal.

There's no marriage, working position, nor specialty to start with.

Anything destroyed can be repaired or rebuilt, and any unfortunate death can also be cloned to repopulate the world. It was as if their lives turned into a convenience.

It was until… The virus outbreak.

To Zhang Qin Feng, it was like forcing the culture of another race into his mentality. The fact this sounded so normal to people like Satella made him have the urge to vomit. For the first time ever, he felt that not knowing it might have been better for him.

Because right now, he felt like there's a numeral digit in his head. Like each person, including the zombies here were coded with a serial number. As long their motor activity ceased to operate, the cloning shelter will immediately have a replacement ready to be born from the growing tank.

Although he was excluded from this, knowing it won't make him feel better nor worst. It made him feeling disorientated.

"Feng…" Satella looked at Zhang Qin Feng's face filled with dreaded feeling, unknown what kind of expression he should be making.

[Toot… User]

-

[User…]

Stein secretly maintains contact with him, but it seems that he was no in a mood to bother with any of them. There were too many things going on in his right now.

For the first time, Zhang Qin Feng returned to the modern world quietly without telling Satella. All Satella felt was a gust of wind before Zhang Qin Feng vanished from the room. Without knowing what kind of feeling that was, tears were rolling down from the corner of her eyes.

"What… What is this?" Satella rubbed her eyes while feeling weird that there's water coming out from her eyes.

*Knock - Knock - Knock*

"Room Service!" as he did not put on a tag on the door today, the housekeeping had no option but to knock on the door for his attention. This ended up as a morning call to him as he dragged his tired body to the door.

"Please come in. I'm sorry if the room seems to be a little messy than usual." Zhang Qin Feng allowed the two female housekeepers to come in and clean the room.

[User]

Stein's came when it noticed Zhang Qin Feng's emotion was much stabler than before.

'Did you keep these things from me because you're worried that I couldn't handle it?' Zhang Qin Feng asked. But like what the system assumes, he does feeling much better after getting proper rest. It was not like he had an attachment to the people over there anyway.

Furthermore, knowing it or not wouldn't be a problem for him.

[The system is glad that the User can accept these facts positively. But before the User came to a conclusion from your understanding alone, may the system add some essential details that could help you?]

Stein seems to be asking for Zhang Qin Feng's approval before continuing with the topic.

'Of course. Go ahead." Zhang Qin Feng nodded.

"Sir, we're done cleaning the room. Is there anything else you would like us to replace?" the housekeeping staff politely speaks to Zhang Qin Feng.

"Ah… There's nothing else. Thank you for your hard work." Zhang Qin Feng reached his wallet and gave each of them a hundred Yuan Dollars note as their tips.

"Thank you, sir. Have a nice day." the two of them smiled as they left the room with generous tips from Zhang Qin Feng.

'Stein, continue.' Zhang Qin Feng rested his head on the sofa again and focuses on the conversation with the system.

[Do the User remember the system's request before we incorporated it into your mind?]

The system asked.

'It was to bring life back to the post-apocalypse world, correct?' Zhang Qin Feng remembered that when he heard about that request, he was slightly dumbfounded at first. But after so long going in and out between the worlds, he finally understands the meaning behind this request.

[Since the User remembered it, then what are you hesitating for? Keep doing what you're doing. The system understands that the common sense between the two worlds might have conflict in your own cultural understanding, but it was up to you]

[Please don't forget that right now, whatever that still remains in the post-apocalypse is considered a relic. To make it easier to understand, what the system is asking you to do is to become the savior of that world, not repairing it]

[You don't have to hesitate about what you're doing if you think it is correct]

Stein added. The last sentence it mentioned enlightened Zhang Qin Feng as he felt that he misunderstood everything from the start.
