The order had been given.

Momoa was not the kind to want to keep waiting.

Immediately, the sound of machinery crackling into position was heard.

This machine had a strong resemblance to a telescope.

It was very large and occupied more than half of the roof.

It was surprisingly powered by the heart of the rank 4 hell beast that had within it the souls of his kin.

This machine and this method of growth had, of course, been detailed instructions from the torn out page of the Sacred Book of Death.

Momoa had a broad smile on his face as he walked up to the machine and pushed the button himself.

The telescope suddenly began to spin in an incredible manner.

The spinning got faster and faster, giving a low whistle that also became louder as time went on.

And then it happened.

~boom~

A low boom was heard, and the screaming of disgruntled demon souls was heard as the light of the blood moon was drawn into the telescope.

It was like blood flowing through the air into the telescope and then into the angel feathers that had been set at its base in a transparent tube.

The moment the power of the blood moon touched upon the angel feathers, the change began.

From the tip of the feathers, the subtle change began as the feather started to change color from white to black.

....

This night was destined to be a fate-changer for many people. At least it was going to be a change for those who had the knowledge and skill to harness the gifts of the blood moon.

For some others, it would be a stumble into a fateful encounter that would change the course of their lives and even the earth forever.

An example would be the young man running for his life through what many called the old battlefield.

It was an expanse of land spanning several kilometers where humans took their last stand against the demons that invaded their home.

On this ground, many lost their lives. No! On this ground some fifty years ago, all of them lost their lives and the right to call the earth their home.

At the moment, the spoilt brat of a strong and wealthy demon was playing a game with his human slaves.

They had temporarily stopped passing through this age old battlefield filled with the rubble of machinery from that time.

In fact, the bones of the dead could still be seen scattered all over the place.

All of which served as a testament that humanity had given it its best but had still lost greatly.

The young demon brat had decided to take a short break on his journey in order to enjoy the beauty of the blood moon that only came once every fifty years.

Rumours had it that it was the power of the blood moon that was used to break through the veil for demons to come into this world.

The young brat had two demon guards with him, one on each side, as he sat on a huge stool and enjoyed the look of despair on the faces of the human slaves that kneeled before him.

They were three men and one woman.

They were bound by chains and shackles around their feet, legs, and necks. One look at the dried blood around the shackled parts, and one could easily guess that they had been bound like this for a very long time. They all looked malnourished, and if not for the sagging breasts, one would not easily differentiate the female amongst them.

The young demon brat looked like a goat and was just about rank one in the lesser demon realm.

However, even this very low rank was far beyond the summit that humanity ever reached.

The young brat chuckled as he threw little maggots as food for the humans to eat.

This was a meal they wouldn't always have the pleasure of having.

Besides, they were accompanying this young brat this time around as food for his trip, and as such, they were not being fed.

Then again, who was going to feed the food that was going to become food in no time?

There were formerly ten of them.

All the others had already become food for the young brat and his two guards.

Only these four were left behind. With the journey still a bit longer before their destination, one or two of them would still end up as food.

As the young brat threw the maggots and cheered for them, they struggled for the maggots on the ground as if their lives depended on it.

However, the young brat did not notice the spark of intelligence in the eyes of one of them.

While the others were searching for the maggots on the desert sand, he was searching for something else.

This particular slave had looked around and noticed this was once upon a time a battlefield.

If it was a battlefield, then it meant that he could maybe find something good enough that could help him from the chains binding his legs and feet together.

This, at least, was his hope.

Just then, he and another sighted a maggot at a corner.

The other slave jumped on it, but he quickly backed off as a blade at that side cut his elbow.

This was the opportunity the slave with hope was looking for.

Immediately, he jumped on the maggot, using his hands to search for the blade under it while he used his mouth to eat from the ground.

This impressed the young brat, and he clapped as he cheered for the hard work.

At this time, the little bowl of maggots was finished, but the young brat was not satisfied.

He wanted to have more fun.

He turned to one of his guards, "What do you think? What should they do next?"

The guard leaned in and whispered lowly.

The young brats eyes widened with excitement.

"Good! Good!!" He nodded again and again.
