91 Chapter 91: Just the back up
Hearing the voice made Alex’s defenses weaken. It was the voice of a man who has always protected him since he was little. While his elder brother has never been the touchy, loving type he always has a method of conveying his emotions. Alex knew this person are about him so much!
Bang!
Alex felt a firm right hand grab hold of him and pull him back. It all happened in less than a second but Alex saw it all clearly. A man in a black leather jacket with a white shirt and jogger stepped forward a threw a punch forward!
BOOM!
A powerful shockwave erupted as the beam shattered under the strength of his bare fist. The man’s eyes flickered as he wiped his hand to the right, releasing a powerful shockwave that prevented all the rocket shells from reaching them!
He and Alex watched as everything exploded in mid-air.
“It’s Damian Briggs...” No one knew who said that but it sent fear down the spines of everyone around.
Damian raised his hand lazily and threw them forward.
“Their formation is broken... They have left their hiding places... Kill them all!” Damian didn’t seem to scream but his voice boomed like thunder!

Without hesitation or even an attempt to wait for Alex’s orders, they quickly moved their vehicles, running after the feeling gang members.
While Alex has the name of the Briggs to back him up, Damian has made a name for himself all across the world. He could be considered one of the top A rated guardians and even though he lacked deviant powers his strength has always been outstanding! Unlike Alex who is still unknown to the world, Damian is different.
He has gone toe to toe with the world’s strongest A rated deviants and won! He has even fought against an S rated enemy and still didn’t lose! His fame is far beyond anything Alex has achieved and what was more shocking was that his achievements were acquired purely using the demon-kin secret martial techniques.
Damian had practiced nothing else, he chose to stay true to this path, and right he can be considered a beast, even though he is yet to step foot into the third stage of the demon-kin secret martial technique.
“W-why are you here?” Alex mustered enough energy to talk.
He almost fell back on his knees but he got caught by Tracy and she watched him spit out a mouthful of blood. His eyes looked heavy and when he saw Tracy’s tearful eyes, his heartfelt even heavier!
“That is a warm way to welcome a brother who went out all the way to Florida just to save his little brother... Or did you think I will let you go against an A rated deviant all alone?” Damian asked with a raised eyebrow. His eyes switched from Alex to Tracy from time to time and Alex knew why.
Damian was one of the ‘suitors’ who came for Tracy and he got rejected too. It’s only normal acts this way in a situation like this.
“The rumors are true?” Alex was momentarily stunned.
If he actually went into an all-out war with the people of the Tyrant gang today, he most likely would have ended up dead with Tracy!
Once again he felt annoyed by his unreasonable lack of power. If he had the strength necessary, most of these things would have been resolved easily.
“Yep... It is the enhancer deviant, Mr. Blade” Damian said the name so casually as if he wasn’t bothered but when Alex heard the name he could only remember Klay of the culture!
That youth left a deep impression on him after their last encounter. Alex has always believed enhancers may be the weakest out of all the deviant categories but after his encounter with Klay of the culture, he realized something.
“In the face of Absolute power, all forms of techniques are useless!”
As long as someone had absolute strength he can walk through all situations that seemed tricky! All crooked roads will be made straight forcefully!
This is what it means to be strong!
Seeing Damian treat the enhancer like air made Alex a bit bothered but he didn’t voice his concern. His eyes remained calm as he scanned the entire location and frowned.
“You have lost your path little brother... Not only did you get used for an experiment by this woman, but you also have an illegitimate power... You practice lesser secret martial techniques now and you even entertain the emotions of the woman who used you as a Lab rat....” Damian said.
All through their conversation, Damian has always maintained the same calm and uncaring look on his face making it hard to determine what he feels at that moment.
“Because it is a different path doesn’t mean it is the wrong path! This is the path I chose to walk... I hope you will respect it” Alex said coldly and Damian simply nodded before heading towards the direction the car ran off to.
“Where are you going?” Alex was stunned.
“Where else? I intend to finish the battle today... We cannot afford to give the Tyrant gang a chance to escape, so it all needs to happen today!” Damian said without looking back while he walked.
Gunshots were already blazing and loud cries could be heard everywhere! This was just the deserted part of the state with mutant beasts lurking around in the shadow. Leaving him behind here without security or no means of transportation is no different from death!
Tracy looked pale, it was clear she understood their only option!
They had to see this through with Damian!
“Alex is in no condition to fight! Call back some of the forces! Have him taken back to the villa, he needs treatment!” Tracy complained but Damian didn’t bother looking her way or replying.
“Don’t wats your breath dear... In the home of the Briggs, defeat means death... He already considers me a walking corpse” Alex said with a bitter smile on his face.
Thinking back on it now, Alex realized that since walked into the outside world, he has suffered defeat at the hands of many!
Even though his defeat only came at the hands of far stronger than him in level, Alex chose not to make any excuses and wholly accepted them as his own. If not for the fact he has always managed to balance his defeat with achievements, he was sure the Briggs would have made a move against him by now!
“What do we do now?” Tracy asked with a worried look on her face.
“What else can we do? We follow him” Alex rolled his eyes.
With Tracy’s help, they followed Damian, and while they moved, Alex held onto a beast core gem and cast the matter absorption ability. He felt a warm energy flow into his body through his hands, spreading across his body beautifully.
The first time he found out about his ability to absorb the power of beast cores, it healed his wounds so this time Alex planned to use the same method. Inteabof using this method to refine his techniques, he only used it. To nourish his body, spreading it across equally.
As they walked, they came across numerous dead bodies. It was clear a battle happened here and of course, the untrained forces of the Tyrant gang were murdered viciously. With their range and surprise attacks out of the way, they were no match for the small forces of the Briggs.
Alex walked in silence while he kept absorbing the power of the beast’s core. When he felt strong enough to stand on his feet and move alone he stopped absorbing. He wasn’t too sure about the adverse effect of absorbing too much power all at once and he also didn’t want people to find out about this part of the ability. The secret of his powers is reserved for him, Silver, Tracy, and Jason only.
No more no less.
After walking for about five minutes, they finally reached Damian who was standing with one sword and the rest. They were already devising a plan of attack when Alex arrived.
Seeing the bloodied Alex they left behind these people were overwhelmed by guilt and they dared not look him in the eye. One sword looked down in shame while Damian looked at Alex standing on his two feet in surprise!
Although he didn’t see how serious Alex’s injuries are under the Silver armor, he guessed it was enough to keep him out of commission for a while. Seeing him walking casually with a body dyed red with blood, he was stunned.
“You survived? I didn’t expect you to get here... Even if you did, I expected the lady to carry you here” Damian said honestly and Alex frowned.
“What are you doing?” Ale ignored his words and asked the question.
“Huh? What does it look like? I’m preparing a strategy... What do you think?” Damian wore a confused look on his face. He made it seem like he just heard a stupid question.
“Last I checked, I am the one in command of this operation... You are just the back up” Alex said coldly and everyone present gasped in shock!
How can a D rated human have the guts to speak to an A rated master in this manner!
Damian Briggs for that matter!
