I flew at maximum speed and hit one person climbing the rope. Then, I maneuvered and kicked another one. However, just as I was about to hit the third one, a fireball came at me, forcing me to dodge it.

And then, the fireballs from the wyverns kept coming at me. So I kept moving away, not having a chance to attack.

Panic was starting to fill my head, but I tried to stay calm, or else I wouldn't have come up with a good solution.

I flew low and found the wyverns didn't care about the kingdom's troops. They kept shooting at me with fireballs, though it ended up hitting their own allies, as well as hitting my subordinates.

Should I wait until the succubi come?

No, I have to do something else too. Maybe the succubi weren't enough against all this.

When turning my head to the wyverns chasing me, I saw a shapeshifter turn several of his comrades and foes into the undead. I then contacted Emily, giving her some instructions.

I changed my flight direction away from the battle below, then turned to dive into one of the wyverns.

I flew straight to gather momentum, even though it caused my body to be hit by numerous fireballs that gave out immeasurable heat and pain.

A wyvern couldn't change course suddenly. So, I can still catch up even if my target runs away.

And I punched the creature's body with all my might, crashed it hard to the ground.

Yeah, I didn't attack the rider. I need that wyvern.

Luckily Emily had already come to where the wyvern was blown away.

Emily stabbed her greatsword into the wyvern's neck, and then I saw nothing because I still had to escape from the remaining seven wyverns.

Please, Emily. You can do this.

I screamed aloud from the pain and burning sensation all over my body. Every maneuver and flapping of my wings made me suffer many times over.

At this rate, I won't be able to take down the wyvern again.

Minutes passed, but it seemed like hours to me. My ears caught the screams of pain from behind. When I looked over there, I found that one rider had fallen from the wyvern with a frozen body.

And behind that, Emily was already riding on a gray wyvern. It was the wyvern I had knocked down earlier.

"Sorry took me a long time, my lord!" Emily spoke through the communication feature. "Resurrecting this thing is a bit difficult."

Yes, now the wyvern has become undead.

"Six left!" I replied to her. Wyverns whose riders have fallen won't be able to attack us anymore. "Don't let your guard down!"

However, even though the number of those creatures is decreasing, that doesn't mean it's getting any easier. We're just the two of us, after all.

Emily was able to take down that one rider earlier because she used a surprise attack. Now the Wyverns were getting more aggressive, making it difficult for us to counterattack, and we could only dodge.

The several cold bursts from the undead wyvern's mouth didn't have much effect either.

"We are coming, Your Majesty!" Xenora's voice finally reached my ears. "Just wait!"

"Please, hurry up, Xenora!" I responded, dodging the umpteenth fireball. "We are overwhelmed here!"

This is another one of my mistakes. I hid the higher-ups of the kingdom's army too far from the battle. So, Xenora took some time to come here.

"Ugh!" I screamed in pain as a ball of fire grazed my leg. It seems that this fatigue and pain have started to reduce my agility.

It's just a matter of time until I fall.

Emily managed to slash the head of one of the wyvern riders, leaving only five of the wyverns.

And that's when I finally saw the succubus army coming. They performed various maneuvers to attack and attract the attention of the wyverns. In an instant, the creatures were scattered and couldn't focus on me alone.

That does not mean we are immediately on the verge of victory. Some succubi were bitten, and some fell down with their bodies on fire.

I found Xenora fighting on top of one of the erratic flying Wyverns. She had a hard time doing that because her footing was unstable, and her opponent was good at using the sword.

I flew there, intending to attack the rider. However, because of the wyvern's frantic moves, I got difficulty doing it too.

Even so, it doesn't mean I give up. I continue to focus on the rider.

The rider threw several knives that I was still able to evade. Because his attention was drawn to me, the rider didn't have time to dodge Xenora's kick to his chest.

Xenora's kick wasn't too hard due to her poor balance, but it was enough to make him stagger.

And I punched him until he fell far away.

Xenora flew towards me. "You are seriously injured, Your Majesty!"

"I'm fine." Despite saying that, I'm already starting to lose my breath. My wings felt as if they were losing strength, sending me tumbling down.

Xenora immediately caught me.

"No, we still have to fight," I muttered.

My blurry vision saw a single wyvern figure falling to the ground, creating a thunderous thud.

"Looks like we won, my lord." Xenora hissed. Her voice sounded like she was holding back tears.

As I looked around, I only found the wyvern that Emily was riding in.

And when I looked down, I found the battle over. Bodies were scattered, either from my troops or those of the opponent.

A succubus with burns on her hands came to us.

"W-we finally managed to defeat those wyverns, lady Xenora." She was on the verge of tears. "But, in that short time, we lost half of our regimen."

"Thanks for the report," Xenora answered with a somber tone. "Go. Help your friends."

I closed my eyes. "I'm sorry, Xenora. Even though you already have a strong bond with your subordinates…. This is all because I am incompetent in making strategies."

"It's not your fault, my lord." Xenora flashed a faint smile, though her eyes had also become wet. "No one would have guessed that the wyverns would come out of portals like that."

"But..." I shut my mouth. If I complain about this too much, I'll look pathetic. I have to look strong in front of my subordinates, so their morale doesn't drop.

We descended on the former battlefield among the corpses.

As I walked, I got hateful looks from the remaining opposing soldiers. My subordinates have already restrained them. Otherwise, they would definitely jump on me even if it cost them death.

Then, my troops of various races approached me.

Even with mixed feelings, I raised my hand. "We won!!!"

My scream was greeted with cheers from them.
