[Vorn's POV]

As soon as we got to the base, Velvet ran to Helen, who was kneeling in front of three corpses covered by blankets.

"Madam Velvet…." The witch shed tears.

The former prophet hugged that woman's body. "It's okay, Helen. I am here."

Despite saying that, Velvet also sobbed.

"I'm going to check if there are victims who need my help." Lexi bowed to me and hurried away.

My gaze wandered across the other cloth-covered corpses. Some individuals opened some of the cloth and wrote on the paper for identification.

Some of them have been my subordinates for a long time. That means they're tough enough. And they die in this condition.

Ayre, Phisovia and Xenora came up to me. Before I could speak, they knelt and said in unison. "Our apologies, your highness."

"Rise," I responded with a tense chin because I was holding back my emotions.

Ayre replied. "But this happened because of our incompetence…."

"I said, get up," I replied in a cold tone. There's no time for stuff like this. "And tell me exactly what happened. Don't leave out even the slightest detail."

They got to their feet and began to tell everything. The longer I listened to those women, the more my anger overflowed.

However, I'm not mad at them.

"Fergus Algrave, huh?" I turned around, thinking back to the time I arrived in this world. I abandoned Fergus because I didn't trust him and didn't want to share my throne. I never thought I would face him again.

"We once fought him in Ascaind, but he ran away." Velvet chimed in, still burying Helen's head into her chest. "However, we didn't fight the strongest version of him. Many have tried to seal his power, but no one has succeeded completely. All of that just continues to reduce his magical abilities."

"And now, after obtaining a new body, he might be able to awaken his former power again?" I rubbed my face. "Actually, what is his main power?"

"He can summon monsters that don't exist in this world. No one knows how he can do that and where the monsters come from." Ayre explained.

"W-hat should we do now, my lord?" Phisovia asked nervously.

I didn't answer right away because Karl came up to me and bowed, though he didn't say anything.

"We will avenge this humiliation," I hissed through clenched teeth. Every muscle in my face tensed with anger. "But before that, we will improve security here. We will identify the existing flaws and immediately fix them. We're having a meeting…."

"Helen, what's wrong?" Velvet's question cut me off.

I stared at Velvet's guard. Helen breathed heavily, her mouth opened wide, and fangs started growing on her gums.

"I was bitten by the twin sister of that vampire, madam." She had a little trouble speaking.

"No…." Velvet shook her head, looking at her best friend's pale face. "This can't be happening."

Despite her condition, Helen smiled. She took out a knife from the pocket of her robe. "As soon as I heard that the escapees were vampires, I brought this just in case."

The eyes of the former prophet widened. "This…."

"This is a silver knife, madam. Very effective for eradicating vampires, can kill them in an instant." Helen found it increasingly difficult to breathe but maintained her smile. "I beg you, can you stop my suffering, my dear madam?"

I intervene. "We here are mostly demons. I will make sure we all accept you."

"T-thank you, lord Vorn." Helen started to stutter. "B-but I don't want to…. I want to remain a human and die a human."

With an unbelievably trembling hand, Velvet grabbed the knife and pulled it from the sheath. The blade of that thing glistened with light.

"Please, madam…." Helen ducked while squeezing her chest. "I can already feel it…. I can already feel the desire for…. B-blood…. Blood…. Arggghhh!!!"

Suddenly Helen pounced on Velvet, but the former prophet swiftly stabbed her underling with the silver knife. Instantly, Helen's body fell into Velvet's arms.

Velvet hugged that woman's body with tears in her eyes. The veins on his face tensed up, showing more anger than sadness.

I walked in another towards Kaine, who was guarded by several individuals. The vampire was lying on the ground with his body and face covered in bruises. Looks like the others have taught him a lesson.

"Lord Vorn, will you listen to me for a moment?" He asked with a faint smile.

I looked at the faces of the minotaurs and succubi guarding Kaine. The succubi seemed to be holding back tears, while the minotaurs looked pissed off. The horned creatures were upset that their comrades had not died in the war.

To be killed by an intruder like this is an insult to them.

"Please, lord Vorn." Kaine coughed, and a bit of blood spurted out of his mouth. "You have to listen to me…."

I pulled the vampire's hair before he could finish his sentence. He couldn't fight back and could only beg. "Please, lord Vorn! It's about Fergus!"

"Regarding his ability that might increase after getting a new body?" I hissed, resisting the urge to finish him off. I have no right to do that. "I already know that."

Kaine choked hard. Looks like my guess was correct. He wanted to persuade me with that information.

I threw that bastard in front of Velvet. The prophet was stunned for a moment, then got up, glaring at that man.

The vampire's mouth let out a bitter chuckle. "At the very least, spare my sister, lord Vorn. Don't kill her, I beg you. I asked her to do this."

I crouched, put my mouth close to his ear, and paused for a moment before whispering. "No."

Without seeing his expression at all, I stood up and shouted. "Anyone who wants to get pieces from him, come here!"

The nearest succubi, shapeshifters, and minotaurs immediately walked to the vampire. Velvet dropped the silver sword in her hand.

She didn't intend to kill that man quickly. Death is too easy for that vampire.

"What if I use magic that can make him unable to die immediately?" One of the shapeshifters suggested.

"Lord Vorn!" The vampire screamed as I walked away from him. "Spare Kayla, please!!! This is not her fault!!!"

"Ayre, Karl." I keep going. "Follow me. We'll have a meeting."
