Chapter 39: Defeating The Crow(1)

Blake, who was free-falling beside the crow, clicked his tongue in annoyance as he saw the crow had destroyed his darkness binding spell with ease and got itself completely freed from it.

Blake had already guessed that the darkness binding spell wasn’t capable of showing its maximum strength since the spell was cast in mid-air and there’s not a base where the darkness tendrils could use to plant their roots deep in the ground and get more pressing power to restrict their target.

But seeing the spell was destroyed just like that, gave Blake the motivation to create another original spell that would not be restricted both in the air or on the ground and could show its true strength anywhere.

But still, deep down, he was relieved that he trusted his instinct to jump off the crow’s body as he couldn’t imagine what would happen to his body if it were to be hit by the sharp wind that covered the crow’s whole body.

And while it’s true that he had given up on shooting another darkness bullet inside the crow’s skull for now, that didn’t mean he would let the crow go just like that.

The moment he saw the crow was about to free itself, Blake had already drawn the myriad of darkness tendril spell, and with the marking spell still on the crow’s back, of course, the spell would manifest all around the crow’s body.

Although Blake didn’t pour in as much nether as before since he knew that the crow would be able to dodge all of the darkness tendrils, the myriad of darkness tendrils spell still attracted a lot of nether to gather at once place, hence why the crow could easily sense when it was coming.

.....

Feeling the familiar feeling again of nether gathering up all around its body, the crow quickly flapped its wings to get away from its current location.

And while the crow was busy dodging darkness tendrils that Blake sent, Blake himself had quickly cast another spell to break his fall from the sky.

The crow had flown a little bit further away from the destroyed grounds before Blake fell, and with that, Blake was able to save himself from having a broken leg and spinal cord by latching a darkness tendril onto a tree trunk and breaking the momentum of his body falling downward by swinging on it.

Blake already saved himself from crashing onto the ground at bone-breaking speed, but the main problem hadn’t been solved yet.

The crow was still busy dodging the darkness tendrils, but the darkness tendril would soon stop spawning and with the crow being already aware of his presence, Blake wouldn’t be able to hide once more.

So the moment his feet landed on the ground below, Blake didn’t waste any time and started drawing runes again on the ground beneath him.

And just like what Blake had predicted, about 4 seconds after he landed, he heard another resounding caw coming from the crow, high in the sky above him.

The crow had successfully dodged all the darkness tendrils again even with more wounds on its back and a single wound on its head. And now, it had turned its body, facing the direction of where it saw Blake fall earlier.

With Blake not even attempting to hide his body, the crow was able to quickly notice the humanoid demon was squatting on the ground. It had found the target that it was looking for.

The caw was a threat given to him as the crow had quickly flapped its wings as it dived straight towards Blake’s location at an unimaginable speed.

But Blake didn’t pay the crow any attention and instead focused on finishing the runes that he was currently drawing.

And by the time Blake had finished drawing the runes, he only got a full second to see a very large shadow was already making its way towards him at a breakneck speed.

It didn’t take him even a split second to recognize the large shadow was none other than the large crow, so Blake didn’t hesitate at all and poured nether into the activation runes of the rune formation that he had just drawn.

Blake didn’t know whether it would help or not, but he increased the amount of nether he injected into the rune formation in hopes that it would activate faster.

And so it did.

In just half a second, all the runes had already lit up and the rune formation had been successfully activated.

The crow was already a third quarter of making its way towards Blake. And with its current speed, a few seconds were all it need to either snap Blake’s head off with its beak

Fortunately, a few seconds was enough for the already activated rune formation to manifest the spell that was written on it.

What Blake had drawn was the exact same rune formation that he had drawn a few moments ago, it was the rune formation to create the earth pillar.

So the moment the crow was only a few meters away from crashing onto Blake’s body, the ground beneath Blake’s feet suddenly rose up to the sky.

The crow who was already diving at full speed and already had its eyes locked on Blake, didn’t have any plans on letting the creature that had been constantly harassing it for the past hour, hence why it didn’t even think of ever-decreasing its diving speed and letting Blake run away or hide once again.

So when the earth pillar suddenly replaced Blake’s body, the crow wasn’t able to change its direction or even slow down at its current speed, and it crashed head-first onto the earth pillar.

With the crow’s huge body and terrifying momentum, of course, the earth pillar wasn’t able to hold itself together and it didn’t even take a second after the crow’s head crashed onto it for the thick earth pillar to crumble down, with the crow’s huge body buried beneath the chunks of earth from the destroyed earth pillar.
