117 Robus Leveled Up

“After all the things that had just happened in front of you, the first thing that came to your mind is eating the souls?”

When Blake heard Vera’s words, He thought that he had messed up.

“Wait, your spell formation was very amazing. In fact, I was speechless about it due to how incredible it was, capable of defeating all 19 humanoid demons with just one combined spell formation.”

“But seeing those souls that probably had a sweet taste to them just laid there without being touched, I just can’t help but think about them first.”

Blake quickly explained as he was afraid that Vera thought he was undermining her spell and not paying attention to the explanations that she gave him.

And when Vera just stared down at him blankly from above, Blake thought that he really did piss her off.

But before Blake was able to utter a single word of apology, Vera suddenly laughed.

Vera laughed hard enough that Blake could feel her shoulders and chest heaving up and down in rapid succession right behind his head.

He wondered what made her suddenly laugh like that from out of nowhere, but seeing that she really did laugh from her heart, Blake decided to just shut his mouth and let her enjoy the moment.

.....

Once Vera finally calmed herself down, Vera heaved a huge sigh to make sure that she had squeezed out all her laugh before saying,

“All those spell combinations and even when your body is still in a weakened state due to a lack of nether, yet you still think about eating the souls...”

“I am starting to think that you are really my little sibling that I don’t know I have and I have never met before.” She said as she slowly floated down toward the middle of the clearing.

Blake wanted to ask Vera what she meant by her last sentence, but as they got closer and closer to the 19 souls that were waiting to be eaten, Blake’s mind once again went back to the thought of having sweet and savory souls to eat.

The chance of him eating 19 souls in a single seating was practically 0,1% to none under normal circumstances as even though there were many creatures in the forest, Blake doubted that he could hunt them all.

The forest itself was very huge and the creatures living in it didn’t live close to each other. It would take a long time for Blake to stumble upon a group of creatures that he could hunt and eat their souls.

So with a 19 souls buffet in front of him, Blake couldn’t help but lick his lips and gulp as he imagined how many souls he would get in total after eating those souls.

Of course, He would only eat the souls that Vera didn’t want and he would also share some with Robus as not only did Blake want his best friend to also level up, Robus did play a crucial part in saving him from the chase of the 19 humanoid demons.

As they got closer to the ground below, Vera slowly put Blake down on his feet while still holding onto him to make sure that he didn’t collapse without her support.

And after seeing that Blake was capable of standing on his own without falling to his knees, Vera finally released her hands from Blake’s body before saying,

“You and Robus can have all the souls, I don’t need any.”

“Really?” Blake asked with almost shimmering eyes.

“Yes. Those souls didn’t even meet the bare minimum quality of souls that I needed to eat to gain even 0,1% of progress in my evolution.” Vera said as a matter of factly as he urged Blake to eat the souls.

Hearing Vera’s reasoning and remembering that she did come from the deeper demon realms, it totally made sense that a soul that was only worth a few souls wouldn’t matter much to her considering that even he currently needed 100 souls to a level up.

Blake didn’t even know how many souls he would get from a creature that had only evolved once and how many souls he would need by the time he had evolved once to reach his next evolution, but he was sure that it wouldn’t only be a mere 100 souls.

And for Vera that had come from he didn’t know where in the deeper realms, simply imagining she needed 1000 or even maybe 10000 souls for only a level up, it made sense that she didn’t need to eat a mere 6, 7, or 8 souls in the first demon realm.

So Blake quickly nodded his head in understanding as he walked closer to the nearest soul that had floated above the carcass of a humanoid demon and the debris of the earth spikes.

Blake stared at the dark soul orb for a second before quickly putting the soul in his mouth to taste the sweet flavor that he wanted.

It didn’t take a genius to imagine the pain and fear the 19 humanoid demons felt in their body and soul before they died. And the huge fire tornado blender succeeded in giving all 19 souls a tinge of sweetness in the taste of the souls.

‘Maybe I should make my spell cause more pain to enhance the flavor of the souls I eat...’ Blake began to think as he moved on to another floating soul and tasted the sweetness of its taste.

Blake continued munching on the souls available in front of him and every soul that he had eaten had a sweet taste to them, further convincing him to make his spells cause more pain instead of an instant death spell that instilled less pain and terror in his enemies.

Blake was about to go to another floating soul after he swallowed another one, but a notification in his head stopped him in his tracks.

[You have leveled up!]

It was a notification that he didn’t think he would get soon remembering the number of souls he needed to collect only go up each time after each level up.

Blake checked his status and heaved another sigh of helplessness as the number of souls that he needed to eat had become exponentially bigger again after he leveled up.

But seeing that there were still many souls left on the ground, Blake decided to just not think about the number of souls he needed, and just eat and enjoy as many souls as possible while there were many good quality souls in front of him.

Of course, with him already leveled up, Blake also told Robus to get in and eat the souls, splitting up the 19 souls.

And in the end, Blake ate 10 souls while Robus ate 9.

Blake didn’t mind sharing the souls about 50-50 with Robus as the huge gorilla had been his only friend for quite some time, and they had helped each other a lot in their journey.

Moreover, Blake was more than happy knowing he had given Robus 9 souls to eat as he could finally see his friend leveling up for the first time ever since the two of them had been together.

And Blake couldn’t be more jealous as he saw the stark difference between his level up and Robus’ level up.
