Chapter 105: Defense System!

Running on full speed, as fast as his legs could bear, Khal glanced back above his shoulder only to his complexion turn pale in the very next second.

“Fucking hell!” accelerating his Essence to the utmost limit, Khal’s body became even faster, his legs sending debris to all directions each time they got into contact with the ground.

Right behind him, Marx did the same and put greater strength behind his legs, while Asur used his healing power to keep his legs refreshed and healed from time to time; maybe Marx had Talent that made his body surpass human limits and make his speed reach great heights temporarily, but in the end, he was still a human. If he overdid it was quite possible his body could become a cripple, but with Asur here, he didn’t need to fear about that.

Or at least for the time being not…

While Marx was running at max speed that his legs could currently suffer, following Khal meters away from behind, Merlyn turned to look back and her pupils instantly shrunk to a size of a needle.

“Are you fucking kidding me? How is there so many?”

Right behind them, about a mile away, a flock of Ruby Beasts was flying toward them with speed akin to a chaotic crimson storm, swallowing the world below them into darkness.

“There must be hundreds of them if not more! Wasn’t it stated that only a few survived after the Alpha got killed? So how can this be possible?” Merlyn was unable to process the sight behind her and glanced at Asur on the other hand of Marx.

“It seems the Alpha had a secret hide-out that not even the Cultivator’s Organization knew about. But still… This amount is way too huge!”

“Not only that but as I can sense it each of them are on the Fourth Cultivation Stage! If they reach us we can only pray for a merciful death.”

“They won’t catch up with us…” grunted Marx through his clenched teeth, seemingly in great pain. If it weren’t for Asur’s help let alone keeping up with Khal, he would have been swallowed up by the Ruby Beasts together with his friends.

“How far are from Moon City?” asked Merlyn from Asur as it was apparent she felt anxious about her brother’s safety.

Body Strengthening Talents in the Lower Stages were only proficient for a small amount of time so if this keeps on going, maybe not completely crippled, but Marx’s legs will sustain grave injuries both internally and externally!

“Not far away. With this speed, it should take us roughly 10-20 minutes most. But the problem here is not that, but if the Beasts will follow us all the way there or not. As you may see, even though we are already far away from Moon Mountain under clear daylight, we are still chased by a flock of Beasts from Moon Mountain. This will be way more troublesome than we think.”

Merlyn knew that Asur had a point but still shook her head, “Yeah, that is true. But if the gatekeepers can notice our approach in time they can activate Moon City’s defense system instantly. With that, killing these Beasts won’t be a problem.”

Asur nodded, “Yes, that is true. But did you forget what will happen if they decide to attack? Moon City’s defense system uses a World Tier item! If they attack we will be reduced to ash together with the Beasts!”

Merlyn’s complexion paled upon realizing that and asked, “Then what should we do? Let alone us, even a Cultivator on the Seventh Stage would be unable to defend against a World Tier item!”

Asur remained quiet for a while and turned his gaze at Khal, “Khal!”

Khal who ran before Marx suddenly heard his name so twisted his head to the side and glanced back at Asur.

“Can you run faster?” asked Asur, instantly giving rise to a frown on Khal’s face.

“Run faster? Then this?” asked Khal, visibly shocked. If he could have run faster, he would have done so way sooner! After running on max speed using his Crimson Snake Dance, his feet already became sour and he knew a few more minutes he would go out of fuel.

Asur somewhat understood Khal’s problem and explained their situation to Khal. After a short while later he locked his gaze at his feet and said, “That is why you must reach Moon City’s gate way sooner than us and warn the guards beforehand about our approach. Like that, they can attack only the Beasts without harming us, I am sure about that.”

Khal remained silent and began to ponder.

Asur noticed the source of Khal’s hesitation so sighed and extended his arm. Immediately after, a translucent orb with green light swirling inside it appeared atop his palm, while Asur’s face remained indifferent.

“Heal and Boost.”

“!?”

In a flash like magic, Khal’s whole body got enveloped with a green light, while a refreshing feeling swept through his whole body. Right now, he felt as light as feather while the sour feeling inside his legs vanished like they didn’t exist in the first place!

“Now go…” said in a weak voice Asur, his face carrying great exhaustion after he used his Talent on Khal.

Khal was pleasantly surprised and knew it was a special power of Asur’s so after thanking him he accelerated the Essence around his feet even more.

*BAM!*

With greater momentum than before, Khal’s feet left a deep and wide pit while his figure vanished into the distance in a blink of an eye.

“Why did you do that? You can use this power of yours once every month! If you use it more than that you can sustain severe backlash from it!” said Merlyn as her voice carried great worry.

“This is the only solution. If I didn’t do it, no one knows if we could survive. Now the only thing we can do is to pray for Khal to reach Moon City before it’s too late.” talked Asur weakly, his complexion turning paler with each passing second.

“Haha, don’t tell me… Really? You must be joking! That is nonsense! I have never seen one with that huge not only in Moon City, but in my entire life!”

“Bro, when did I ever lie to you? You know me for years so if I don’t tell you the truth the heavens shall punish me right here and now! I tell you, that chick was thick and I tasted it firsthand! She had this huge bo-“

“Huh? Wait, what is that?”

“Eh? Where?”

Right before Moon City’s gate, two guards in iron armor were talking between each other spiritedly when suddenly the one on the right squinted his eyes and pointed into the distance.

The guy on right did the same but the next second his brows tightened while his mouth opened slightly, “A boy? How is he so fast?”

“Maybe he has a powerful Speed associated Talent or some kind of Movement type Art that he obtained from his family. Who kn-“

*BAM!*

But even before he could have finished his sentence, the guy who they talked about suddenly appeared before the gate in a flash!

“Eh?”

The guards were dumbfounded by the deep and long trenches in the ground that the Cultivator left behind after he completely halted his insane momentum like that, but the following sentence from the guy shocked them even more.

“Activate…. your Defense System… Now!”
