400 Chapter 8 - Crash landing
"Squeak!! Squeak!!!!"
A loud squeaking sound invaded his senses. Skyy frowned deeply. 'Did they change the manual voice? Why is it squeaking so much... I just want to sleep...'
"Squeak!!" something bounced on his Body.
Frowning he pushed it away and rolled to his side rolling up like a roly-poly.
The squeaking continued along with a few rattling sounds. Suddenly a sharp pain on his palm shook him awake.
Dazedly Skyy looked around. Red lights were flashing brightly in the small metal room. 'Where? Oh shit… we escaped and then that smoke put us out!' he weakly stood up holding the walls.
"Hiss!" he gazed at his palm. There was a small bite mark that was bleeding.
"Squeak!!!" the rat ran around him and then to the control panel and jumped on it.
Skyy ran to the window and gazed out. it seemed they were moving somewhere fast. No... they were descending somewhere. The gravity field in the escape pod was normalized making it seem normal.
'what's going on...'
He got a glimpse of the earth quite close.
'Shit! Shit! We're going to crash into the earth!' he ran to Kaden. "Kaden! Wake up! we are going to crash! Hey! I don't know how to control this thing!!!" he shook the limp man vigorously.
Nothing could wake him up.
"Kyle!" he cried running to him. Even his best friend couldn't be woken up.
in a panic, he ran to the control panel. The rat was jumping on some buttons squeaking. "Stop that! You're making it worse!" he read the button names. It was all in code names. "Who made this control panel? This is an emergency pod ah! It should be easy to use!"
Since this was a fully closed emergency pod, they could not even eject themselves out. it was totally impossible to open the doors now.
Skyy had no option left but to watch the earth getting closer and closer in despair. "How did this happen…" he mumbled under his breath. "They… they would rather we die than live in hiding… shit...'
Tears blurred his eyes. He dejectedly sat on the ground hugging Kyle tightly. 'I should at least save him...'
The escape pod entered the earth's atmosphere at a high speed slowly heating up red.
Their chance of survival was less than ten percent. If the craft went up in flames that chance would also be lost.
'I can't give up hope...' wiping his face he hurriedly opened all the cabinets. He found a few life jackets tucked away. He quickly rolled Kyle with the jackets and hugged him in his embrace. 'I'll not let him die like this…'
The whole pod started to tremble violently. The whirring sounds became louder.
Skyy gazed at the rat, which was still jumping on the control. "Come here…" he gestured for it.
The large rat ran to him.
He hugged it close and stuffed it into the lifejackets. "This is not going to end well... I'm sorry we brought you along,"
The rat froze, peering up at him.
Suddenly it jumped off and tugged at Kaden's clothes.
Sightly Skyy crawled close and pulled Kaden and hugged him alongside. This man was kind enough to free him. This was the least he could do for him.
"Now come."
The rat ran to him and jumped on his shoulders.
"I'm happy I met a cute creature like you..." Skyy kissed the rat's small paws.
The rat touched his face delicately.
The next second the temperature rose immensely a huge force pushed him to the ground crushing the pod.
But the rat suddenly let out an unusual sound. The whole place lit up.
The blinding white was soothing and warm.
Smiling Skyy hugged his friends. 'Death is not so painful…'
Death smelled bad, though.
His small nose twitched. Skyy frowned deeply with his eyes closed. 'Why does it smell like rot?' he slowly opened his eyes half expecting to see that warm white world called Heaven.
But what he saw was something different.
He was in what looked like a deserted factory. The steel walls were creaking lightly with the wind.
"huh?" he wiped his eyes and took a look again.
The scenery did not change one bit.
He was still in that factory.
"What?" he gazed at his hands. they were covered in sand. "Wait, sand?" he sniffed his hand. it was actually Earth!
"Then I'm at..." he looked around in glee. "I'm in earth. Kyle, we landed… Kyle?" he searched around him. he did not find the car site nor any of his friends. Only a small rat lay by his hand.
Skyy picked it up cautiously. It looked like that fat rat but… thinner. It still had that same white marking on the underside of its neck. "Did it get thinner in seconds?" he gently touched its stomach.
The rat was breathing smoothly.
Now that he was assured of that he stuffed the rat into his pocket and walked around. Finding his friend was the first priority.
The worn-down factory was completely empty. So, he chose to walk out. the huge door was half broken.
"How did I even crash in here? it's not possible at all..." The roof of the old factory was intact. He couldn't have just mysteriously appeared out of nowhere.
He chuckled. "that's totally not possible."
A small squeal was hard for his pocket.
He tenderly took the rat out. "You're awake. Let's go find my friends."
The rat gripped his hand and pointed to something outside. "You want to go out too? Me too. I've never been to earth~" he excitedly grinned.
The rat shook its head violently pointing to inside the factory.
"You want to go in? why? we have to find Kyle and Kaden. They must have survived the crash. I hope so…"
"Squeak." The rat bit his hand as he was about to walk out.
"Ow! You can't keep biting me, little one. It hurts." He covered his painful hand with a pout.
The rat squealed and jumped down from his hand. it started to tug at his pants pulling him into the factory in a hurry.
"what's wrong? why do you?"
That's when he saw it. a black skeleton peering at him from the distance.
"Wha…"
