Chapter 392 Chapter 392 - The Cure was alwasy close

Tian grabbed Yue's wavering hand. "Trexa after you are done with Fan, check him," she waved a hand in front of Yue's face but he wasn't reacting much.

The explosion Uncle Wen created was similar to a nuclear explosion. It was likely that Yue had his eyes opened and was blinded by the light.

She gazed at her parents, who hopped into the front set. "how's Fan?" Zou Nui gazed at them with tear-filled eyes.

"He is hanging on," Tian once again checked Fan's pulse. His powerful heartbeat was pounding loudly. "You done with him Trexa?"

Trexa tiredly hopped off him, panting softly.

"Pace yourself. Eat those lotus seeds,"

Trexa nodded, took out a small lotus seed from her cheek pouch, and crunched on it loudly. After eating it she regained her gusto and ran to Yue. Her small claws clutched Yue's shirt and climbed up.

"Trexa? Did you treat Fan… Fan... how is he…," Yue gently held the rat and kissed her head softly. His other hand was always on his husband's neck, checking his pulse.

Trexa squealed and snuggled into his neck. While doing so, she started to heal him. Slowly, Yue was able to regain his vision.

Blinking, he gazed down at his lap at his husband. "Fan…"

His poor husband was covered in soot, but he looked undamaged. "Oh thank god..." he leaned down and kissed his cheeks. "Fan…... I thought I lost you too... you silly man, why did you put your back to the blast… why are you so impulsive," he sobbed loudly.

Tian hugged him from the side. "it's all over now. We won,"

His sobbing only became louder. "At what cost…"

They won the battle but... they were not able to protect all the soldiers. Almost hundreds of the soldiers lost their lives to the zombie tide led by Liwei leaving their families distraught.

"I never should have brought them along with us. They should have been in the prison base safe…. Why did I do that…" Yue sobbed.

Tian gently patted his back wordlessly. The soldiers chose to follow them for the safety of their families. And they lost their lives to protect their family.

They did not leave the spot immediately. The families all gathered together to hold a funeral for the brave soldiers who lost their lives. Their bodies could not be salvaged, but their ashes were still left behind on the soil.

Solemnly they stood by watching the grieving family.

Yue blankly walked into the crater and gazed at the human-shaped shadow of soot left behind on the ground.

Squatting down, he gently touched the warm ashes.

'Uncle Wen…'

The kind, middle-aged man's face flashed in front of his eyes. This man was their biological father, but never once had he had the chance to call him father.

Tearing up, he pulled up a fist of his ash. "Dad… I'm sorry… I'm sorry I never called you so. I'm sorry… I... I really love you,"

"I do too old man," Qian, who had crept up from behind was sobbing loudly. "Fuck I'm going to miss your whiny ass… why did you have to die so quickly… you didn't even see me get married you, old man," he fell to his knees sobbing like a child.

Yue hugged him tightly. It was a bittersweet goodbye.

The whole night the funeral progression happened and by the time they left, the sun was beginning to rise on the horizon

Looking at the orange glow, Yue's mouth raised up slightly. "Today is a new day. And we have survived. We will continue to do so for a very long time,"

Fan hugged him from behind. "Yes, we will..."

the group was exhausted, so they set up a camp to energize themselves. The family members who lost their men were all distraught.

Evening came, yet the group still did not regain its vigor. Everyone was lifeless like paper dolls.

hopeless….

After witnessing the battle, the people had a wakeup call. maybe their human race will come to an end. struggling seemed useless.

Hearing such murmurs Yue tightly gripped Fan's hand. "Let's go in," he didn't want to listen to such negative things. they just survived a huge ordeal and they deserved to have hope.

As they walked up to their tent Prisitsky bound out of his tent with an unusual grin on his face. he ran to them and grabbed Yue by his shoulders. "You! get in," he dragged him in.

Fan followed behind him with a frown. "Stop manhandling him," he pulled his husband out of the crazy scientist's clutches. "What is it?"

"Soon we will be able to regain our world back for those undead clutches," Prisitsky added with a crazy grin.

Yue and Fan gazed at him questionably. "Do you suggest we roam around hunting zombies? that could work. but we might have to go around the world. food is scarce and…."

"NO! I'm saying we might have a chance to make a cure." Prisitsky held up a huge opal-like crystal.

This was the zombie crystal in Liwei's brain.

"This is the purest form of the mutated zombie virus I have seen and when I introduced it to infected human cells it was able to regenerate the cells killing the zombie virus completely. This thing can make us immune. Who would have known the solution to zombies was always in them," He held up the huge fist-sized crystal up the light.

The crystal shone bright orange with hints of green and red.

"that's amazing!" Yue hugged Fan tightly.

"But there is one small issue," Prisitsky whispered with a frown.

Both of them froze. "What?"

"We might need a lot of high-level zombie crystals to synthesize enough antigens for everyone."

Yue and Fan gazed at each other. "We might really have to hunt down zombies."

Fan chuckled. "Hmm… let's travel far and kill as many as we can. Bring the crystals back,"

Laughing, they both hugged each other. "We will live on," chuckling Yue dragged him out and started to dance around. "We found it! we found the cure!!!!"

"We are saved!!!!!"

Just this single sentence uplifted the negative veil that had fallen upon them. Everyone started to cheer and dance around.

Little Chen watched his fathers dancing with a small smile. He held up baby Zara close. "This is how love is supposed to look like. In the future, if you find someone you like you better introduce him to me. I'll have to approve of the match before you get married, you hear me."

Little Zara giggled, pulling at his hair.

"Ouch, don't retaliate against me. I'm talking about the future, okay."

Zou Nui and Zou Wei hugged the two kids close. "The biggest obstacle you guys will have is your daddy Fan. I'm pretty sure he is going to menacingly growl at everyone who even tries to get close to you guys,"

"Grandpa Wei, that's not true Daddy loves me. And he will love whoever I love,"

Tian joined in the chat. "I'm pretty sure you guys' lovers are going to be chased around the town with a broom,"

Chen pouted. "Not true." he started to tear up.

"Enough, don't make the child cry," Juda punched Tian's arms. "They can love whoever they want. because love can really win against anything."

The happy family watched the young men twirling around and chuckling with a bright smile.

Their futures were unknown, but with them all together they will overcome all adversaries.
