Chapter 382 - 382 - Control
Fan held back Yue but no one held back Tian. She rushed to the tree trying to grab a hold of the roots and rip it out.
"Tian you idiot! Het back here," Yue rushed to her but Fan still held him back.
"Stay here I'll get her," Fan created a sword out of ice and slashed it as it waved its branches.
Nothing could cut through it. the branches were literally like steel. Even Tian's fire did nothing to it.
They watched in horror as the tree grabbed a hold of Tian and envelop her.
"NO!!!!!!!" Yue dashed to it and punched the tree's trunk as hard as he could. It slightly cracked but regardless, it did not look affected one bit.
Fan did not stop him he joined in trying to pry open the branches.
"STOP!!!!" a loud cry came from behind them.
the tree froze up. its wavering branches slightly trembled.
"ENOUGH!!!!" Prisitsky rushed to them, panting loudly. "PUT THEM DOWN!"
Weirdly, the tree listened to him and let go of all of them. Tian hurriedly pulled the little zombie girl close and rushed, back. Fan did the same with Yue. They all vigilantly glanced at the tree and then at Prisitsky who was huffing and puffing.
"Fuck why did you guys do this without calling me. This is my research subject. how can you guys steal it ah." Prisitsky slightly glared at him.
"We were only testing out a theory.
"Theory my ass, you all would have been husk if I didn't come here," he plopped down on the ground panting loudly. "This tree... its not like any mutated animal you guys see. It's very hard to control. Its wise that we do not add this to our base" he said wiping his sweat.
Tian peered at the plant peculiarly. "But it seems to listen to you,"
"Huh?" Prisitsky gazed her way with his mouth wide open breathing loudly.
"I said it listens to you,"
He looked at the tree frowning. "Ah it must have gotten startled by my shout and let you guys go."
"That thing? Startled?" Tian scoffed. "It was unfazed even when I was trying to burn it. How can it get scared? it's obviously listening to you"
"But I shouted..." Yue looked at it the tree and then a Prisitsky. The scientist's veins were moving slightly under his thin skin. weirdly the small plant shivered and hunched down like a obedient child. "it's a child,"
Everyone looked his way.
"it's the child plant. Prisitsky this is the child plant to your tree. That's why its listening to you!"
Prisitsky rolled his eyes. "Are you guys listening to yourself. this thing is not a plant. It's a monster. How can it have children-mother "Please I am a scientist I've seen a lot of plants. they do not have such a relationship. But if I think about it some plans do things relationships and shit? It's not possible," he adjusted his glasses over his nose bridge.
"I think Yue is right." Fan said pulling his husband close.
"Please I am a scientist I've seen a lot of plants. they do not have such a relationship. But if I think about it some plans do things differently. oak plants try to nurture their young by sharing their nutrient. It's not the case here. These plants are individual and don't share a root system. Why…." He frowned at the plant. "You. Pick up that stick," he pointed to the dead branch close to it.
The plant obediently picked up the branch and held it close to him.
Prisitsky took the stick.
The young plant seems to be happily waving its branches around,
"Interesting, break your branches," he said softly.
The plant without a second hesitation broke its branches. But after doing so a few more branches grew in its place.
Like a kid asking for their parent's praise, the plant waved around happily towards Prisitsky.
"Hmm… looks like you're right," he looked at Yue in surprise. "I wonder how much I can control this thing," he moved close.
Fan grabbed him by his back collar and dragged him back.
the plant immediately went vigilante and started to attack Fan.
"No! They are friends, not food!" Prisitsky swatted the branch away.
Like a punished child, the branches curled up on itself.
"These guys are my friend. You must not attack them. If you even touch a hair on their head, I will uproot you chop you alive, and burn you to heat my meals."
The tree trembled viably.
"Wow this is kind of awesome," Yue tugged at Fan's sleeves.
"Yes, with him we might have control to these plants."
"But I'm not sure he can control too many. What if it grows up and tries to hurt us." Tian said in a warning tone.
"We have no clue what will happen in the future." Yue sighed.
Prisitsky who was listening to all this gazed back with his brows raised. "I'll subject it to testing. I'll see if it's a good addition to our base or not. If I can control them well plant a few more around our base. It can stop intruders and zombies from getting close." He gently patted the plant's trunk.
The tree wigged around cutely.
"What are we going to do about 'this' plant? We can't obviously take it with us." Yue looked at it with a frown.
Prisitsky frowned slightly. "Uproot yourself."
The tree froze.
"Can you survive without soil? What am I even asking, you're a zombie-eating plant! You don't need soil ah. Get up, uproot yourself."
To their surprise, they watched the root slowly uproot itself from the sandy soil. Its rot was very small and delicate looking.
'I guess its weakness is its root. If we can destroy it, will it die... now it depends on eating people and zombies to sustain, how can it die from a destroyed root? But it can definitely stun its strength….' He was mentally planning on how to take the tree down if it attacks them again,
"Go to the car and get on top of it," Prisitsky guided the tree to their car.
It got on top gripping the sides of the doors to ground itself.
It happily waved its branches around.
Prissily Prisitsky gazed back. "With this on our car we don't have to worry about zombies rolling up front. It will just eat them all."
