Chapter 381 381 - Sprouted
They searched ahead but they were not able to find another wind mill to stay for the night so they decided to set camp in the desert for the night. The huge snake that was hunted down was going to be their dinner.
"wait lets check it," Fan cut a piece of it and fed it to one of the quails.
"oh my god my mum is going to kill you.,"
"this is the only way we can test it,"
They waited an hour observing the quail.
Chen talked to the quail for a bit. The quail had told them that the meat was tasty.
Even so they waited. When it had no reaction and appeared normal, they started to cook the meat. They had to plainly roast it witha bit of paprika and some spices. Some of I was made into dry meat after removing all the bones.
Yue gazed back at the car where Tian and Juda was in. "I'm glad they are getting married. In my past life I never imagined that I would have a loving family, a husband and children.. its such a wonder." He leaned against his shoulders. "do you think we can find a place to settle down?"
"we can, but we have to get rid of Liwei," Fan said, clutching the gun tightly in his hand. "lets leave our family at a safe spot and find a way to trap him. Without him leading them, the zombies would be headless. We can easily take them all out. At leats that's what the plan is."
Yue hugged his waist tightly. "have you heard form z city before?"
"no, but I know we can settle there. The population was low there to begin with. Its a rural farming village with only thousand or so. if the zombies had moved away well and good. if they hadn't we still have only thousand zombies to deal with. After we settle them all down, well build a iron wall. Reinforce it with my ice ability and leave them behind while we hunt down Liwei,"
Yue gazed up at him with a frown. "how can we deal with him? We are just twenty of us."
"we have the little zombie girl." He stood up. "come I want to test something out," he pulled him up ad took him to the car.
He took out a small bag of thorny seeds.
"hey! What did you just pull out of my bag?!"
"I want to test something," he informed Qian who was sitting in back seat with peng peng.
"take two seeds. We don't have many." Qian agreed instantly.
Fan took out two thorny seeds and left the rest in the car. He then walked up to the little zombie girl who was playing with the cute bunny toy. "can you help me out little one."
She nodded and hugged his leg.
Fan lifted her up and carried her to a corner. Weirdly so Tian followed behind them silently.
"we are not going to hurt her,"
"I know, I just want to know what you guys are up to," she sat beside Yue on the sandy ground while Fan stood in front of them with the little girl.
Fan carefully harvested the seed pod and took out the died seeds. He pocked the rest, leaving only one seed behind.
He slightly scratched the seed up and placed both the seeds close together.
Yue watched with rapt attention. But nothing was happening. "umm Fan."
"that's all I've got," he sighed. "I thought maybe this seed will act as an inhibitor to this one. Guess I was wrong,"
"maybe you're not wrong," Tian shot up and walked up to him. "this lotus seed looks normal until it is combined with our digestive system. Maybe this seed is the same. What if try to swallow it?"
"are you crazy. That could kill you, I don't agree with this," Yue instantly rejected the idea.
"what if I spat on it, ohh what if blood works?" Tian was too invested in the testing.
"it won't work. We just have to give up on…" before he could finish his sentence Tian had cut her finger tip. As single drop of blood felon both the seeds.
instantly, they noticed a reaction.
And dropped them both to the ground.
The spiky seed sprouted with wiggly tentacles like branches and wound itself around the lotus sees. quickly it started to grow up into a human size tree with an arm wide thick branch. Its branched slightly swayed in the wind.
"it… it works! Oh my god! It works!!!" Yue hugged Fan tightly. "you are a genius!!!" and kissed his face hard.
Fan blushed slightly, hugging him close. "the plan is not perfect yet."
"why?" Yue frowned. "we have both the seeds. With these trees as borders, we can keep our base safe from zombies,"
Fan got close to the tree. The branches instantly attacked him trying to capture his leg.
"Fan!"
Fan jumped back out of its range. "it will attack anything that comes close. If we plant these, our plan might back fire. What if one day the trees attack our human base and kill us in our sleep."
Just thinking of that possibility, Yue started to sweat in fear. that was the worst possible outcome. After all, they are planting these trees for security, but if they attack them back they would not have any way to fight them off.
Tian threw a blue fire ball its way.
E tree simple rolled itself up into a small target and when the flame burned off the outer layer, the tree unwound itself and shook off its soot.
"its completely indestructible. What are we going to do?"
Fan threw a ball of lightning at it.
As expected, the tree did not budge.
"well…. We might have to uproot it."
"for that, we have to get close." Yue and the others looked at the tree in contemplation.
While they were deep in thought, the little zombie girl walked up it.
"wait! Step back!" Tian ran to her.
The zombie girl gazed back at them before her whole body was enveloped in the tree's embrace
"fuck!"
