Chapter 430: Love Me Like You Do

"Qingchen?"

"Yeah, baby?"

"The baby…" She didn't need to say anymore.

"They are all fine." He saw the confusion wash over her weary face. "We're having triplets, Qian Meng."

She sucked in a shocked breath before squeezing her eyes shut. "Why can't we do anything normally? Did we really have to be such overachievers?" she asked jokingly.

He sniffed. "Part of why you are sick is because we are having multiples. It's your first pregnancy, too. We will need to take care of you and make sure your morning sickness doesn't hurt your body."

"The doctor explained everything to you?" she asked.

"This morning."

"I missed it?"

"Yes. But they promised to give us the ultrasound photos." He dropped his hand to her stomach. "I already had a goddess guiding my life. Now I have angels, too."

She raised her hand to his cheek and stroked his face.

"How long was I out for?"

"Two nights."

Qian Meng's gaze was apologetic as she met his. "I'm sorry I left you alone to worry all that time. Did you eat properly? Did you sleep?"

He shook his head as he smiled at her. "It doesn't matter. It is over now and you are with me. I will never take this second chance I have with you for granted, Qian Meng."

"Lie down with me," she slurred as sleep called to her.

"I can't." He wanted to plead with her to stay awake, but her head lolled as she lost the battle with sleep. "But I am right here, baby."

Qingchen could guess that Yun Qing Yuan was mad that he missed out on time with his sister before she fell asleep again, but no one dared say anything to him. Qingchen didn't feel bad either.

When the doctor came back with ice chips for Qian Meng, he briefed the family on what to expect out of the next few days and subsequent months. The doctor said that as she recovered and the pregnancy progressed, she would need to be prepared to sleep a lot and that it was normal.

She would take time to regain her energy. But Qingchen knew his wife was above average and would probably be up and about faster than anyone expected.

Qingchen didn't think she would wake up for a while, so he was talking to Li Min and the other associates to handle most of the workload for the rest of her time in the hospital. After she was awake for longer, Qian Meng could decide how she wanted to assign the work.

He was on the phone with Li Min when he realized that she had prepared for every possible circumstance.

"Qian Meng already told you to handle things?" he asked in shock.

"Yes, Boss was prepared since she decided to get pregnant, Mr. Mo. She was cutting down on her workdays to four a week. She already distributed most of her work. If she was unable to oversee the proposals, she trusted me to make the decisions after consulting you."

Qingchen sucked in a deep breath. "Understood. Please carry on with the plan until she is discharged from the hospital at least. You can call me at any time for my opinion."

He hung up the phone and looked at it in absolute silence.

He almost jumped in surprise when her raspy, sleepy voice cut through the silence.

"You found out."

"You're awake," he answered stupidly, blinking at her as he recovered from her jolt of surprise.

"I am."

He frowned. "How long have you been awake?"

"Just a couple of minutes."

"A couple of minutes? Why didn't you say anything?" He looked at her critically.

"I was enjoying watching you."

He caressed her head softly. "How are you feeling?"

"Like I have been shot with a tranquilizer for elephants," she admitted. "I am not sure if it's a good thing or not." She sighed.

"I missed your eyes," he told her unable to look away.

"I missed looking at you, too," she admitted.

"Could you hear me? When you were… asleep?" he asked.

She stared at him for a moment, contemplating her answer. "Sometimes. I could hear you in the background while I struggled to wake up. But I couldn't. I couldn't move or open my eyes. I was sort of aware of the things around me, though. I don't really remember it all now. It is like when you are in a dream and you remember when you start to get up but the more you are awake, the fainter the dream becomes in your head. Does that make sense?"

"Yeah, it does." She gave him a sleepy smile that made him swoon. "So, what did I find out?"

"What?"

"You said I found something out," he repeated.

"Oh, that I now have the foresight to get your help when I know I won't be capable."

He looked at her with confusion before he realized that she had heard the conversation.

"I am not sure why you would give me that responsibility," he said softly.

"That's why I gave it to you. Because you don't want my things but you would take good care of my business like you take care of me," she explained.

"You wanted me to know…" he trailed off. "You wanted me to know that you trust me enough to hand over your company." It was a wondrous moment.

"I needed you to know. Even if something happened and I didn't have the chance to tell you. It has been on my mind for a while."

"Thank you," he responded, squeezing her hand gently. "I will uphold your trust. I know that no one has ever loved another person like you love me."

"Good. That was my purpose."

"I can only give you my journal to show you how I feel. There is nothing else I can do to tell you," he said.

She nodded and licked her lips.

"Do you want some water?" he asked.

"Lie with me." Qingchen smiled but shook his head.

"I can't. I might hurt you. And I have to call your brother. They went down to the cafeteria to get food and I promised to call when you woke up again."

She rolled her eyes. "I don't care," she dismissed quickly. "Lie down with me."
