Chapter 398: Mr. Yun, Trapped Inside His Office

The bodyguard took the wheel and remained silent as he started the engine.

"Ma'am, I need you to wear the seatbelt," he said.

Qian Meng silently did as he asked, knowing this guy was going to give every detail to her overprotective husband. As much as she needed to be on guard, the babying was a little much.

She found it amusing at most times, but on others, it was mildly annoying.

In this case, it was funny.

They were on the road for quite a while when Qian Meng looked up from her laptop. She looked around, frowning at where she was.

"Is this a shortcut?" she asked casually.

The bodyguard pressed his lips together. "There is traffic on the main road today. We will reach the office on time," he said calmly.

Qian Meng looked at the map in the front and eyed the bodyguard. She also noticed that the speed of the car was higher.

She put her laptop aside and watched the man's motions curiously, finally realizing that he kept looking at the mirror.

She cleared her throat to catch her attention. "Do you suspect someone of following us?" she asked without hesitation.

The bodyguard remained stoic, unalarmed by her catching up.

His work was to keep her mind at peace and take care of threats she didn't know of. But if she did find out, he had to explain to her and let her know that she was safe with him.

"Yes, Ma'am," he responded.

"Which one?" she asked.

"The black car four cars down," he told her.

She discreetly looked in its direction and pulled up her phone to take a selfie. With her husband being nuts for good camera specifications, it was no problem for her to get the picture of the license plate, unblurred.

She zoomed in and looked at the picture.

"I already took the license plate numbers. Could be fake, but it's better to have it."

The bodyguard discreetly thanked her even though he had memorized it already.

"Don't worry about losing the tail. Just drive normally to the office. This car is going to follow us around all day, so don't be too bothered," she told the bodyguard.

He looked up. "Is there something I should know about?"

Qian Meng smiled. "I think my father sent this person. I can't be sure, but it should be," she shrugged.

The bodyguard, obviously, couldn't take that as an answer. Despite giving his verbal agreement, he went his way.

Not once did he move in a way that would make the person in the other car suspect that he had been caught.

In the privacy of her office, Qian Meng watched as the price of shares plummeted. She had pulled out of her smaller investments to have enough money to buy up as many shares as possible. And as she had expected, there was a massive drop in the price of shares.

Qian Meng knew that this was when traders and investors grew fearful and sold off their stake in the company. So, she waited patiently, placing orders.

Li Min entered her office around eleven that morning.

"Boss, I bring news," she said.

Qian Meng smiled. "Good news or bad news?" she asked. She looked at the clock. "I need to leave for lunch with Li Wenyue, too. I need the accurate information and plans in place before that," she told quickly.

"Apart from plummeting stock prices, there is an uprising from within the company," Li Min said with a smile.

"Non-violent, I hope?" she asked. She crossed her fingers and hoped that was the case.

"Non-violent. It's a sit-in protest asking the higher-ups to come clean about the rumors. The employees and contractors are scared that they will lose their livelihoods so they have surrounded the offices of the executives."

"Is Mr. Yun part of that group?" Qian Meng asked with delight.

Li Min nodded enthusiastically. "It's been about an hour since he reached office. He has been in his room. It is surrounded by employees."

She turned her cellphone to show Qian Meng the picture of the scene. The employees sat on the carpeted floors outside her father's office.

"Good thing my father has a bathroom inside his office. Otherwise, his bladder wouldn't have allowed him anything," she smirked.

Li Min nodded. "It's nearing lunch hour. We will find out about his condition by then."

Qian Meng planned. "Change of plans. After meeting Li Wenyue, I will go and meet Qing Yuan. Get him on call and see what his schedule looks like, will you?" Qian Meng asked apologetically.

"Getting on it."

Li Min left the room, leaving Qian Meng to her work.

She suddenly remembered the bodyguard and looked up. "Ah, we have to change plans, I will tell you accordingly, okay?" she told him.

And then she went back to work.

Qian Meng received the phone call earlier than she had anticipated. It was Qing Yuan.

"Hey," she stumbled over the words as she looked over a marketing report.

"Sis, I am not free today. But tell me what the matter is," he asked without hesitation.

"It's nothing major. I was just going to talk to you to lobby you onto my side," she claimed peacefully. She didn't need to beat around the bush in this case.

"You don't need to lobby me. I can see as everything plays out," he replied. Qian Meng heard the sadness in his voice.

"Are you okay?" she couldn't help but ask.

He huffed deeply. "I am okay but I am worried about our parents," he said truthfully. "I know you don't like either of them… but… they haven't treated me poorly."

Qian Meng almost smiled. "Qing Yuan, I am not asking you to stab them in the back," she explained softly. "I am lobbying for you to be on my side because I care about our family name and the thousands of employees and contractors Yun Corporation employs. All their livelihoods are in danger."
