Chapter 202: Memories of a Murder Part 1

Bai Ye Qing screamed in frustration. "You can't do one thing right! Did you even see the will I sent you? See what it says, you moron," he hissed.

Jiang Hanyu gasped. "The will?" he stuttered. "Cousin!"

"Shut up and look through it."

Jiang Hanyu braced his heart and read through it. "I am not good with wills but everything will go to your mother and you after Uncle Bai passes away. It's equal share."

As he expected. "Good. Don't run your mouth, understood?" he gritted through his teeth. He hung up the phone and sighed.

Okay, there seemed to be only one way. This Jiang Hanyu was a chicken and he would never rat on Bai Ye Qing. Since young, he had blindly followed Bai Ye Qing. The only difference was, he was a good student. Top of his class and all that jazz, so he did some good and got into a big company.

Bai Ye Qing plopped down on the bed and thought about what he would do.

Last time, there had been a little hitch with the plan and he hadn't completed it perfectly, but this time, he had to do it properly.

He remembered the conversation with his brother that led to it, he did so perfectly. How could he not? The thorn in his eye had held back no punches to reprimand him.

"Did you take money from the shareholders to push contracts?" Bai Wenxi asked. He had called Bai Ye Qing into his office and closed the blinders so that no one could see what was happening.

"Bro, what do you mean?" Bai Ye Qing asked, his perfect little brother fa?ade in place.

"Ye Qing, I don't know if you don't understand or you are pretending, but it is not legal to take bribes when you are in a position of authority in the company," Wenxi explained.

"Bro, I really didn't take anything from anyone. Why would you say that?" he whispered.

Wenxi shook his head. "People are complaining about you. Marketing and Sales team 1 is bothered by your conduct."

Stupid employees, they didn't know when to keep their mouths shut. Bai Ye Qing's jaw clicked.

"I didn't put pressure on them, I swear!" he said.

Wenxi nodded. "You might not think it is pressure, but they are regular employees. You are the Chairman's son and my brother. We have absolute power in the company. There is nothing wrong with what you do in everyone's eyes. So, they could only come to me to report."

He was silent.

Bai Ye Qing could see that his brother was angry but holding back harsher words on his account. He knew the reputation his brother had. Wenxi was everything that he wasn't. He was hard on the employees but fair. He didn't punish or reward differently.

If he were a king in ancient times, the people would praise him for being a good ruler.

"I really didn't…" Bai Ye Qing whispered.

"I will have to reprimand you for this. It's a good thing that the contracts have not gone through yet. I will talk to the shareholders and make them back off." He stared at Bai Ye Qing. "As for you. You will be suspended for taking bribes without leave. This month's salary will also be deducted from your account. I will let the accounts department know." Wenxi didn't even blink at the punishment.

"If you suspend me, everyone will know. Please!" Bai Ye Qing pleaded. Those people from marketing and sales team 1 would know exactly what got him suspended and the gossip would spread. He would have no pride to speak of after that. And the salary cut? He couldn't afford it.

He still had to pay off that dreaded man from the casino. Moreover, the shareholders… there were bound contracts he had signed for that. If he went back on his words, there would be no way they would back him afterward. He would have to stand back and watch as his father gave everything to his elder brother.

"No!" Bai Ye Qing said again. "Brother. I will tell the shareholders off. I will give back the money they gave me. It wasn't a bribe, I promise!"

He would do everything in his power to make sure he wasn't discredited.

"You think those old men will let you off?" Wenxi asked. "You've just joined the workforce and you already did a mistake of this magnitude." Wenxi's anger was slowly revealing itself. He was clearly pissed and he didn't want to shout at his brother.

"I—I…" Bai Ye Qing trailed off, not knowing what to say in the situation.

"Go home," Wenxi ordered. "Your suspension letter will be processed by HR," he said.

Ye Qing stared at his brother for a minute. "Is there anything I can do to…"

"No," Wenxi said immediately. "I am already going against my morals to only suspend you. Ideally, I would have to terminate your employment and call the police. Do you understand?" he said.

Bai Ye Qing couldn't nod. "Then why didn't you?" he challenged.

Wenxi's eyes widened. "You…" he trailed off. "I don't want mother and father to know. Especially mother, she has been happy recently because you are busy with work. But if you… if you get caught for this…" Wenxi shook his head.

'Forever the filial son,' Bai Ye Qing cursed in his thoughts.

"You're such a good son," he found himself saying. "I'll see myself out," he said quickly and stood up.

Wenxi's phone rang and he picked it up. "Yes, Chairman," he said immediately. "Yes, I will be there immediately."

Wenxi eyed Bai Ye Qing. When he hung up, he looked at Bai Ye Qing with a question. "Why are you standing there? I have a meeting to attend, work until the end of the day, and don't come to work tomorrow, understood?" he said. "Apply for an extended sick leave. I will approve it."

Bai Wenxi took his jacket over his arm and went out of the room after seeing him off.
