Chapter 132: Hold Hands and Sing

Qian Meng's phone rang and she looked at the screen. She didn't feel the smile on her lips but Bai Yu saw it clearly.

She picked it up. "Hey," she said quickly.

Her voice softened and Mr. Bai placed a hand over his mouth so she couldn't see him chuckling.

"Hey, are you in your office still? Done with your meeting?" Mo Qingchen asked from the other side.

"I am in a personal meeting. Why?" she asked, confused. "When are you sending the agreement over?"

"I am coming out of my office building right now. I should arrive in a few minutes," he announced.

"You're coming yourself?" Qian Meng asked, her voice rising in surprise.

"Yes. If it's a personal meeting, it won't matter if I intruded. Who is it, though?" he asked. She could hear the curiosity in his voice.

"It's Mr. Bai," she said in a low voice.

"Your ex-fiancé's father? Are you holding hands and singing about a relationship lost?" he made the biting remark.

"No. Shut up and get here quickly," she commanded. She hung up the phone without another word and turned to Mr. Bai with a apologetic smile.

"Am I intruding by staying longer?" Bai Yu commented.

"No, no! It's just…" she started to laugh.

"The guy must be handsome," he teased. Qian Meng felt her jaw drop. "Your voice changed when you picked up the phone." He burst into laughter at her expression.

Qian Meng felt a blush rising up her cheeks. She was unabashed in most things but having an elder tease was a new experience.

Mo Qingchen was going to walk across the street to Qian Meng's office building.

'How does one dress to go see their fiancé at work? Is Yun Qian Meng even officially my fiancé?' He looked down at his clothes and couldn't help but frown.

He had thrown on some jeans with a band t-shirt. It was slightly nicer than he usually wore to the office. His hair was messy and he probably looked a little sick.

The inside of the building was fancy. It had fancy tiles, decoration, and extremely well-dressed employees walking around. Mo Qingchen knew which floor her office was located on but the receptionist looked at him with alarm, making him pause.

"Hi, can I help you?" she asked with a sickening fake smile, looking up from her computer as Mo Qingchen approached.

"Yes, I am here to see Yun Qian Meng," he stated.

"Do you have an appointment with her?" she asked.

"No, but she asked me to go up to her office. I'm Mo Qingchen," he stated.

"Oh! Certainly. You can go straight to the elevator. Get out on her floor and go right down the hall," she said, pointing towards the direction of the elevator. "Keep going until you have to make a right and then there will be a huge door glass door at the end of the hallway. Go through it and you should be in a small room with two doors off of it. Miss Li, the executive secretary's desk is there and she will inform Miss Yun that you're here and then direct you from there."

Mo Qingchen frowned.

'What is this, an obstacle course? Do I get a shiny gold ring to deliver and a hobbit to accompany me on my journey?'

"Thank you," he replied gruffly.

Mo Qingchen followed her directions and made his way to the see-through door that took her into a tiny room. There were five chairs lined up against the wall and a sizeable desk.

"Hello, what can I do for you?" the secretary asked him as she slowly raised her head. She paused when she saw his face and stood up abruptly.

"I'm here to see Yun Qian Meng," he announced.

"Mr. Mo. I'll inform her right now." Li Min smiled at him and then picked up her phone and pressed one of the numbers and then waited.

"Boss, I have Mr. Mo waiting here to see you… okay, certainly," she replied after a quick pause.

She hung up the phone and then looked back up at Mo Qingchen.

"Miss Yun's office is right through that door," she said, pointing to the door on her right.

"Thank you," he mumbled as he walked over to it.

He considered knocking but he had already informed two people that she was here, so he just walked right in and closed the door behind him.

Yun Qian Meng was sitting on the sofa in front of a table. On the other side was Bai Yu, Bai Ye Qing's father. The other man stared right back at him.

The office had a breathtaking view of the city through a large full-length window beside her desk, he also had a clear view of his own office building. Other than that, the office was rather boring.

"Mo Qingchen! You found the office without a hitch, I see," she said with a greeting.

"Hello," he said in his proper business voice, which was really just a mockery of her friendly tone. His eyes flickered to Mr. Bai.

"Come sit," she urged, pointing to the seat beside her. Mo Qingchen walked over and sat down before placing the file beside him.

"Mr. Mo, I am Bai Yu," the older man introduced himself. Mo Qingchen appraised him from head to toe and then frowned. He wasn't like the flamboyant son of his, so Mo Qingchen didn't know what to think.

"Yes, I know you," Mo Qingchen retorted without much emotion. He was gauging if this man was trustworthy.

"Did you bring it?" Qian Meng interrupted the awkward conversation. Mo Qingchen nodded and handed the file over to her. She looked over it while Mo Qingchen stared at the chess game playing out in front of him.

"Mind if I play on your behalf?" he asked.

Qian Meng shot him a look. "I'm losing miserably. Go ahead," she said. The expression in her eyes showed that she wanted him to continue in that streak. He sat down beside her and then pushed her to the side with his body so that he was comfortable.
