Chapter 232 - Punish tonight
Xiu Mei immediately went home after getting permission from her doctor. Besides, Dr.Lee mentioned that the fact that she overcame the rock in her heart, aside from treating her PTSD, she shouldn’t have any more problems at all. So after dropping by to check on her eldest brother, she obediently went home under Lu Chen’s insistence.
The dream she had when she fainted was thrown at the back of her mind, treating it as if it was probably just some random illusion she created due to her current predicament of mental instability.
Her heart and mind felt lighter than she ever felt for so long, so she couldn’t help but agree that Dr.Lee was right. She was finally, really, showing the signs of getting better.
Xiu Mei couldn’t help but laugh at the banter of father and son on the dining table, as Lu Qiang declared that he would sleep with her today. Of course, Lu Chen wouldn’t let his son snatch his wife under his eyes. So he gave him his own assignments, so Lu Qiang wouldn’t have time to cling to Xiu Mei at night.
Lu Qiang caught on with his father’s plan and immediately complained. So right now, Xiu Mei was being the audience just having fun watching the duo in the midst of a war for her.
Her heart was filled with warmth, and at the back of her mind, maybe she shouldn’t have moved out from her home. If she didn’t move out, maybe it was this warmth that would probably have helped her to recover faster.
Before her thoughts take a turn into the self-pity road, she quickly refocused her thoughts onto other things.
Maybe because of all the things that happened recently, Xiu Mei felt like her emotions have been all over the place.
Thank God she can finally return to her post and distract herself with work.
As for Lu Chen and Lu Qiang’s war? In the end, she slept in Lu Qiang’s room to pacify her son since he declared that he won’t go to school if his mom doesn’t stay with him tonight.
...He’s really his father’s son ah. Is this an early sign of Lu Qiang’s domineering side?
The next day, after preparing Lu Qiang’s lunch she quickly changed into a proper attire for work. Seeing herself in the mirror, she felt oddly satisfied.
"Don’t tire yourself out too much." Lu Chen suddenly appeared and sn.a.k.e.d his arm around her shoulders. Pressing a kiss on her temple, he looked at her through their reflection in the mirror.
"I know."
She quickly lied since she knew that she won’t be able to stand letting her assistant and Lu Shao keep doing her own workload by themselves.
"Wife, I know you too well. You’re probably gonna be too focused on catching up with your work today."
Xiu Mei slightly froze before flashing a sheepish smile. Scratching her cheek, she replied.
"I mean..."
Before she could finish her words, she felt something warm in her ear.
"!"
Xiu Mei instantly became fl.u.s.tered after realizing that Lu Chen nibbled on her ears. But his words made her redden even further.
"If wife is not going to listen, then husband can only punish later." Lu Chen whispered with his husky and deep voice. Before she could even hit him in frustration, he quickly let her go and ran out of the room.
This guy!!!!! ROGUE!!!
And so, Xiu Mei glared and ignored Lu Chen for most of the time until they arrived at Lu Corporation. Because there was so much work awaiting, Lu Shao and her assistant couldn’t find any time to celebrate her recovery but they did leave their gifts on her table along with her favorite tea and desserts. Strictly following the boss’ instructions, Lu Shao didn’t hand over too much work to Xiu Mei this time.
She quickly got absorbed into her work, until she was called out by Lu Chen for lunch. She didn’t stay too long and returned to working again right after making Lu Chen sigh.
He was tempted to ask soon in baidu. How to stop your wife from working too much?
He sighed again. Forget it. It’s not like he even has the right to convince her to don’t push herself too hard. How can the workaholic president and husband convince her ah?
He shook his head in surrender as Lu Chen shifted his thoughts on how he was going to punish her tonight instead. A smile crept on his face while nodding. Yes, if he couldn’t convince her, then he can just punish her. Isn’t that right?
Meanwhile, the innocent Xiu Mei who didn’t know of her upcoming fate went to several floors for work.
"Oh my, Ms.Xiu you’re finally back!"
"I thought you’d gone and was preparing to become a housewife lady boss ah!"
"I can finally be free from reporting to the emperor!!"
Xiu Mei laughed at the complaints of her colleagues as she dropped by to the different departments. It was this kind of atmosphere that she terribly missed when she had to stay at home, even if she was always loaded with work every day.
Out of consideration for Xiu Mei’s health, Lu Chen had everyone dismissed by exactly 5 o’clock which was quite the record given that going home on the dot wasn’t very common for such a busy company especially in their busiest time of the year.
So Xiu Mei found herself being stared at by her colleagues as if she was some kind of god they want to worship when she bumped into them on the ground floor when she went to pick up something from the reception area.
"Hail, lady boss!"
"Ms.Xiu, please stay forever with the president!"
"Shouldn’t we call her the empress now?"
"I offer thy sweets for your merciful blessings!"
