Chapter 99: Arrogant Asirante

A little later other long-rooted tree monsters began to attack me in my new place.

But their attacks were in vain.

“Wow!”

Of course, I expected this would happen, but it still was really eye-opening when I actually used Blink without cooldown and witnessed its power.

At this moment, something came to my mind immediately.

I pulled out a +3 enhancement strong long sword and opened my mouth quietly.

“Ice Weapon.”

[You have used level 3 Ice Weapon.

-The energy of cold ice is present on the equipped +3 enhancement strong long sword.]

Of course, I am a wizard, or more precisely, an ice-type wizard.

In other words, I’m supposed to be good at AOE skills.

That was why I didn’t use my level 3 Ice Weapon skill often even though I could use it as a companion to the Ice Emperor’s Guardian Sword in the future.

And I didn’t even have to use Ice Weapon to hunt.

Of course, this didn’t mean that I didn’t have any experience in using it. So I grabbed the +3 enhancement strong long sword augmented with level 3 Ice Weapon in my right hand and moved to the right side of the long-rooted tree by using Blink.

Puck!

I attacked the monster just once, then stepped back using Blink.

After that, I repeated such attacks with Blink.

At first, it felt a little awkward to use because I had never attacked in melee range in all the games I had played.

Even if I had prior experience with melee combat, I would still have felt it to be very awkward to use Blink without any cooldown.

Anyway, as I got used to attacking in melee range, I did it more skillfully in my own way.

Of course, I also got used to using Blink.

Puck! Puck! Puck! Puck!

Gradually, I attacked the trunk of the long-rooted tree faster than before, then stepped back.

Of course, I made sure that there was a thin layer of ice around the trunk of the long-rooted tree as if it were frosted. In other words, I caused frostbite damage to the monster right away.

When exposed to my additional attacks, the long-rooted tree monster collapsed despite its tremendous defense.

“Wow, this works for me…”

I once saw a fight between superhumans in a manga.

One of them had the ability to teleport instantly, and his opponent died without knowing where he was attacked from.

So, I was now imitating the superman in the manga.

While imitating him, I could reap a small harvest, which was frostbite damage.

Basically, I possessed the passive skill called Minor Frostbite Occurrence.

That was why I sometimes inflicted the frostbite debuff on my opponent with Pouring Hailstone, Ice Ball, or Ice Bolt. But the more obvious way to cause harsh frostbite was to attack the opponent directly using Ice Weapon since my Iceman trait stated there was a high probability of inflicting frostbite when using Ice Weapon.

Moreover, the Ice Emperor’s guardian sword also had a 20% chance of causing frostbite if I used it directly to damage the opponent.

I felt that if I faced a more powerful enemy than I expected in the future, I could use Blink first to inflict the frostbite debuff on him like now, then step back and mount various magical attacks. This was, I could deal with the enemy more easily than I thought.

That was why speed was very important in any type of fight.

The reason why I insisted on being an ice-type wizard, and not a fire-type or lightning-type wizard was because I wanted to maintain control over my movement by myself.

Anyway, unlike my initial plan to simply test Blink which now had no cooldown, I was absorbed into hunting before I knew it. Of course, I was using Blink non-stop while hunting. It was fun, to say the least.

Of course, I did not hunt only by using Ice Weapon because even if I wore the Ice Emperor’s guardian sword, I was still an ice-type wizard who favored AOE skills.

That night, I received a phone call from my sister. She asked me to join the dinner meeting tomorrow.

“Do I have to attend?”

“Yeah. Mirae, Daesung, and Kusan have invited us to attend the get-together, so if we Myongjin people don’t attend, they might be suspicious about us because a great guy named Asirante has appeared in our country now.”

“But why is Daeyu missing from the meeting?”

At first, both Mirae and Daeyu were excluded, but now Mirae was included while Daeyu was still dropped.

I could understand why Daeyu was dropped because it is widely known that Daeyu has been taken over by the Chinese Group Yanghwa.

“You know Daeyu is done.”

“Got it. Let me attend it then.”

“Then, come home early tomorrow. I want to hear your story.”

“Okay.”

I ended the call, then immediately accessed the game.

Originally, I was going to test the effect of Blink with no cooldown for one hour, but it was more fun than I thought. So, I skipped lunch and kept hunting until it got dark.

Anyway, the place where I logged out last time was the Teleport Zone of Perrero Castle.

When I reached it, I opened my mouth and moved to my new hunting ground.

“Move to the Poisonous Insect Zone.”

[You have been moved to the Poisonous Insect Zone.]

It was very noisy with people around.

I wouldn’t say it was crowded with lots of people.

However, this place was supposed to be empty like the abandoned field of trees.

This hunting ground was not that difficult for those who were level 500, but as the name suggested, the monsters in this place were rather burdensome to deal with.

Nonetheless, there were quite a lot of people here.

But it was very clear that they were not here for hunting.

And I could confirm it from hearing their conversation.

“Is that guy named Asirante in this place?”

“Who knows? But you should know that the hunting ground where he revealed himself was the abandoned field of trees that everybody avoided. Moreover, if he hunted alone in the level 400 hunting ground when he didn’t even reach level 300, doesn’t that mean he can come to this level 500 hunting ground since he has reached level 300?”

“You’re right. He only looks for the unpopular hunting grounds on purpose. Also, do you think he cares at all about the monsters when he is so powerful? He would rather hunt freely in a place with few people. Considering that, I think this Poisonous Insect Zone could be one of his hunting grounds.”

“Damn it! It looks like all sorts of men are gathered here.”

“Hey. I see the guys from Mirae and Daesung over there! They are not just common people.”

“Bullshit! Our guild leader wants us to stop hunting and look for Asirante. He told us that if we catch him, we will hit the jackpot.”

“I agree!”

“But they couldn’t find Asirante in the abandoned field of trees.”

“Yeah, that’s what I heard. They couldn’t find him there.”

“Shit, where is he now? Since he rejected my friend request, I have no way to find him.”

“That’s why we are doing all the strenuous legwork now.”

Actually, I had received too many friend requests after my ID Asirante was widely known after my boss monster raid with the Sungchang Guild. But I refused all the requests.

Of course, I added a guy named Dukgu, the leader of Sungchang’s 2nd boss monster raid team, to my friend list, so he frequently sent me a message inquiring after me.

However, I deliberately ignored his message, which made him nervous.

But I didn’t know he had dispatched his members to an unpopular hunting ground like this to search for me.

Anyway, I tried moving to other hunting grounds like the Poisonous Insect Zone that I had in mind.

But I found something strange everywhere.

‘Man, there is no hunting ground without users.’

Wherever I went, there were a lot of people walking around with their eyes wide open.

Of course, there were several empty hunting grounds belonging to Myongjin.

I could hunt there freely, but there was one caveat. So, I was agonizing over it.

‘Is there any reason for me to avoid it?’

I had already disclosed my ID Asirante, and let them film me by using the Memory Bead.

In other words, I had already revealed myself openly, so it was rather contradictory for me to hide myself now.

“Move to the Poisonous Insect Zone.”

[You have been moved to the Poisonous Insect Zone.]

So, I moved to the Poisonous Insect Zone wearing a tight robe and a mask.

Tramp, tramp.

I slowly walked out of the teleport zone in the Poisonous Insect Zone and passed by the bystanders.

When I headed toward the hunting ground, their wide open eyes gradually turned towards me. Then, when one of them shouted, all of them rushed to me.

“He is Asirante!”

“Asirante! Please give me a moment!”

“Hello, Asirante! I am Jungki Lee, the leader of the Youngsan Guild! I want to talk with you for a moment.”

“Asirante, please look at me!”

“We are from the Mirae Group. Can you spare some time for us?”

Right now I was as popular as a celebrity, but I didn’t act conceited.

So, I opened my mouth, trying to be as expressionless as possible.

“Too many people are gathered here. I’m going to hunt for five hours exactly. So, I want to meet only five people here after five hours.”

I decided to be as arrogant as possible while I was posing as Asirante, because if I acted hesitantly when I was so capable, it would only backfire. Besides, there were people from Mirae and Daesung here.

But I thought it was natural that a person with an arrogant personality would act like this.

“Can you move out of my way?”

Their turmoil continued, but they soon calmed down.

The Mirae and Daesung people were not stupid. Some of the others pointed their fingers at them, but I didn’t care because it was none of my business.

Then I passed through the horde of people and moved into the Poisonous Insect Zone, leaving the noisy crowds behind.
