Chapter 262: Boss Monster Raid (1)

Inside the level 1300 crocodile hunting ground.

Sheeeeeeeeeeeek! Puck!

Thud!

“Argh!”

In general, the larger a monster, the slower it was.

However, the boss monster’s thick and hard tail moved so quickly it was beyond common sense.

Of course, I could destroy the monster’s mighty tail using Blink with zero cooldown.

Blink with cooldown zero was not just beyond common sense; it nullified common sense itself.

But behind me were the Mirae and Tugal guild players. It would be nothing but wishful thinking to expect them to keep my use of Blink with zero cooldown secret. It was the same even if only the Myongjin players were together with me here. As long as they were not my family members, it would be hard for me to expect them to keep it secret even if they were part of the Myongjin Guild. Besides, the one who gives opportunities for a person to leak out information is more foolish than the one who actually leaks it out.

Anyway, I stopped thinking there, then raised my body after I was humiliatingly thrown back by the boss monster’s tail attack.

“Pouring Hail! Multiple Ice Arrow!”

Pitter-patter! Pitter-patter!

Puck! Puck! Puck!

Obviously, I was an ice-type wizard which was famous for its ranged attacks. But contrary to the typical attacking method of a ranged attacker, I tended to penetrate into the monsters while hunting.

That was the case when I attacked not only the crocodiles but also the cunning vampires previously.

And the reason was that I could hunt monsters faster. More crucially, I could endure their counterattack without suffering much damage.

So, despite the fact that I could attack from a distance using my specialty as a ranged attacker instead of charging in, I attacked the boss monster as I normally did. Because of that, I was hit by the boss monster unnecessarily.

Of course, the boss monster charged at me right away as if he belittled my attacks from a long distance. but I wasn’t startled by such a situation because I didn’t intend to bring about any tangible fruits when I just began to attack the boss monster in the level 1300 hunting ground.

And although it was unintentional, I found my agility improved a lot recently.

When the retention time of the Constellation Hunter’s badge expired, all stats including Agility increased by 600 only five days after I reached level 1000.

Moreover, as the Ice Emperor’s guardian sword increased from +5 Enhancement to +6, the Agility bonus it provided also increased.

Of course, compared with my Intellect, Stamina and Willpower, such an increase was not worth mentioning, but it was still far from low.

So, I could still attack the boss monster regularly, albeit not for a very long time.

“Ice Storm! Ice Spear!”

Puck! Puck! Puck!

Clang! Clang! Clang!

The reason why I was an ice-type wizard was clear. It was because of the additional frostbite debuff which immediately decreased the opponent’s movement speed.

And I have had a lot of success with the frostbite debuff until now.

And that’s why I still kept maintaining the passive skill of minor frostbite occurrence.

So, because of the various ice-type attacks I used, the boss monster suffered frostbite all over its body, though they were less severe than when I directly hit it with the Ice Emperor’s guardian sword. Whenever the boss monster moved, the ice generated by the frostbite cracked and fell to the ground. Of course, it didn’t decrease the boss monster’s movement speed at all.

But that didn’t mean that my frostbite attack had no effect since the boss monster clearly suffered damage from it. But the damage was minimal because the boss monster’s health was too high.

Anyway, it was regrettable that my frostbite attack didn’t inflict any tangible damage on the boss monster, but I pulled back as much as possible and kept attacking without caring about the damage. However, the boss monster soon closed in on me by moving much faster than I thought. As soon as it got close, it extended its jaws at me. So, I stopped attacking and focused on avoiding its counterattack even though my health was high because this was likely to be a protracted battle.

However, unlike the normal crocodiles, this boss monster attacked very quickly. So I stopped attacking and focused on dodging, but in the end, my right leg was bitten. And the boss monster did more than simply bite my leg.

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeng!

Thud! Thud! Thud!

In animal documentaries, I’ve seen crocodiles perform a certain twisting movement, namely, a death rotation or a death roll. In other words, as soon as the boss monster bit my right leg, it quickly rotated his huge body. Then my body was tossed around violently, and my health decreased rapidly.

I tried to twist myself out of the boss monster’s grip, kicking its snout hard with my other leg, and striking it with the Ice Emperor’s Guardian Sword in my right hand. I also used skills at the same time.

“Ice Wave! Ice Spear!”

Bang! Bang!

But it didn’t let go. Instead, it counterattacked me more violently.

Before, I could have avoided the boss monster’s initial jaw attack with Blink, but since I used it not long back, the other players might suspect that its cooldown was too short, so I didn’t use it, which I now slightly regretted.

Of course, I didn’t regret that long because I was not finished here yet like other players.

So, I kept swinging the Ice Emperor’s guardian sword at the boss monster while it was using its death roll to try to tear off my leg and slam me down.

Puck! Puck!

And after waiting for my skill cooldowns to return and confirming that they had indeed returned, I opened my mouth.

“Ice Field! Multiple Thin Ice!”

Pasasasak!

Pitter-patter! Pitter-patter!

“Blizzard! Ice Tornado!”

These were my most powerful skills.

I aimed at the boss monster’s jaw with the skills.

At that moment, I could see that the boss monster’s jaw opened slightly.

I opened my mouth right after that.

“Blink.”

Shunnnnnnnng!

Until now, I could not use Blink because this fierce crocodile boss was biting my legs tightly, for I could not use Blink while in contact with others.

“Ice Rain! Ice Ball! Ice Bolt!”

I made the boss monster release its vice-like grip on my leg with its jaws, and managed to pull some distance. So I resumed attacking it without even checking the wounds on my legs.

But then I witnessed something that I liked quite a bit.

It was none other than the gust of wind embedded in Ice Tornado that pulled everything around it.

Since the boss monster was so big and heavy, it wasn’t swept away by the gust as visibly as the normal crocodiles, but I could easily confirm that it was slower than normal because of the powerful gusts. Moreover, he was on the Ice Field that I laid in advance.

[Khaaaaaaaaaang!]

For the first time, the boss monster screamed loudly.

By hearing its painful scream, I could see that the boss monster didn’t like the current situation very much. However, I could not afford to be happy right now, so this time I mounted a ranged attack against it without caring about its screams.

I used all of my skills on cooldown, including Ice Ball and Ice Bolt that I hardly used these days.

“Man, what the hell is it doing?”

At that moment, the boss monster charged at me again desperately despite Ice Field and Ice Tornado as if to showcase its mighty power as a boss monster.

So, I used another skill right away.

“Ice Prison!”
