Chapter 146: Scouting Part 1
Duncan and Fernando watch things from the trees, up in the hills.
The two of them were scouting, to see things around Valion in order for them to camp safely in that Region. The camp is crucial, for the place they camped was predicted to be the place where the 'Human World Gate' will be opened, approximately in three days in the Elven Realm, the Realm of Valiheim.
They both see the march of the Flame and Sea Elves, as they marched around Vigalon, a region near Valion, that was separated by a huge river. The two see the horde, they witness the march which confuses them, wondering if there's something that they didn't know just happened right now.
" Why are those Elves marching in Vigalon, Fernando? " Duncan asks Fernando, his brother-in-law who accompanied him for scouting.
He uses [Magic Dragon Eye: Vision Ray]* to watch over the hordes of Elves, marching toward the east from their location.
" Based on what I've learned in the Elven Realm's Map, I know that the road they go to is the west of Vigalon, but from us, it's to the east. "
" According to it, in the West of Vigalon Region there's Validur, the Region of the Elves of the Night, mostly become the Dark Elves Region. " Fernando recounts.
" The Dark Elves? " Duncan says while covering his mouth, thinking something.
" If I recount things, it is said that those Elves had been massacred by the Elves of the Day, right? " Duncan asks Fernando regarding it, he recounts what he was informed regarding the event back then.
" By those Flame Elves, Sea Elves, Forest Elves, and those other Elves subraces that were minor to the whole entire Elven Race. " Duncan says, telling the history he knows.
" Oh yes, brother, even worse. " Fernando replied.
" You probably only know the general things from your common education, but for me and the rest of the Royals. "
" We were given some added detail of the Dark Elves' massacre. " Fernando tells Duncan.
" Added..., details? " Duncan looks at his brother-in-law, as he tells him some secret origins of the Dark Elves.
" Are you sure about that, the Dark Elves are actually!? " Duncan shouts as he was surprised regarding the fact.
" Indeed brother, the Dark Elves were actually one of the monstrous offsprings of the old-era Demons in the Elven world. "
" The Dark Elves are the monstrous offspring that still maintain the Elf Appearance, despite their magic being mostly dark because of their ancient demonic inheritance. " Fernando explains.
" Wait, if the Dark Elves are part of the 'Demonic Monster offsprings' in the Elven Realm. "
" Then, technically..., they're... "
" Yes, brother! " Fernando quickly answers Duncan's unfinished questions.
" The Dark Elf Race is still related to the Gremlins, Goblins, Orcs, and Ogres... " Fernando states which surprised Duncan as he hears it.
"( Wait, they're still related!? )" Duncan shouted in his mind, even after years of his career as a Hunter, he still never realized that those monsters mentioned by Fernando earlier are related to the Elves.
It simply didn't enter his mind, after all these years.
Guess this is the obvious drawback of being born as a commoner, wasn't it?
To always missed off some details that only the upper class could know.
But now, it seems Duncan slowly gets more knowledge that he didn't even learn during his learning years, pieces of knowledge that actually closer to the facts hidden to the commoner caste, facts that he now finally knows.
" Wow, what a surprise... " Duncan says while laughing for a bit.
"( Dammit, now I understand why the Royals had more knowledge than the commoners... )"
"( They know some details like this, things that could only be learned if you were born in the royal class of society. )" Duncan thinks about this, for he remembers the 'Area Alter Magic' used by his wife Irina and his 'Dragon Curse Sealing Magic' taught to him by Hector, his father-in-law, the Head of Richter House.
"( No wonder there's an overall gap between the Royals and the Commoners' overall power, they excel over us in raw power, techniques, knowledge, and many more that the Common people couldn't access. )"
"( Now I understand..., how lucky I am right now... )"
"( To even marry one, despite I'm a guy with an unknown origin, just crawling from the dirt to the top due to horrendous workload. )" Duncan recounts everything that he just gained so far, he felt grateful that he had been all through those hardships before, now he just sow the seeds of his works.
As he thinks about himself, Fernando could only show his tongue, seeing his brother-in-law deep in his own consciousness.
"( He must've processed the things I gave him... )"
"( No wonder, brother Duncan shouldn't even know things that I just said due to his caste... )"
"( I must say that he really needs to know this since he's part of us now. )"
"( Damn, he had gone this far from his previous status... )" Fernando says, secretly admiring Duncan's effort over the years, he knows this too as his brother-in-law.
"( Oh, Donovan, Adria, I hope you both grow better than your parents, it would make them be adored more, making their marriage even more legal in our society. )" Fernando prays for his nephew and niece, for he prays the two of them would be strong and smart like their parents, in order for society to adore the pair despite their different backgrounds, admiring them through their child's success for at least.
As he prays, he suddenly sees a shadow coming from their back, and when he looks at it.
* Mana Pressure *
"( Mana Pressure? )" Fernando senses it, including Duncan who gets snapped from his own mind.
"( This presence! )" Duncan immediately recognizes this Mana, he knows it well.
The Mana was filled with menace and malice, a Mana that could only be released by someone so dangerous to the very human society for his inhumane presence.
" Tenebrae! " Duncan says as he looks at Tenebrae, who appeared behind them.
" Hello there, gentlemen. "
" Nice view you have there, may I join you two? " Tenebrae asks them as he appears out of the dark as usual.
