Chapter 154 – Cat Dad’s God & His Nemesis

Ambulances, fireman trucks, and police cars parked around a block. Police officers blocked the roads with yellow tapes while firemen and paramedics rushed in to rescue the injured.

The giant monster was gone like magic after a brief appearance. However, the entire skyscraper collapsed and killed many people inside.

Pan Xian sat in the back of a military truck along with other people with minor injuries. His suit was covered in gray dust, but he was unharmed.

On his lap was a pet bag. The unruly caracal cat was inside, dozing off as if nothing had happened. As Nian was sleeping, nobody noticed that he had three eyes.

BEEP

While Pan Xian was waiting for the military truck to bring all survivors here to a safe location, his phone vibrated. He brought it out from his suit pocket and swiped it.

A green messenger app displayed the recent message from his son, Pan Mei.

“We found Katerina and Miao Damao flying to the East Coast. Do we need to follow them?”

Pan Xian opened the app and replied.

“Do not overextend or pursue them. They’re stronger than average cultivators.”

“Then, are we leaving them alone?”

Pan Xian snickered and glanced at his cat. In elation, he told Pan Mei about the incident.

“Miao Damao is now cursed. He won’t live long. We can leave him alone.”

“So, Nian fought him? That’s why the news?”

“That’s right. We won.”

“Awesome! Now, we don’t have any rebellious cultivators from the first game left, right?”

Pan Xian patted the pet carrier bag in a good mood. He thought of Katerina, who was Miao Damao’s wife.

“Aside from Katerina, nobody can challenge us anymore. By the way, how’s the thing in China? Do we have Miao Damao’s son?”

“That… I’m sorry.”

“What happened?” Pan Xian’s face changed. He thought of Xiaomao, who was doing well in the game recently.

As Pan Xian had been monitoring Miao Damao’s movements, he was also aware of Xiaomao’s existence and the latter’s game character. He never forgot the names of every player who picked a catopus as a game avatar.

After all, the catopus were children of Cathulhus, and his nemesis, Mu-Nyang, was from the Cathulhu Race!

Pan Mei sent multiple images of dead soldiers and the ruined house of Xiaomao. He also commented.

“Xiaomao killed a dozen PLA soldiers. He also destroyed one of our choppers and killed the pilots. I just coordinated with the government, and they will declare Miao Xiaomao a terrorist soon. They will also put a bounty on him to attract the local people to our side.”

“Don’t forget to ban Xiaomao’s access to the game. If he can’t enter the game, he won’t be able to get stronger even though his synchronization rate hits 100%.”

“I’ll tell Dong Junya to ban him ASAP!”

Pan Xian let out a long sigh of relief. He put the phone away and leaned back.

CHA-CHA-CHA-RUMBLE

The truck driver started the engine, and a police officer guided the last passenger to the truck. The vehicle departed.

Pan Xian hummed. He couldn’t wait to see the downfall of Mu-Nyang’s minions in the game and reality.

‘Soon, Mu-Nyang. Very soon. This entire world population will soon become cultivators, and they will worship me as their god. And once I evolve as the true god, I’ll erase you!’

.

On a rooftop of the opposite building, a certain bicolor cat stared at the departing military truck.

The white cat scoffed and waved his paw.

WHOOSH

Several transparent energy balls came out from the collapsed building and flew toward Mu-Nyang. The cat gazed at the souls of the dead humans and blessed them.

“I’m sorry, munya. You guys got caught up in our fight. I’ll reincarnate you to a better place.”

A small portal opened behind Mu-Nyang.

“As compensation, I’ll bless your family and send them out of this world when the war happens. You can pass on in peace.”

The soul balls vanished into the portal. After all souls of the victims and the portal disappeared, Mu-Nyang coughed and spat a mouthful of blood.

Munya! (Annoying karma’s side effects.)

Mu-Nyang raised his head and looked in the direction of the truck one last time. He grumbled.

‘A virus like you can never defeat a true entity, Pangu. Just wait there and obediently become the EXP for my kids so that they can become an entity like me!’

.

Rabid Poison

Gnolls, their habits, and their poor hygiene gave birth to this poison. At first, it was a common disease among gnolls. However, after gnolls gained intelligence by the guidance of Nian and Pangu, they created a spell to manipulate and control the poison.

Spell Type: Active, Debuff, AOE

Rarity: Super Rare

Requirement: 1,000 Dark Spiritual Root

Class Restriction: Any Mage

Cost: 250 MP

Cooldown: 60 seconds

Effects: Create a poison mist in the designated area. All creatures in the poisonous mist have a high chance of being infected with an abnormal status effect [Rabid Poison]

*[Rabid Poison] – This abnormal status have three effects as the followings;

– Inflict 0.5% HP damage to self every second when not in a combat mode.

– Decrease all DEF, M.DEF, INT, and WIS to zero and increase ATK by 100%.

– Disable all spells and skills.

.

Xiaomao snickered as he read the description of a low-level spellbook in his hand. It came from Warg Lord, and it had been rotting in Xiaomao’s inventory for a long time.

Xiaomao had been reviewing which spellbook to sell, and he stumbled upon it. He immediately put two duplicate books in the auction house and kept this one.

Xiaomao pondered, wondering if he should use the book. He examined his remaining spell slots.

.

Learned Spells (4/10): Holy Light, Lightning Storm, Shaman Fireball, Blessing Totem: Monster Domestication

.

During the early game, pre-awakening characters could learn up to 10 spells from the game’s spellbooks, depending on their character’s INT, WIS, and spiritual roots. Usually, players under level 200 never had a problem with the 10 spell limit as they could never obtain more than 10 good spellbooks from monsters.

This logic didn’t apply to Xiaomao. As he had many books but very limited spell slots, Xiaomao had been delaying the decision for a long time.

However, after going through a series of combat, Xiaomao figured out his weaknesses.

First, Xiaomao lacked skills and spells to spam when his main spells were on cooldown. Between the attacks, he was always vulnerable to counterattacks.

Secondly, he lacked firepower and burst damage. Aside from Lightning Storm, Lightning Bolt, Shaman Fireball, and One Man Thousand Arrow, Xiaomao didn’t have any good offensive ability to use.

And lastly, Xiaomao still hadn’t learned any crowd control ability. He couldn’t properly stun or paralyze mobs without getting closer to them.

Thus, Rabid Poison might be in handy. Xiaomao could temporarily rely on it for the skill-seal debuff as a way to negate pesky mages and ranged attackers from using spells and skills. Moreover, this spell inflicted damage over time, which was a nice thing to have against bosses with million HP.

<You have learned a new spell, Rabid Poison!>

Xiaomao used it right away. At the same time, duplicate spells in the market were sold.

Unintentionally, Xiaomao glanced at the name of the buyer.

Absolute Halal

‘Ah, my favorite customer. He’s still alive and kicking, I see.’
