Chapter 308 A white war
At the moment, Li Yunhong knew it was inappropriate to continue the conversation related to Chen Qian. The atmosphere was tenser and tenser. A white war was coming.
Li Yunhong shifted back. She wanted to humiliate Gu Yan, but she failed. So, she just lowered her head, as if a kid was doing something wrong.
A good idea came to Li Yunhong’ mind suddenly when she saw the gift on the table.
“The gift looks like great. I am curious what is inside. Can I open it now?” Li Yunhong took the bag and pretended to be very happy. There were malicious intentions in her smile. In fact, she wanted to grasp this opportunity to humiliate Gu Yan and let her keep away from Mo Yichen.
“Sure, this is for you. Go ahead.” Gu Yan didn’t know what Li Yunhong was thinking about. She thought Li Yunhong might really like the gift she sent. The moment Gu Yan saw the happy expression on Li Yunhong’s face, she thought that Li Yunhong was actually a very kind woman and was just taken advantage of others.
Li Yunhong took out the box from the bag which was really beautiful. Li Yunhong was excited, but she had to repress her feelings. She knew she couldn’t be moved or influenced only by a necklace.
Li Yunhong didn’t expect the necklace was so beautiful that she could not help but wear it. Then she went to the mirror happily. It seemed that she really liked the necklace.
“Manla is really awesome. She has got everything I need to know. The necklace really works out.” Gu Yan thought. She was so thankful to Manla.
Li Yunhong was appreciating herself with the necklace in the mirror. She had to confirm that the necklace suited her well. But she thought Gu Yan was the one who worshiped money and maybe she would buy the fake. The more she thought about it, the more she believed it.
Li Yunhong blamed herself for not resisting the temptation, and she yanked the necklace from her neck. She thought she almost fell for her trick. So, she refreshed her head and calmed down to make sure everything was under control.
Li Yunhong came down the stairs with the shinning necklace in her hands. She put on the poker face when she saw Gu Yan was staring at her. Then she disdainfully threw the necklace into the dust bin with a fake smile.
The look on her face was horrible, as if she was stimulated by something. She looked like a hungry wolf staring at a thin goat and being eager to devour it. Then Li Yunhong sneered at Gu Yan and sat on the sofa. She started to read the newspaper as if nothing had happened.
Gu Yan chuckled when she saw that. In order to change Li Yunhong’ attitude to her, she did everything she could. However, she failed, and nothing changed.
“Aunt, I will buy you another one if you don’t like it.” In fact, Gu Yan had already known Li Yunhong wouldn’t change her mind easily, not to mention in such a short time. Their misunderstanding ran deeper and deeper. It took time to deal with it.
Gu Yan wasn’t surprised by Li Yunhong’s behaviors. She knew Li Yunhong thought she was a wicked woman. Although she was upset, she thought there might still a silver lining between them. But now, she just thought everything went up in smoke.
It was all gone.
They sat on the sofa without a word. Gu Yan was tired of that. She didn’t want to ingratiate herself with Li Yunhong anymore. She could not make it alone.
“Aunt Gu... Aunt Gu...” Gu Yan heard Xiangyan’s shouting outside the door and stood up at once. But she bumped into the table in front of her. The loud noise frightened Li Yunhong.
“What’s wrong with you? Couldn’t you be more careful? Why are you always in such a hurry? You have to be act as an adult. I am afraid you will set a bad example to Xiangyan.” Li Yunhong said. Fortunately, Gu Yan just heard Li Yunhong’s voice and didn’t watch Li Yunhong’s face or she would be scared into having nightmares at night.
“Well, got it.” Gu Yan said softly without any emotional waves. Maybe she got used to it or disheartened. She didn’t even care about her moods when she heard Li Yunhong’s bad words. She was numb about everything.
“Don’t see Xiangyan again. You will set a bad example to him. Don’t break up other people’s families...” Li Yunhong whispered, but Gu Yan still heard it.
“Break up?” This was the most sarcastic words Gu Yan had ever heard. What on earth did she do to let others describe herself with so malicious words?
It seemed that there was no way to change Li Yunhong’s attitude to Gu Yan. The relationship between Gu Yan and Mo Yichen couldn’t be further anymore. Did she have to fight for this all her life? Gu Yan didn’t have the confidence to win. It might be one year, five, or ten....
“We are back...” Mo Yichen came in with a smile and held Xiangyan’s hands.
“Aunt Gu. Can you stay tonight? I want you to stay here. You haven’t finished the story you told me last time...” Xiangyan got rid of Mo Yichen’s hands and ran into Gu Yan’s arms.
Li Yunhong got alarmed and grabbed Xiangyan’s hands at once. Xiangyan was pulled back by Li Yunhong’s strong arms.
“Xiangyan, I will tell you stories tonight. Aunt Gu has her own business to deal with. Be a good boy. Just let her go.” Li Yunhong said and looked at her grandson lovingly.
“Madam, dinner is ready.” The servant’s words broke up the ice-like air.
“Yan, let’s go for the dinner. We will have a square meal tonight.” Li Yunhong said. Her tone really scared Gu Yan. Gu Yan didn’t know what the hell Li Yunhong was going to do. Sometimes, her attitude was gentle. But sometimes, it was really bad.
Li Yunhong served Gu Yan many times during the dinner, which made Mo Yichen and Xiangyan become so happy. But only Gu Yan understood that all this was not real. Li Yunhong was pretending....
