Chapter 870 Chapter 870 Recruitment

"How to fix this problem? Hmmm..." Our bored gamer laid on his favorite rocking chair as he thought about a solution of sorts.

It has already been a week since the Hajime clan was founded and he was now facing food shortages in the immediate future.

It appeared that feeding more than a hundred mouths was not an easy task at all.

From an initial popular of 63 including himself, the Hajime Clan now numbered more than 130 strong souls in their ranks.

The first week alone has brought many refugees from the nearby warring clans and it was an indicator that the conflict was still hot and was becoming even more ferocious as the days went by.

"I need more hunters." Clark said as he rubbed his fully bearded face. Doing all the job of hunting food himself was of course stupid in the long run.

He wanted to make his clan self sustaining and strong. Alas, there was sadly only a few qualified hunters amongst his people.

The majority in them had a profession of farmers, shepherds, butchers, blacksmith, lumberjack, cooks, etc.

Those may be honorable and profitable given other times but today, our bored gamer needed hunters badly.

"I should be able to give them some treasure or something. An artifact that could safeguard them in the wild. Something that even a mere child could control and possess."

Clark mused and began experimenting on the spot. In this week, he had mastered another dao path in cultivation.

"Show me my character sheet, Nancy."

"Affirmative, host."

"DING!"

"Should i give them a chaos borne artifact?" Clark almost laughed in place. This was because the dao of chaos was probably the strongest mastery of the six that he got.

"Hmmm... That would be an overkill i guess. Fire is also dangerous since we're in a forest. I don't want to burn this natural resource by accident while I'm here.

So it's earth, water, lightning or wind. Any one of them will do. Okay then." Our bored gamer thought for a bit before he decided to pick one at random.

A breath later, a bluish glow twirled and danced until it hovered just a few inches from the same palm that has borne it to life. It was not big at all.

Only a penny sized marvel and nothing more.

"Now i only need a container to host this little power." Clark said and called his cute servants in the house.

"What is it, Eto-sama?" Yuuka came first followed by her older sister on her heels.

"Go to Elder Okura and tell him to get capable men. I want a hundred pieces of small necklaces before this day is over.

The quality of them does not matter as long as the quantity satisfies my need. Take Miyuri with you." Our bored gamer instructed. This Elder Okura was of course not an expert of anything.

He was only the oldest man of these survivors. A 70 year old honest man which garnered the respect of our very own protagonist.

Other than him, Clark never called anybody an Elder amongst the 130 plus people in the clan.

"We hear you, Eto-sama! We will bring good news once we come back!" Yuuka vowed and went on to drag her silent sister away from the scene.

It was obvious that the much littler girl was so excited to become useful to her master today.

The entire day passed and another one shortly followed.

"Why have you summoned us, Patriarch?" A man asked for the majority. Everyone was outside our bored gamer's house while Clark himself stood at the balcony of his 3 storey home.

Most of those present were adult men and women. Only a few children and old people were there. Few of them survived in this large scale war between clans.

"Good day to everyone. Since our numbers has increased, i have found sufficient reason to train more hunters in our fold.

This task cannot be solely left upon me and the scarce hunters that we currently have. This will not serve us much for long. So I'm here to ask for volunteers. Anyone is free to come forward."

Clark invited in order to push his agenda.

"TIK!"

"TOK!"

"TIK!"

"TOK!"

.

..

...

The seconds gently went but no soul came up to present themselves for the challenge. It was a full minute later before somebody courageous enough stepped forward.

"Come back here, boy!"

"You don't know what you're going into!"

"Stupid child! Don't be stubborn!"

"You're only making a joke in front of the Patriarch!" A boy probably 12 years old or less stood there valiantly amidst the discouragements of the many.

"If the Patriarch shall have me, i want to be a hunter." The boy said boldly. His immature voice rang loud but his stance never wavered one bit.

It was clear that he had seen the darkness of this world to make him act far beyond his years.

"Welcome, child. I would make a great hunter of you soon enough. Anymore volunteers?" Clark did not deny the wish of the boy.

He looked for the dozens in attendance and hoped for more valuable workers in his fold. This time around it did not take one breath for someone to join in on the fun.

"I will also become a mighty hunter, Eto-sama! Please train me well!" Yuuka's voice echoed clearly and she pulled her older sister along for the ride.

"As do i, Eto-sama." Miyuri had no choice but to comply. Although she was afraid to get eaten by wild dogs and ugly crocodiles but her will to serve her master diminished all those fears.

But how could our bored gamer agree to such a setting? He did not want to lose his loyal maidservants in the house.

One should know that Yuuka and Miyuri were the only lucky souls lucky enough to stay inside Clark's abode at this time. To all others, it was considered as a forbidden area.
