Asher repeatedly shook his head and sighed as he was really starting to wonder if that woman - "The Principal" had nothing better to do in life than to give boring speeches the whole day.

AND IF THAT WASN'T ENOUGH, there are people actually listening to it! Her speech probably went something along the lines of, "For those who failed, don't get depressed and go try your luck in other places. You're clearly not good enough to enroll in here-"

Ok maybe that last part was added by me but it could surely, SURELY be interpreted in this way by some people, right? The principal loudly clapped her hands and I could once again feel a weird sensation, though this time it wasn't directed towards me.

The next moment, 9,500 people just vanished from the room and we were suddenly left with a mere 480 examinees, the people who passed.

"The room really looks empty now."

"Ok, now we will be announcing the results and the class you'll all be assigned to. Please check your smartwatches now. The classes are divided from A-1 to A-8. The class placement was totally random and had absolutely no relation to the individual rankings.", said the principal in a single breath. fre(e)webnovel.com

I tried to access the Academy's mainframe from my smartwatch and opened up the rankings first.

[Rank 1: Lucia Feyheart]

[Rank 2: Ellis Moonwhisper]

[Rank 3: Brian Adams]

..

..

[Rank 52: Asher Gradivus]

..

[Rank 54: Anthony Reis]

..

..

[Rank 372: Orion Hawthorne]

..

..

[Rank 480: Alex Silvercrest]

There were a few other names in there that I recognized but they weren't really that important for now. Damien and Charlotte had enrolled in the 2nd-ranked academy whereas Isabella enrolled in the 3rd-ranked academy.

As for Brian, based on what I had written in my novel, he was in fact a major Antagonist throughout the series. While he didn't have plot armor, he had invented his own way to use high-level magic as a warrior. While he would only be able to use a single magic, that particular spell would have most of its restrictions lifted and mana cost reduced by almost thousands of times.

This was a special trick he invented, which he never actually shared with anyone in the novel. Using this, when he was at the [SS-] rank, he could spam hundreds of meteors from the sky to bombard everything. The cost could be said to be negligible for someone at his rank, the casting efficiency was almost as if he was casting the lowest tier of magic.

Simply put, the man could spam nuclear missiles with a flick of his hand whenever he wanted, wherever he wanted. Luckily Brian only had hostile intentions against Alex but didn't go around wantonly murdering innocent people or even the [SSS-] ranks might have taken action. His combat power was at the same level as the main cast due to this special technique he invented. He was a genius.

In the novel, all I had written was that he used mana to engrave a spell inside his very own heart and connected every node of the spell to every single blood vessel. I had already decided to try to replicate this. While I only had this single hint, one thing everyone was forgetting was that if the main cast and Brian were "geniuses", then I was a "SUPREME GENIUS".

My infinite talent wasn't just for show. I could make my own techniques, arts, and skills in the future and those made by me would absolutely be of the highest grade. I could grasp concepts faster than anyone else too. Replicating that phenomenon, no matter how hard it was, wouldn't be much of a big deal for me in the future.

Brian had chosen to engrave the spell [Meteor Descent] in his own heart. Engraving a spell on your own heart and connecting to your blood vessels could only be done by oneself, nobody could help you. Nobody else was mad enough either to try and experiment on their own hearts.

While [Meteor Descent] was a good choice, I, unfortunately, didn't have the Fire affinity. The spell engraved could only consist of something made from your own elements. Brian had the [Fire] and [Earth] affinities so it was possible for him to do that but I'd have to make my own spell if I wish to incorporate and use both [Destruction] and [Earth] to form a spell.

Looking back at the ranks, I noticed that everyone had more or less gotten the same rankings. In the original novel, Asher had probably still enrolled in the [Arcadia] academy though his rank must have been slightly higher than mine as he must have worked harder to kill more monsters.

The plot of the novel had in fact just started a few days ago, so it hadn't been long since Alex gained his powers, Orion got his upgraded system and Anthony regressed. Orion hadn't had enough time to grow strong enough to rank in the top 100's yet and Alex was still probably learning how to control and dual-wield his affinities. Orion must be [G] around now and Alex would still be [G-]. Neither of them had any battle experience before either.

Well, even if I wasn't originally meant to enroll in the Academy, I still wouldn't have pushed Alex out of the 480 because.. He had the plot armor duh!

While thinking about this, I remembered to also check the classes everyone got assigned to.

[A-1: Ellis Moonwhisper]

..

..

[A-5: Lucia Feyheart]

[A-7: Brian Adams, Anthony Reis, Asher Gradivus, Orion Hawthorne, Alex Silvercrest]

..

..

Huh, looks like my rank being something different from what I originally achieved had an effect. In the novel, Anthony was assigned to the A-4 class and Orion was in the A-8 class whereas Brian and Alex were both in A-3 instead.

[One Speech Later]

"Things are getting interesting, heh.." I chuckled as I got up from my seat and stretched my legs after a good nap worth of Principal's long speech. After I had checked the ranks and which class everyone got assigned to, I took a nap once again hearing the Principal's boring voice.

We were supposed to come back to the academy after a month and a half as we would be staying on the campus for the next 3 years of our life. I had preparations to make and an impending rank-up. I may be more talented than the other main cast but I can't slack off as they all have plot armor, which I don't. They could casually stumble upon a divine treasure and instantly rank up by 2 minor ranks if I don't pay attention for a day. It is better to stay as much stronger than them as possible for me.
