Ren Ye drove the both of them to a nearby ice cream store, Ren Ye stopped the car and hugged Ren Jia into his arms. Jing Xue decided to stay behind in the car as she didn't want to attract any unwanted attention.
"Mama, why don't you come?"
Ren Jia was slightly disheartened as she saw her Mama was unable to go with them, Jing Xue's eyelashes trembled as she pinched her cheeks.
"If Mama goes, you might not be able to get your ice cream."
Ren Ye's dull eyes dimmed as he caressed Ren Jia's head, "Alright, Mama will come."
Jing Xue was slightly taken aback, Ren Ye curled his lips into an indifferent smile, "We'll go first and you come along after ten minutes."
"Hopefully, we aren't attracting any other attention or you'd prefer to stay here for the time being. After all, I can't guarantee you may not be recognized by any."
Ren Ye expressed his thoughts composedly. Jing Xue pursed her lips and couldn't help but ponder inside her head.
"What is there to be afraid of? I am with my family and sooner or later, they will find out anyway?" Jing Xue's eyelashes shook with emotions.
Jing Xue raised her head and gave Ren Ye a dazzling smile, "Give me ten minutes to get ready, you go first."
Ren Ye nodded his head, Ren Jia was excited as she nodded her head as well, "Mama, we will wait for you!"

"What about Mama?"
Ren Jia looked toward her Papa with anticipation, Ren Ye's neck suddenly felt stiff. Ren Ye pursed his lips tightly and thought,
"What flavor does she like again?"
Jing Xue loved to chew on nuts before but he didn't know if she still retained this hobby after being reborn. Ren Ye couldn't possibly assume at first.
He looked toward Matcha and thought, since a lot of girls like Matcha, wouldn't she like it as well?
Ren Ye wasn't sure and left it up to Jing Xue to decide since she was going to come later, Ren Jia didn't appear surprised as her Papa was always dull and slow regarding relations and affection.
"Papa, don't you think Mama will get mad if you don't order her any? But you ordered for others?"

Ren Ye coughed awkwardly and ordered almond-flavored ice cream, hoping she doesn't reprimand him for choosing the wrong order. Ren Ye felt helpless in this matter.

Ren Ye sat down at the corner of the store and opened the package for Ren Jia, who was drooling at the sight of the ice cream. She raised her head as her eyes shone with dazzling light.

"I know you worked extremely hard for me and Mama so we could get ice cream."

Ren Ye hugged Ren Jia closer to him as he watched the door, silently waiting for Jing Xue to appear. But after more than five minutes of not getting any response from the door, Ren Ye immediately got a text message.
"Help! I was recognized by a fan."

Ren Ye's face turned dark as he sent back a text, "Alright then, I ordered ice cream for you."
"I'll go back to you in another five minutes."
"Okay," Jing Xue replied with an image of a girl raising her thumb but after a couple of seconds, she sent another message.
"Do you even know what is my favorite flavor?"

Ren Ye didn't reply as he turned off his phone with an emotionless face, he turned to watch Ren Jia who was eating quite musingly. Ren Ye took a piece of towel and scrubbed the excess off her face.
"Thank you, Papa."
Ren Ye nodded his head and he watched her eat, he hasn't eaten anything yet but rather let Ren Jia finish her meal first before bringing them to a restaurant.
"Papa, will Mama come?"
"No, she was caught by a fan. We'll go back to her," Ren Ye waited for Ren Jia to express her disappointment but Ren Jia smiled happily at him, "It is alright, Papa."
"When we go out together, Mama always makes sure to have big bulky men in black suits to guard us and the place."
"…"
"Mama said she did them so no one would come and steal me away again."

Ren Ye didn't know whether to cry or laugh, he somewhat pitied Jing Xue for having to live such a strange life.
"Your Mama is right."
"She can't come here because the big bulky boys aren't here today," Ren Ye spoke with dull eyes, "You might get kidnapped if I wasn't here."

The girl appeared to be frightened as she stayed close to the man, the man had his arms around her shoulder as they enter the store.
Ren Ye's eyes dimmed as he closely observed their faces, his face gradually turned grave as he furrowed his eyebrows.
"I didn't expect someone to fall right into my doorsteps…"
The man was none other than Professor Liang whom Ren Ye has met multiple times.
The man nearing his seventies was spotted with a girl who seemed to be in her early 20s.
Ren Ye's eye darkened as he lifted Ren Jia off the ground and held her in his arms, "Let's go."
Ren Jia nodded her head and held her ice cream cup as she licked the spoon, Ren Ye wiped them off her lips with his sleeves. He snorted disapprovingly with a thought inside his head.
"Too many coincidences today."
"I feel I may have fallen into a trap…"
Ren Ye slowly left the place, he side-eyed Professor Liang intimidatingly as he left. The man wearing his blue cap couldn't help but shake as he turned his head around, feeling as though someone was planning to kill him.
"What are you thinking?"
The youthful-looking girl asked him with concern after noticing his distraction, Professor Liang shook his head dismissively and gritted his teeth.
"Nothing."
I thought my activities have been found out by someone. I can't help but feel someone is watching my every movement, waiting for me to make a mistake before striking me.
Ren Ye held Ren Jia in one arm and the other was holding boxes of ice cream for other people. He squinted his eyes and informed Old Yi.
"We have found the reason why Uncle Jie had gone missing."
"Mm?" Old Yi suddenly replied with interest.
"The man I mentioned before who was his friend and met up with him at a cafe, it was him just now," Ren Ye informed him with a solemn face.
"No wonder, I feel disgusting looking at them," Old Yi nodded his head and rubbed his chin.
"Perhaps, we kill him now?"
"No, not yet. I have another plan."
His eyes slowly filled up ruthlessly, "Trick him into revealing himself first and then have him face the consequences of his action."
